I would like to think the second unit will be sent to Spitsbergen for a few days if only to get some establishing shots. That's not all that good really, is it?
Spitsbergen is Norways biggest island. Norway is in Scandinavia. Scandinavian women have been screentestet. Beginning to see a pattern here.
Bond will not go to Austria in Bond 24. And Bond will not go to Morroco either. Both places will double for somewhere else... sigh.
Nothing is certain yet. But I find it weird if they build a big log cabin villa up there in Obertilliach amidst these typical Austrian-style houses. Norwegian architecture of houses are more dark red and less white.
Also, remember that Sölden is also rumoured as location, which is more to West-Tirol.
That's a lot information!
:-O
regarding the news about Austria/Norway: I am from Austria, so I really hope that we'll see 007 also in the movie in Austria... again :)
I've spoken with someone from Obertilliach and they believe (they were told) that Austria will be a location double for Norway. As I've also stated in the article, I am not sure if they have the latest information about that in Obertilliach, because as far as I know they also want to shoot on other locations in Tirol and all these locations look very "alpine", but of course, we don't know yet what they are really looking for. Also another local newspaper was writing about the location double for Norway.
On the other hand I've also heard that they were thinking about (this news I've heard in mid August) filming at a very famous Austrian mountain at about 3000m... Which would somehow not really fit together with the news about the Spitzbergen location double... And there were rumours about editing the script towards Austria - but we don't know yet if this really happened or not.
Yeah... as you can see it's not so easy right know, because they really try to keep it secret as long as possible, as usual.
But at least the filming of the airplane crash is more or less confirmed, as I've heard about it from several independet news sources.
I will try to keep us updated :)
Nice to know about that airplane being crashed on this house somewhere in Austria/Norway. Perhaps it could be part of Bond-less PTS in which Bond eventually has to do research on a crashed airliner. And that brings him later on to Austria. But it could also be a OHMS-/SF-esquema finale in which the hiding place is completely destroyed.
Regarding filming in another part of Austria....at higher altitude. That could very well be the mountains surrounding Sölden no @JamesBondde? That's more west from Obertilliach (like 30 km's). So far, the news seems directing towards a "winter" Bond film....as I was hoping :-).
Vielen Dank @JamesBondde. Ich free much schon. Zegt für 'ne "James Bond ins Schreef" hehe.
Yeah, and maybe it's MH370.
Well, the films have never intended to make up alternative versions of historical events. They are very much grounded in our reality. So, I don't think so.
I was obviously not being serious, merely making the point it could be literally anything and impossible to second guess at this moment.
Ok, I misunderstood it. Disregard that then.
There can always be some kind of reference to it though
But yes, Sölden is in consideration.
Actually very fresh news: It's confirmed that a Bond delegation was in Sölden last year. And of course they hope that BOND 24 will also film in Sölden, but the final decision will be made end of October and in the beginning of November they (austrian and tyrolean film comission) would be allowed to make everything public.
By the way: All inhabitants of Obertilliach will be informed in the next days about the upcoming film shootings in the village!
In January and February Sölden (and all other Austrian ski resorts) are very, very crowded. Will be very interesting to see how or where they want to shoot!
There's nothing nicer than second guess at this point. That's why we crawl on these forums. Confirmations we'll find on the MI6-news page. It's also kinda black and white to say "it's impossible to second guess". It is more and more possible to do so, now more news is getting out (Thanks @JamesBondde).
Also, I found it kinda rude...to make your point with the MH17-crash. Not really necessary. I usually understand you without the MH17-link (Sorry, I have lost an acquintance due to this). Anyway. no hard feelings.
Skyfall already had a helicopter crashing into a building. I doubt it had a plane crash too.
Just saying, it's all conjecture based on nothing. We'll gradually get more news and be able to build a picture. I prefer to build ideas on facts, not blind speculation.
Oh and I'm talking about MH70 - so you don't need to take offence on behalf of anyone.
I was thinking this movie seems to become OHMSS-esque, what with the Alps and everything.

"Local press reports now confirm that filming in Morocco is expected to last 15 days with the principal cast.Specifically, Casablanca and Tangier will be used for shooting."
Source?
And here I am on lunch, just checking in - lots of things shaping up nicely!
I agree with everything you've said except the part about Brosnan being able to pull off the one liners. I thought he put on a decent performance in Goldeneye but he went very much down hill from then on in. To me, Brosnan's deliveries in his latter 3 Bond flicks did not sound natural at all to me. Also, humour in a Bond film is always welcomed by me but in terms of the darker take on Craig's entries, there shouldn't be any more humour than there was in CR. CR struck a good balance between humour and seriousness. I think the only two lines I didn't like in CR were "we wouldn't want that would we" and "I wouldn't dream of it". In this situation, a simple smirk would have been funnier and very appropriate in terms of Craig's portrayal of the character. In QOS, when M said to Bond ""you look like hell, when was the last time you slept?" and Bond simply looked at her with this humourous smirk, that was perfect!
Craig's Bond should be developed even more but that means injecting in some real character movement not trashy throwaway lines. These simply don't suit Craig's Bond. They need to adapt their scripts according to the actor playing Bond which means getting rid of the throwaway one liners for the rest of the Craig era, which I bet they won't. Every ingredient doesn't need to be there just to follow tradition. Mendes tried a bit too hard with SF, what with the one liners and having the DB5 machine guns and the reference to the corny ejector seat. At least the rest of the homages were subtle and executed well.
I wish these set photo articles on Mi6 didn't reveal what would actually happen. I'm going to just have to look at the picture now and not read anything underneath. Now, I know, I hope it's a plane crashing into the building and not a mere explosion as this would be too much like SF.
I'm still looking forward to the new Bond film to a certain extent but certainly I'm not as excited as I have been in the past what with the news about the type of humour they'll have in Bond 24. Oh well, c'est la vie.
And if filming there only lasts 15 days, then probably it won't be the main location for Bond 24 no? Still, if they go (again) to Tangiers and Casablanca......those are truly beautiful cities.
I read it here first
