Exactly, because I truly feel EON care.

Kerim, I thought I was on a discussion forum. Discussion sometimes means sharing different opinions rather than just having one big love in.

The 50th Anniversary is a massive achievement but it has only happened because the series is a massive money making machine. Eon are not a charity and have never claimed to be.

Once the franchise ceases to be hugely profitable it will be rapidly terminated.

Just a point to bear in mind.

    Dear Michael and Barbara

Many many thanks for making this such a special year with a vintage Bond movie. I've also just got a new special lady in my life who hasn't seen Skyfall yet which is a good enough reason for me to go and see it again for a 4th time and help edge it towards the billion dollar mark!
  • As a kid I was mesmerized by the Bond films when I first saw Goldeneye about fourteen or fifteen years ago, and I have never felt as stunned or amazed as I did walking out of the theater than I did after Casino Royale. I'm so happy Skyfall is getting the Bond franchise the recognition it deserves. - Jordan.

I still say the death of the Bond films is when the Broccolis lose control and faceless marketing/men and/or accountants get total control.

So the Broccolis are OK by me.

By post straight to EON could be expensive but the personal touch is always nice. Their address can be found online.

wait! Can I add my message to it as well?? It is my initial idea off course. Sorry guys for the late reply, but I am so busy working :-S. End of the fiscal year is insight! (Not for 'Skyfall' though ;-))

    My message would be:

"Dear Babs & Michael. From the moment you hired this amazing cast & crew, I was certain you, as producers, were going to experience something unique. And unique 'Skyfall' is thus far. It deserves an Oscar! I wish you the same creative insight for the upcoming 50 years of Bond. Warmest regards, Gustav_Graves"

I think Ms. Broccoli and MGW did make some good decisions on the film: hiring Mendes, bringing back Daniel Kleinman, Dennis Gassner, Roger Deakins, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Jany Temine for costume design. They also kept DC and didn't try to make another re-boot so quickly as other series' have done (cough...Spiderman...cough). They brought in the best of the best, so I commend them for going all out for Bond 23 on the 50th.

I think everyone involved in the crew deserves a big thank you as well for their tireless work.

Nice ... my only suggestion is not to call her "Babs."

Agreed. I find it condescending and inappropriate when the intention is to actually thank her.

Suprised so many are doing this.

Is this really how bad things have gotten? Have things been so inconsistent since 2002 that we have to send them a thank you card when they make a good film, even though that's what they should be trying to do anyway? Plus we've helped make it the most successful Bond film ever, which is thank you enough. If you all send them a letter for making it, then they should send you one for going to see it.

Sorry but I have to agree with @TheWizardOfIce, @RC7 and @PeterGreenhill

If you don't agree, then get out of here.

There's enough negative energy around here, and we would all like to have a nice space to share our enthusiasm for Bond's future without having people rain on our parade. There are plenty of places to criticize EON, so go there instead of here.

It isn't a thank you for just a good film, but for Bond's entire 50 year career. It is a hats off to every single man and woman that have kept Bond going since 1962, from the large orders like producing and directing to simply doing casting jobs or tailoring suits. The producing, the directing, the casts, the very suits Bond wears and more all culminate into one fantastic 50 year ride, and everyone involved, no matter how small their role, deserve a thanks. Nobody else but Bond has endured in such a fine fashion, through changing tides in the world, law suits, bankruptcies, casting changes, and more. It isn't a salute to one film, no. It is a salute to an entire company who have let us know for 50 years going that no matter what, Bond will always return.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, I couldn't have said it better myself. Those who are being negative in this thread obviously didn't read each and every post, as we aren't thanking them for SF, we're thanking them for everything. If we thanked them via card for every great film they did, why didn't we send them one for CR, which most people loved? It's for the entire culmination of the last 50 years.

I still think some people on these forums are here for the sole purpose of being negative. I know a member or two who I see only spew out hatred and negative thoughts in any thread I see them speaking in. What's the point?

Well the opening post said it was thanking the producers for SF.
I was just thinking of this. I think the Bond producers deserve a little extra congratulations for the massive success of 'Skyfall'. And also, to encourage them to continue on the same high quality level. Is this a nice idea? Perhaps the owner and moderators of the website have some suggestions?

If it's for the series as a whole, then fair enough. I just thought the idea of thanking them because they made a good film (which they're meant to do anyway) was stupid.
  • all of your messages will be added, do not worry. I am leaving for 4 days so expect this done by the 26th ish :)

That's the idea of one person. Those that go along with the idea have the power to form it. That's the great thing about ideas. They can be elaborated upon, or improved to meet a need.

Here is what the text on the card says:

"Dear Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, we, the MI6 Community all wish to thank you for all the amazing Bond films you brought us, especially Skyfall. It is always nice to know that Bond will return."

Does that sound like we are thanking them for one film? No, it is a thanks for all past efforts, as well as their present Bond film that continues to show that Bond is as strong as ever.

I think you are one of the least negative members here, @thelivingroyale. So point taken and thanks for amending your statement.

I think the thank you card for all the years of Bond is appropriate, so I'm glad we are doing this.
