Q- who ultimately hired Mendes?
A- Broccoli and Wilson. They are due credit for this, as well as Craig for the suggestion.
But, I really thank them for making for considering the fans in SF by making not only a good story but also making references to Fleming's work and previous Bond movies. I feel this was a more fan-oriented movie than some of the others, so I really appreciated that as a fan.
I think....it's a Dutch thing. A cultural thing so to say. I see Michael and Barbara is talented producers. But they are still people. I do not believe in a strict hierarchical, formal approach. And especially because we are fans, and not actual members of the crew, I think Barbara and Michael would love this card and all its various comments and thank you's. So please keep it 'Dear Babs & Michael'. We are all Bond fans. That's what unites us. So don't think too much about how you say thank you....just thank them in your own way.
I understand you wanting a friendly and warm tone. But we do not personally know them. I am more hesitant about that. I suggest you say Barbara (not Ms. Broccoli), if you want the more informal and friendly approach. Just my opinion (because Babs is very informal, like between good friends). Not only that, but for some women named Barbara they really do not like being called Babs (I know of two who hate it). For example, if it were me, I would not like it. Just my opinion. It also reminds me that I have read that so many people referred to Elizabeth Taylor as Liz, and that she actually hated that.
Well, for the person who creates the card.......for me it's okay to change it into 'Dear Barbara & Michael'. I don't care about that. Just put the messages on the card and the overall gesture looks simply astonishing and very kind. I don't think Barbara and Michael will pick my 'thank you' and try to sue me. Be spontaneous, be happy.
So it will be:
"Dear Barbara and Michael. From the moment you hired this amazing cast & crew, I was certain you, as producers, were going to experience something unique. And unique 'Skyfall' is thus far. It deserves an Oscar! I wish you the same creative insight for the upcoming 50 years of Bond. Warmest regards, Gustav_Graves"
Hey no worries. I am not angry hehe ;-). I think this should just be a thread in which we post all 'Thank you's' in the way you like to write it. And making sure it gets posted off course...
I thought this was a supposed to be a discussion group rather than a Mike and Babs love in. That means letting others express differing opinions.
Live with it!
Disclaimer: If you are going to whine about what we are doing for EON, please do your research, or at least read the bloody posts.
We are not making a shire to Michael and Barbara. It is a thank you to EVERYONE that has been a part of Bond's 50 year history. There is no discussion to have. This is a place to post the messages we wish to pass on, that's all. A place to give our positive messages to EON, not a place for people to come whose only objective is to say nay to what we are doing. You've said your piece, and believe me when I say that we all get it, all right? No sense in sticking around and repeating yourself.
'TheBondFan'? How's the postcard update going?
I should finish by the 26th
It's a place for mawkish sycophants mate. I suggest you leave them to it or you'll just get grief.
Why don't you leave as well? Quit complaining and just leave. Nobody is making you stay. I know people are allowed to be interested in any pastime they like, but I don't think trolling is considered a hobby. Merry Christmas, Scrooge.
Not complaining. Just telling a fellow member to not bother with the hassle. I'm sure Mickey and Babs would call me Scrooge too after spending £300 on Skyfall alone. The fact my collection stretches to thousands if not £10k plus, should also look pretty healthy in ther bank accounts. Oh and by the way, your definition of trolling is amusing. Anyone who doesn't agree with you is a troll and you stamp your feet and moan, get over yourself.
No, I think a troll is a whiny child who comes into a positive thread and continually spreads negative comments around, even after being told that it is time to stop. It isn't our faulty you feel the need to have the spotlight on you. If that is what you're here for, just make a thread here that says "Hey Everyone, Look At Me! Pretend I'm Special". You would be nice to joke with if you weren't so soft about it all.
Apologies to my fellow members who actually want to thank EON for clogging the thread with this argument.
Well I think I've left a maximum of about 3 comments in here so I'd hardly call it continuous. One was to state my case, the second was to clarify that I wasn't going mad and the third above. As for the 'spotlight' that's a case of the pot calling the kettle black. You absolutely ripped into @thelivingroyale, who incidentally is one of the most moderate members on this board, for no good reason. I read most of your comments and the impression I get is of someone relatively young masquerading as someone much older. Whether that's for attention only you know, I wouldn't want to make that case, unlike yourself. I've done nothing to stir up conversation here and you could have easily ignored my comments as they were never directed at you, but you engaged and that's your problem.
Enjoy your vacation! Thanks for your work on this.
Could you add :
"A big big thank you for reinventing Bond since Casino Royale. Tounet77"
Maybe you should stop shining it on me then.
"Thank you EON for the great path you have chosen with Daniel Craig and his tenure. May it continue to thrive!"
