I'm sure each news article will get it's own thread when the times comes anyway. There should be lots of great discussion ahead.

I was trying to think of something quick I could change it into, like a game or something.

I may come back to it. Never hurts to recycle
    ;)

I've decided to keep an updated list on the major progress for Bond 24.

@Sam, I know your good at remembering when we usually get trailers and such, so what can we expect?

If we follow the timeline of Skyfall, and if Bond 24 is released in 2014 then we should get the first trailer in the end of May 2014 and the thearatical trailer somewhere in the end of July/beginning of August 2014!

Quite. This time next year filming could be underway.

Which should mean an announcement early next year of a release date. Director news will be in the Summer, or if Mendes returns maybe with the release date.
  • The next stop will be finding out who the director is, if it is coming in 2014 I hope word drops soon.

On QOS and the PB movies the directors weren't officially on the project till the summer. However, on CR and SF; both directors were hired with at least a year (if not longer) before tackling their respective films. The reactions to the PB moves and QOS were far from overwhelming especially when compared to CR and SF, so I really hope that the prods hire someone soon-ish.

Despite what many seem to think the Bond movies are director led, so it makes sense to hire them early therefore allowing a filmmaker to develop the project organically. Plus the Craig films have stuck to hiring auter-type directors with the appointment of Forster and Mendes, it would be foolish now for them to hire a journeyman, except of course if that man is Martin Campbell.
  • QBranchQBranch Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

I like this idea, Mr. Westbrook- but could I suggest changing the title to 'Bond 24 Production Timeline', to make clear the discussion isn't speculating anything about Bond 24's timeline in regards to plot chronology? :)

    Thanks! And thanks!
  • Did we now for sure that Logan's script is finalized, or that he's in a draft? Think back to Peter Morgan in preproduction type scenario...

It should be pretty much complete as he's been working on it since the Summer.
I think he has completed a first draft? And that the producers and DC are aware of it? I would probably think that we will not learn anything yet until march time once the Skyfall movie is available to buy.

I hope I'm wrong but there's still a chance they'll postpone the film till 2015. Three years gives them more time to reflect on things than two years. ;-)

I agree with you. I figure they'll want it out by 2014, based off of how much money SF made. Plus, I really want to get back on the one-film-every-other-year pattern. But, if they need the three years to ship out an incredible film that isn't going to be rushed or convoluted, then by all means, take your time.

It's just the same for video games that get delayed: the more delays, the more time they have to work on the product. Granted, this doesn't always involve a beautiful, flawless product, but it's always a high possibility.

I've added Skyfall hitting $1Billion to the production timeline because I feel it's likely to motivate a sooner (rather than later) production for Bond 24.

    Do we think it's relevant?

I also added the note that Craig's role in George Clooney's The Monuments Men will finish production mid 2013, and open December 2013. This perfectly sets Craig up to begin fall production on Bond 24, and raising hype during the premiers for TMM.

It can't be 2014. The script should be finished and approved by now and it isn't. Movies needs three years minimum or the sequels sucks. One year writing and prep, one year shooting and release, one year promo and rest. It's fall 2015, or it's a crap QOS film all over again.

That's a pretty broad, clueless statement. You don't know that; you may think that's the case, but you have absolutely zero idea of how 'Bond 24' will turn out, if it is released next year.

Logan submitted his scripts in August. In August. Who's to say they haven't approved it? How do you know? They could be preparing final drafts, looking for a director or even have one by now, and working on scheduling production!

Jezz guys, this business doesn't run that way. They will start actual work in the scripts next year, the rest is internet buzz. Unless you want QOS crap, don't expect a Bond next year.

How do you know that the work will start next year? Many sources has already said that Logan delivered his script in August.

Again...how do you know it's going to be bad? You don't. You may THINK it will be bad, based off of crazed logic, but you absolutely do not know if it will be bad or not.

I, too, have read that the script was delivered in August. As @JWESTBROOK stated, a final draft could be finished with a director already lined up. Craig's schedule is looking fine for a start next year, too.

I think he just wants it to be bad. No worries, I'm seeing a perfect set up for a 2014 release as of now.

They'll have to go all out to deliver in 2014. The only way I see it happening is if Logan has delivered and Mendes is directing. Other than that we will await confirmation on a Director, who will have a ridiculous amount of pressure on their shoulders. I'd rather wait until 2015 if necessary but if they feel they can roll straight into the next one then I'm all for it.

We'd need to hear word of a release date by March at the latest I would guess unless the director is announced at the same time, in June-ish.

I've added the possibility of Camille and Quantum being involved in future films to the list based on quotes from the producers in early 2009 (and even up to 2012).

I also added at the bottom the speculation that Andree Bernard is part of the cast.

Also added that B24 & B25 may share a story arc, and changed the layout of the list for a more general, but still consecutive structure.

Do we think these should stay? Or should we wait for confirmation?

    You can add:

October 2012 - Daniel Craig tells MI6 that a plot for Bond 24 has already been developed. (MI6 Confidential issue #18)

It can't be 2014. The script should be finished and approved by now and it isn't. Movies needs three years minimum or the sequels sucks. One year writing and prep, one year shooting and release, one year promo and rest. It's fall 2015, or it's a crap QOS film all over again.

Oh how wrong you are. Just look at the early Bond films (DN, FRWL, GF and TB). All done back to back to back to back, and all exceptional. It all depends on the talent and vigilance on a film set when a film is being constructed. Not every production timeline is common to all, where some strive to finish fast, others requiring more time. We simply don't know enough information to classify Bond 24 in regards to their timeline.
