That does seem logical yes. Why doubling Austria for Switzerland if both countries are so much alike, at least nature-wise and architecture-wise.

Because Switzerland is probably more recognized around the world and is more luxurious.

That is just an image that the Swiss sell to tourists. Austria has immensely spectacular scenery and its fair share of luxurious hotels and lodges.

Switzerland is just more expensive. My son lives in Zürich and you can only survive there, because the income is much higher.

Okay @JamesPage. Time for another Bond 24-headline ;-).

It sounds more like there is little space to park the production vans and to park a helicopter (for transport or for camerawork). It also does not sound as if they plan to include Herrn Mateschitz' (a.k.a. Red Bull/Formula One) cabin as a film set.

Just out of curiosity, as both countries may look similar; does it really matter if the location is referred to as Switzerland or Austria in the movie? Isn't the most important thing that Bond 24 is being filmed in such a richly scenic location?....and that's it's not some made up country :D

Sorry, but that's bullshit. I'am Austrian, the difference between the two countries are marginal

Of course an Austrian would say that. :) Don't get me wrong, Austria is among the most developed counties on Earth but the difference betwen them is more than marginal. Just look at this chart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Human_Development_Index

Even if the development and standard of living in these two countries were the same they would still be very different as Austria is pretty homogeneous unlike Switzerland with its French and Italian speaking regions.

Anyway, all I was saying a couple of posts ago that even if we can rule out Norway appearing in the story, we still can not be sure that the scenes they will be shooting in Austria will appear as Austria in the movie as Austria can easily be a stand in for other Alpine countries.

Yeah baby! My country storms the chart at no# 4 :D. Although Netherlands is as flat as a pancake, thus not suitable for a Bond film (Hmm, perhaps a thorough research at the largest harbor/port of Europe: Rotterdam).

You say that as if the Bond franchise was some kind of mountain climbing movie series. Netherlands is more than suitable for a Bond film!

I really want to see a gun fight in the basement catacombs that turns into a fist fight gladiator battle between Bond and Hinx!

Yes, a brutal brawl between these two in the Coliseum would be epic. thumbs up!

Just to say it again. I am really exciting for Bond 24 now. The latest locations from Austria really make my head spinning of fantasies :-). I love that log cabin house! Reminds me slightly of the barn from OHMSS and the log cabin from the PTS in TSWLM.

A winter Bond :x Can't help it, these are the most gorgeous locations we've had for a long, long time.

Yeah the diversity of the countries being used really compliment each other in a strong way by themselves but the individual locations planning to be used give a real sense of strikingly different atmospheres, each with their own exotic and exciting appeal. It really feels like they've put more effort into where they want to shoot location wise for this movie more so than any other Bond film for a good number of years now. Furthermore; it's how these locations are going to be used that really has me rubbing my hands together. I'm praying so hard that not only for the movie to be amazing but for the audience to get a real invested and immersed feel by having the movie to have a satisfying length of time in each of the 3 countries.

I don't think so. QoS Is packed with beautiful locations, it is only Forsters rushed idea of the film, that makes it feel otherwise (to some, because I have to say, that I find its sceneries beautiful to look at).

What scenery? Bits and pieces of south America and Italy? What we saw looked promising but it was nothing because very little time was allotted to really take in the environments. Bond 24 seems to be mapping out how they plan to really make use of the locations in an exciting way that requires spending time and breathing in these locations as opposed to horribly breezing through and being mostly left with memories of south American shanty towns and rushed glimpses of Italy.

You are so right, @doubleoego. Time well spent in these lovely locations is important; not rushed through. And I so want to fully enjoy them. I'm very happy with the locations in Bond 24.

Hmm... Same could be said about SF. Bits and pieces of Turkey and China, where Craig even never set his foot. Frame-by-frame QoS is probably the best looking Bond-movie, since TLD, IMO. The only problem is, that you need to watch it at slowmo to appreciate it ;-)

"Yes, a brutal brawl between these two in the Coliseum"

I'm sure it has been; but what percentage of the audience will be sitting there going " Hey! Bruce Lee's already done that! Twice!" ;)

So consider it done. Mendes could never resist copying someone else and call it a homage.

Can I say that the Colosseum reminds me a bit of the Opera scene from QOS, in Bregenz? I think it won't be the stage of a big fight. It'll be the start of something bigger. I think this Colosseum could very well be the place where the villain (and henchman) plan a meeting or a reception of some kind.

From there on something happens and either the villain or a certain "lead" escapes and Bond starts pursuing him, ending up in his new Aston Martin. So then the car chase kicks in.

But it's also possible that the Roman Colosseum will have a similar use as Gizeh in TSWLM, so that indeed an intense fighting scene could take place.

Would it be safe to say that anything put on the screen today could be compared to something done in the past.

I think it's a good idea to make a list of shooting locations in each and every country for Bond 24 we have now. And then between brackets if...
    A) the location has been scouted,
    B) the location can be confirmed,
    C) if it is confirmed for a stay for cast and/or crew, and
    D) if the location has been cancelled completely by EON

So as of 23.10.2014 we can now make this update (I'd welcome any help :-)):

United Kingdom (shooting days: not known):
--> Buckinghamshire, Pinewood Studios [location can be confirmed]
--> London [location can be confirmed]

    Italy (shooting days: not known):
--> Rome, Via Quattro Fontane & Colosseum [location can almost be confirmed]
--> Caserta, il Palazzo Reale di Caserta [location can almost be confirmed]

Morocco (shooting days: 15 days, for both Casablanca & Tanger):
--> Casablanca [location can almost be confirmed]
--> Tanger [location can be confirmed]
--> Marrakech, Atlas Mountains [location can be confirmed]

Austria (shooting days: Obertilliach, 45 days, of which between 3 and 7 days inside village):
--> Altaussee (Lake Altaus), Jagdhaus Seewiese, log cabin villa [location can be confirmed, kicks off shooting in Austria, January 6th 2015]
--> Obertilliach, East-Tirol, large wooden alpine house [location can be confirmed, +25 min. screentime in film]
--> Sölden, West-Tirol, Rettenbachferner Glacier [location has been scouted]
--> Lesachtal , Carinthia [confirmed for long stay for cast and/or crew]
--> Lienz, Grand Hotel Lienz [confirmed for a stay for cast and/or crew]
--> Lavant, Dolomiten Golf Hotel [confirmed for a stay for cast and/or crew]
--> Dachstein, Dachstein Glacier, Styria [location cancelled completely by EON]
