Christoph Waltz is a great name to have on board. Can't wait to find out more.

Mexico is pretty cool as a final location. Lots of globetrotting this time.

It's good to see the screenwriters being part of the readthrough as well. That must be some great action lined up. Action, which Butterworth helped on.

    Three weeks left!

They are just repeating Baz but forgot to mention that Baz said it's not clear whether he will play the main villain.

A lot of people here are absolutely sure that Waltz will play the main baddie. I am certain he won't. Anyone want to bet 100 British pounds? ;)

Nope. I'm waiting for the press conference.

This is great news. Regardless of his role, Waltz is not only a great actor, he's also a scenery chewer of the highest calibre.

I'd imagine whatever role he has, he'll be right up there with the great characters from the series.

I have reason to believe Mexico will be the location for the pre-titles sequence.

Echoes of LTK with the Mexico connection. They will be standing on the shoulders of giants!

It is a possibility. At the very moment, I can't imagine him playing a role other than the villain. I mean, he's not going to do some intensive mentoring to Bond like he did to Django. The way I think, that is. But, no one can be sure. We won't be knowing anything at all until the press conference, that is the only truth we know.

Mexico... Possible this mean we get return of Camile or/and Dominic Greene as pretitle. I prefer to see Chiwetel Ejiofor or/and Mark Strong. So i hope actor news is not true as happend also with that editor there whant first for Skyfall.

The news is true and even if it wasn't, Ejiofor would still be out.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2833780/BAZ-BAMIGBOYE-Tarantino-villain-Bond-s-cunning-nemesis.html Well, now Christoph Waltz has been confirmed, it's time to look at the character description. And in all honesty? I really think we could be heading towards a slow introduction of the character Blofeld ;-). Christoph Waltz character is being described as "I am told that the part is a complex one. It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both. He is extremely cunning, a nemesis of sorts".

This smells like.....we are perhaps heading towards an epic of two films (Bond 24 & Bond 25) in which we actually SEE the character evolve from an ally towards a villain. Perhaps....Blofeld? I think this would be a typical Sam Mendes thing to do also. That we now see another complex character evolve from a rooky to the person he is now. Not Bond, but the villain....

Whatever role Christoph Waltz has been signed up for.......it'll be a major role. Waltz will not just play a Fleix Leiter type of character. No way. Villain, ally.....or from ally to villain.....it'll be a large role for Waltz. By the way.....Bond is going completely viral with this casting news. And that will drive up interest for Bond 24 in a similar way as compared to Bardem in "Skyfall" :-).

Something that hasn't been done before, well, discounting Trevelyan (perhaps?), I think this two-parter storyline is going to provide us with a mindblowing excitement to witness and enjoy. And regarding to this revelation, at the very moment, I'm on fire.

Bond 24 and 25 won't have a two-parter storyline. Mendes confirmed on Charlie Rose this year that one of the reasons he returned was that the producers agreed to make Bond 24 a stand alone movie.

I'd love to see a Blofeld three story arch, with Blofeld only in a few
Key scenes in the first, like TB. Bond 24 seems to be getting a fantastic
    Cast list.

2 part story line?? Did I miss something?

Also, interesting how there's no mention of Logan attending the read through but Butterworth, Purvis and Wade get mentioned.

This role proved that Waltz can be just as amazing playing a good guy as playing a villain.

He's a great actor, his only dud movie was the green hornet.
  • Actually, the choice is for Christoph Waltz is quite logical really. Quite typical "Bond" as well. Waltz is again a European actor who rose to north american attention due to breakthrough roles, and then Hollywood was looking for a way to capitalize on them.

It started with Mads Mikkelsen (Danish), then Mathieu Amalric (French), then Javier Bardem (Spanish) and now Christoph Waltz (Austrian, although Klaus Maria Brandauer is Austrian too) ;-).

I couldn't agree with you more. I want desperately for them to leave Quantum in the past and create something new.

Yes, a film which I consider an insult to its source material.

A little trivia: Christoph Waltz will be the first two-time Academy Award winning actor to appear in a James Bond film! Not a single actor with more than 1 Oscar has ever appeared in a Bond film before Bond 24.

Yes. It's an 'obvious' choice, but sometimes that's no bad thing. He is on paper absolutely perfect. Here's hoping P+W and Buttermunch have delivered.
