Please find posted below a link to a brand new literary and cinematic James Bond blog called The Bondologist Blog, which I set up in May 2012. Watch out for an ongoing series of James Bond articles which will be published there first in the next few weeks and months. I will promise many exclusive articles on many new slants looking at the literary Bond especially. I deal in all aspects of Lesser Spotted Bondology.

Please note that you can now follow the activity of The Bondologist Blog on Twitter:

http://www.twitter.com/Dragonpol

I can also be contacted by email for submissions, criticism, praise or anything else entirely right here:

[email protected]

The blog is interested in the more obscure areas of Bondology - the lesser looked up areas. This is my promise to all of the James Bond fans around the world!

Thanks for reading! :)

Hope to get many of these articles uploaded soon - it's been a very busy spell of writing, but the wait will be worth it and that's a promise!

I've added my moniker on MI6 HQ to the Blog Main Page to avoid future confusion. Dragonpol is a great moniker - you can guess I'm a Never Send Flowers fan, can't you?!

I've also recommended MI6 HQ as a great James Bond fan site as thanks to you all out there. I can only hope that such recommendations are reciprocated by you visiting and reading The Bondologist Blog!

I appreciate the excitement, but you can edit your posts to add more content instead of typing a sentence every post.

Yes, I am sorry about that. I don't usually go in for such hyperbole, but it was more of an afterthought. Sorry to have "ruffled feathers" there.

Don't apologize, it isn't a big deal. From what I have seen of your blog, I really like it. I read a bit on Bond and his religion, and can't wait to get into the more Fleming-centric posts as well. Your writing is very intellectual and informative. Keep up the good work! :)>-

Well, thank you, kind sir. Kind words from a loyal fan are very rare...

Havent read any yet but some of the article titles do sound very interesting and I shall be perusing your blog soon.

You sound like you know your subject which only makes it even more perplexing as to why you are such a fan of the, frankly, mediocre NSF. I would have it firmly in the bottom half of Gardners efforts. What is your reasoning?

My reasoning re NSF will become apparent when a 20-year celebration article becomes available on the blog in July 2013. To say anything else would be to spoil the surprise. Let's just say it's going to be a good one - fan or not!

I like esoteric aspects of the JB world - who wants to read another review/appreciation of Goldfinger and the DB5 for example. Not me!

Anyway, thank you again for all your kind words re my blog. They're very much appreciated. Persiration not inspiration and all that!

Thanks very much, thelion, yes, it seems very neat now that we have the Scots heritage-obsessed and origin story that is Skyfall - though it was written back in 2007!

  • Wow, have been reading about oblique references to Felix Leiter, James Bond and Religion, HRF Keating on the James Bond novels, literary JB of the 70s, and Horse Under Water...for starters. What a great range of detailed, yet accessible essays/articles. You look at issues and themes, none the less important, but that in the sheer volume of James Bond "texts" (books and films) can easily be overlooked. Congratulations. It was also fascinating to read the quotes from Fleming regarding his own work.

Congrats again, Dragonpol. I already read some of your articles and, in the other forum, I talked about them (the censored and banned Fleming, for instance).

Anyway, go on with your great pieces of work. Very interesting the religious one...

Thank you both good fellows. Glad you enjoyed the blog. There will be a raft of new articles uploaded from the Annex list quoted in the posts above in this thread.

Happy New Year 2013 and Happy Bonding to you all here on MI6 Community. You are one of the best Bond sites out there and should be proud of this fact!

Keep supporting my blog - your readership and support is what keeps me going. Perhaps I should turn my hand to The Bondologist Book - what do you think? Would there be a market in the areas of obscure/unheard of aspects of this great science some of us call Bondology? Or is the market I'm aiming for too niche? Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated by this struggling blog author!

May I also take this opportunity to wish all my blog readers and fans a very Happy New Year 2013 and to wish you well, irrespective of wherever you are around the globe - I've seen a breakdown of the blog traffic sources and it really is read from all over the world!

Thanks for making The Bondologist Blog such a success in its first year of running (it was only set up on 28 May 2012) and thanks also very much for all your attention in 2013 when I hope the blog will become even better known to literary and cinematic James Bond fans the world over!

I am truly amazed at how prolific you are. This is great - so many wonderful, different, and interesting things to read about.

Actually, I just read an older article about the influence of the defence of Britain during WWII on John Gardner's book Seafire. (gee, how nice, I spelled defense like a Brit for second there ...) ;)

Thanks, and keep up the good work, dear @Dragonpol.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and praise. A lot of new stuff will go up in the coming weeks and months. I have a heavy case load to deliver but I really want The Bondologist Blog to become a one-stop shop for all things James Bond. This is my aim and promise to all James Bond fans and I only hope that I can deliver this.

I'm thinking of rebranding my blog as The Bondologist Blog - The Online Home of David Dragonpol, rather than SILHOUETTE MAN (aka Dragonpol), as I think it becomes confusing with a dual name. I think my SILHOUETTE MAN moniker is a bit played out, too. I've used it since 2002 and maybe it's finally time to put it to bed. The blog will celebrate its very first birthday on 28 May 2013, a date it shares with that of our founder, Ian Lancaster Fleming. By then, I hope some new material I'm working on will receive the rotyal assent and be published. If you're not a member of the blog as yet, please do think about joining up as I certainly need all of the encouragement that I can get from my fellow James Bond fans, who after all are who the blog is dedicated to. It's all for the love of Bond and his fans.

    Thanks,

    Dragonpol.

I have in fact rebranded and relaunched the blog just today under the title The Bondologist Blog - The Online Home of David Dragonpol. I hope I get many more readers as the amount of support has been fantastic so far and we are nearing the blog's first birthday on 25 May 2013. This relaunch of the blog for April 2013 brings with it a new raft of articles to be posted later on this month and in the months to come, so watch this blogspace for article updates.
