The hook was the death of M.

Morgan and Craig mentioned more than one hook

I should have said one if the hooks.

Do you really think the reintroduction of two characters as old as the whole franchise is something a writer really brags about?

Are you always this insulting? (I truly had to censor my response btw).

Parden? I was merely asking a question ( against my true self in a non sarcastic style ) and you judge this as insulting? These political correct times certainly ain't mine!

    Join Islamic State B-)

Daniel Craig IS James Bond in FROM IS WITH... er...

FROM IS WITH INSULTS (Damn, this title actually sounds awesome :-O)

Michael Wilson & Barbara Broccoli? If you read this. MOVE THE PRESS CONFERENCE FORWARD TO NOVEMBER 6TH (sorry)!

@Matt_Helm no worries... your comment just came off condescending more so than insulting. Not worth the argument. And FROM IS WITH INSULTS??? How about FEEDING THE FLAMES OF HELL lol.

I found an article on an Austrian website about bond 24, that doesn't seem to be good news. I tried translating it but I can't seem to make it out. It says something about the outing being submerged once again and a delayed confidentiality clause.

Yep, they [Grand Hotel Tuffbad, Lesachtal] had to remove all correspondence from their Facebook-webite :-). It's a ouble-confirmation that EON is heading to that hotel for Bond 24 ;-).

Those journalists of Kleine Zeitung are doing great stuff. Perfect bit of research journalism. I also wonder why MI6-HQ can't do that sometimes? Simply calling a few people, vp's, CEO's to ask if "Bond 24 will be heading to your place"?

If you get answer A) "Uhm no, we never had contact with the EON producers" --> confirmation that they won't go there.
If you get answer B) "I am sorry, we can not respond to that" --> confirmation that they will go there
    :-).

I'm okay with knowing they will go there. It is lovely! But I don't want to know what happens there.
  • So if I'm a betting man I would put money on the following:

SPECTRE returns. Two reasons. Mendes and Craig get and love classic
Bond. Skyfall is full of Bond nerd love. These are the guys I want
making Bond films, and Michael and Barbara get it and fully support it.
We should all be grateful to them. Second, Eon wouldn't pay a fortune
for the rights to Blofeld and crew and not use it. There is a reason
they put down money to secure the rights.

QUATUM dies. Flemings Blofeld origin story was built on playing spies
off against each other. Perhaps he does this with Quantum and m16/
Bond, leading to the emergence of SPECTRE. Bond helps destroy Quantum with Blofelds help only to unwittingly help the evil one create Spectre. What a great way to wrap Quantum up but also move on to next big thing.

Blofeld. Not this movie. Think of Mendes' Skyfall ending. He gets how
to finish the film and please Bond fans. 24 will end up with a reveal
that SPECTRE and Blofeld are back. Classic SPECTRE meetings and a
hidden Blofeld. It will be an absolute killer way to end the film,
and get everyone geared up for 25 (the last Mendes / Craig Bond trilogy
film setting up the Connery originals).

Casting. Back to Fleming. They are not frightened to go back to the
books or shake things up but at the same time respect the film history.
Be prepared. Blofeld may not have a cat or be bald.

I don't think they are doing that ...don't see Logan being that clever but Blofeld has a fascinating backstory that could be updated and embellished. Would be fun to see him establishing SPECTRE as part terrioism for hire...but all for money.. maybe bald but no cat... could employ reminents of Quantum. Update TB take out if the water and plant on soil. Yup that would be fun and a chance to reboot the Blofeld trilogy.
  • Blofeld could easily be rebooted without having to re-adapt any of Fleming's novels, which some people think would have to happen.

    That's true too.

And even the death of Tracy does not need to happen again. Blofeld existed before her and even in YOLT Bond and MI6 did not know Shatterhand was Blofeld until later on.

True ...the reboot has not even addressed that yet...could even be donewith a simple sstatement and jump in time. But then why not.... I'm not if could work either but could even in different incarnations vs a straight remake. That would boring and disappointing.

Yes, that sets a good precedent for a future film.

People seem to forget that Tracy's murder happened and the end of the second novel featuring Blofeld, when there was a whole novel to build his antagonism with Bond.
  • Regarding Tracy: No, On Her Majesty's Secret Service absolutely does not need to be done again and Tracy does not need to appear and be killed off again. But after Craig's tenure, they could reference, if they so desired, both Vesper and Tracy as Bond's lost loves, thus creating a new floating timeline for the present Bond films that embraces the entire series (Connery-Craig). That's how I would go about it personally.
  • I'm all for mining whatever unused Fleming they can, but I'm adamantly against reusing parts that have already been in the films or especially reusing titles.

I don't see that Casino Royale '06 necessarily has to be ground zero after Craig finishes, though. As I suggested in my post before yours, there could easily be a future floating timeline that acknowledges all the previous Bond adventures (From Russia With Love, Moonraker, Licence to Kill, The World is Not Enough, Quantum of Solace, what-have-you) as having existed for whoever's currently Bond. In fact, we actually already kind of have that, oddly enough, with Skyfall being linked to Goldfinger.

No remakes, please! What is done is done, I'm all for them using elements or even characters not used before from the books but not remake the films. Although I'm firmly against setting timelines, I completely agree with @Some_Kind_Of_Hero that the Bond we have now has already lived a lot (if not all) of the adventures that came pre-CR.

Not remakes, faitfhul adaptations of the novel. There's a deep difference.
  • The beauty of the Craig films is they tell the story of what happened before Connery and the following films...how he got his license to kill, the Aston Martin, Moneypenny...the only element that doesn't make sense is Dench's M but I guess Mendes solved that one. A Blofled/SPECTRE origin story fits nicely into this territory and if done correctly will keep the integrity of the Connery and subsequent movies. I think Mendes was quoted as saying he wanted Skyfall to tuck right into Dr No, hence the ending in the old M16 office. I think they have plenty of creative space to still explore in the origin territory without wrecking havoc with Bond history. Heck, we could even have a reverse play on YOLT, which has been largely unused. Introduce Shatterhand and have him turn into Blofeld later. Nice riff on Fleming.

The movies wil be in spirit of Carver and Blofeld. What there do with Quantum (of Solace) be OHMSS / FRWL Blofeld style. Bond 24 and Bond 25 wil shaking things up like Tomorrow Never Dies. If Greene not return, my expections there use him or Silva as DR No death in FRWL to take revenge on Bond. Again Thunderball (Return of Quantum) straight in to or mixed up with OHMSS, Yolt Blofeld is not intresting. There should have learn from it that mystery Quantum leader stay longer secret, it going to be a woman or mabey there wil never show her to Bond, mabey only to us.

It's really astonishing to me, that after all those years there are still people out there, that don't get the concept of a reboot. As I said astonishing!

    Long lost cousin,perhaps ;)
  • You know what, great point re reboot. You can go nuts trying to connect 50 years of films together, when in reality there are some serious inconstencies to deal with. Easier to start from scratch with perhaps some winks and nods to the past a la Skyfall and CR. Still would love to see Blofeld and SPECTRE back. Think they could it in a very original way that avoids the Dr Evil pitfalls. We'll see.

Trying to get back on topic, while I am not a fan of Mark Strong and although I thought it was most likely a rumour, I thought the possibility of him playing a villain was interesting, because him and Craig are such very close friends. Yes, he plays villains in other movies, but his chemistry (for lack of a better word) with Craig could have so much potential. I know people say he could play an ally, which would be against type, but I think in this particular instance, a villain would have had far more potential. More potential in the Bond movie itself, but also in regards to his other villainous roles.
