If only!!!
Well I guess it's safe to say that know one leaving the cinema had thoughts like "what are useful fellow this Bond guy is".
My news item would look more like this:
-- The title is officially "THE DAME FROM CASABLANCA".
-- Confirmed cast: Daniel Craig, Tilda Swinton, Dave Bautista, Marion Cotillard, Lea Séydoux, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw, Albert Finney, Mark Strong
-- We get a big leading female villain for the first time since Klebb/Grant. Not a good girl turned bad....
-- Oscar winning actress TILDA SWINTON will play that female villain (she will train/work heavily with Dave Bautista).
-- MICHAEL G. WILSON: "Swinton/Bautista are the antagonists with largest amount of screen time, but are not the driving force of the villain's scheme...We had to cast a "special" appearance for that...." :-O.
-- Another larger Bond-girl role will be played by MARION COTILLARD (another Oscar winner, she will have a lesbian love connection with Tilda Swinton).
-- LEA SEYDOUX and DAVE BAUTISTA are now confirmed.
-- Filming wil for the most part (60%) take place in Austria.
-- MARK STRONG will play a French agent from Europol, a "Felix Leiter-esque role"
-- A combination of skiing and the incredibly dangerous art of "freeskiing" will be used as stunt, and will be filmed by both 1st unit Mendes/van Hoytema on IMAX and 2nd unit who will use new GoPro-IMAX camera equipment.
-- Car chase will be the longest in the franchise: For a full 8 min's, set in Rome.
-- Bond will visit for the first time in his life Vesper's grave, near Buckinghamshire.
-- In that scene, part of PTS, ALBERT FINNEY will have a cameo as Kincade.
-- THOMAS NEWMAN will team up entirely with ALISON GOLDFRAPP: For both the score and the theme song.
Well by jolly.....if onlyyyyy the above could be real news :-P.........
I've been suggesting a co-operation between Arnold and Newman for a year. It'd be fantastic.
No, they thought more something like this really: "Sjee, great film it was!"
It wouldn't be consistent, and someone might loose some teeth...
Indeed. I was thinking more in terms of Thomas Newman vs. Goldfrapp.
well since we are making up news
-- The title is officially "The Hildebrand Rarity".
-- Confirmed cast: Daniel Craig, Idris Elba, Dave Bautista, Emma Watson, Lea Séydoux, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw, Albert Finney, Mark Strong
-- Quantum returns
-- Mark Strong plays a shadowy character we believe is the villian untill it turns out he is a pawn in Quantum's game and becomes an ally of bond ala Colombo.
-- MICHAEL G. WILSON: " Quantum is back in a big way they have suffered huge loses from the events of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace in The HIldebrand Rarity they attempt to recapture those loses with intrest this is essentially their Thunderball"
-- The greatest Ski chase ever recorded on film will be in this movie.
-- Trevor Rabin will be doing the soundtrack.
-- Yes will be doing the theme song
Playing who? Bond's long lost daughter? :))
Yawn ...Quantum was a dud... let it die.
A rumour, with a source, or a comment by someone?
It was ME all along :-j
Sigh ... we need real news.
My opinion on a few things mentioned:
~ Two main composers collaborating together will not happen.
~ Mendes "debacle"? Concerning Bond? No such thing.
~ Yes there are other threads to debate Idris as Bond or a black Bond, not this one please.
~ I think the main Bond girl (British) has been a done deal and is under wraps.
~ The news conference cannot come soon enough!
:)
The whole delay because they desperately wanted Sam to return was a fiasco in my mind. The producers looked weak, because there are plenty of worthy directors out there, and Mendes didn't look much better after suggesting he definitely didn't want to return, only to do a complete U-turn. I'm not saying this will have tainted the overall project, but at the time it all seemed a bit desperate and there was no need for it to have been made public.
If Mendes wanted time off that badly then he should have just skipped a film and returned for Bond 25. Delaying Bond 24 just for him was a bad move imo.
John Logan was hired to write Bond 24 and Bond 25, but he also had plays and other projects. He only got around to completing a first draft of Bond 24 in the spring (after the two-part plan was jettisoned).
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have plays they like to be involved with.
I do think Sam Mendes's conflicting statements were a bit much. He went from saying the thought of doing Bond 24 made him ill:

To saying he had story threads from Skyfall he wanted to explore, even calling Bond 24 the second part of a two-part story, at least figuratively.

I just think Bond 24 was always more likely to come out in 2015.
Idris Elba (as the villain)
Mark Strong (as an ally)
Léa Seydoux
Dave Butista
+ mystery British actress
Altough none of them are as acclaimed as Javier Bardem, Judi Dench or Albert Finney, I believe if this group of actors joined Bond 24, the cast of the movie would be really solid!
I can seriously imagine Denzel Washington being a villain in Bond 24. Think about it. If the rumors are true about them wanting to cast a black actor to play the villain, wouldn't he be the perfect choice?
Denzel would be great ... but I think he will not be in it. Just a gut feeling.
The rumors are about them wanting to cast a black actor. Neither Ejiofor, nor Elba are African American.
A long time, trustworthy member of another 007 forum wrote that Ejiofor is not the name he was given nearly 12 months ago, but he was the back up. So it could be possible they got the actor they wanted and that's why Ejiofor is out.
When someone asked this person whether the name he was given was a black actor too, he replied that "Yes...that was the whole idea about the villain this time out..." So if all of this is true, then the main villain will be played by a black actor. Ejiofor is British. Does that mean their first choice is British too? If yes, Idris Elba seems to be the most likely candidate.
