with a guy named Christoph Waltz onboard, i highly doubt that Mr. Scott will be the main villain or threat above him.. i just can't see it.... he may be playing a villain or bad guy, but not the main one...
but then again, who knows - everything we think we know up to this point is based on rumor and conjecture... for all we know Waltz could be the villain, or he could turn out to be similar to a Columbo or Kristatos - where you aren't really sure who, or what their intentions are until about halfway through the film.... or he could just be an MI6 janitor in one walk on scene :O)
My thoughts would be that mirror.co.uk is completely wrong which wouldn't be surprising since it's the lowest tabloid newspaper in the UK as far as I know.
Calm down. You'll get your answers tomorrow.
Overreact much??
Come on now Chicken Little, the sky is not falling :).... but seriously man... go get a beverage of your choice, lay down, and relax..
Yes, the sky isn't falling because this Scott story is just a silly rumour from a UK tabloid for now. But if this rumour becomes a reality then GAME OVER. This isn't an overreaction, just my honets opinion.
I do hope the Bellucci rumor is true though. After her missed opportunity with Tomorrow Never Dies that really would be wonderful to have her in a Bond film either in a supporting role or as a villainess. I mentioned in another thread some time ago how much I would love the idea of a more mature villainess who's still dangerously attractive and Bellucci would fit such a part tremendously. Fingers crossed for Bellucci come Thursday. C'mon, Bond team, make it happen!
I don't mind him having a role in Bond. Just don't know what. And of course it's a big "if" ... but just hours away now. :)
So you've pretty much admitted that you care more about fame than acting ability. Which makes no sense at all.
It's this sort of snobby attitude that SF has created amongst a couple of Bond fans and I can't stand it. We've had plenty of unknowns in Bond films before. Fucking Sean Connery wasn't famous at all and look how that turned out!
If it were up to people like you then people like Mads Mikkleson, Robert Carlyle, Robbie Coltrane, etc, would never have gotten a part in a Bond film because, despite being incredible actors with plenty of recognition in their home countries, they're not these big actors that constantly get nominated for Oscars no matter what the role (Waltz, for example, didn't deserve an Oscar nom for Django, Leo did).
You've never seen Andrew Scott before. You admitted as much. But you're writing him off because "he's a nobody" (and he isn't a nobody, he's actually fairly famous, he's just not one of the usual actors that the Academy bum off).
Actually since a you and a few others seem to care about is awards, he won a Bafta not long ago for his role in Sherlock (which he was brilliant in). And before you say "it was a TV Bafta", doesn't matter. Some people (myself included) would argue that TV shows have been surprassing film over the last couple of years.
Saying all that, I doubt he's the main villain, not with Waltz on board. But if he is, who cares? And you don't want him to have "any significant part", because he's not famous enough for you?
Stop bitching, stop being a snob and lets wait and see how he does in the film (if he is cast) before complaining. He's certainly talented enough to be a great addition.
His reaction to Scott's casting proves that.
I agree to a certain extent with your assessment. It is off course bullocks to write of unknown actors before they actually appear in a Bond film.
But to call Skyfall-fans "snobs" is the other extreme. Both Mads Mikkelsen (back in 2005/2006 relatively unknown) and Javier Bardem (back in 2011/2012 a very expensive, well-known, Oscar-winning actor) did marvelous things to the Bond franchise.
Lotte Lenya back in 1963 and Christopher Walken back in 1985 were highly established drama/stage actors and won several prizes. But Donald Pleasence in 1967 and Jeroen Krabbé in 1987 were quite unremarkable actors at that time.
For the latest Bond films, we can see a trend towards more famous actors being cast for a Bond role (Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Christoph Waltz, to name a few). But please only see it from the perspective of brand awareness (free) marketing and (free) promotion. I don't care so much if the actor is known or unknown. Both Le Chiffre and Silva were memorable Bond villains (Also thanks to wonderfully crafted screenplays, tailored around the wishes of the actor).
But it does create a lot of free viral marketing. I even think that the inclusion of the actual name "Javier Bardem" contributed to the creation of extra awareness, hence the 1 Billion Dollar figures. I see that as an extra advantage. Not as a disadvantage. And isn't it just wonderful that our beloved Bond franchise is not doing just great.....but absolutely fantastic, insanely great? A new "Golden Era of Bond"?
Regarding this Andrew Scott rumour? It came from The Mirror. And although they could be right about the inclusion of the actor, I don't trust their interpretation of this "news". Especially not their headline. So perhaps he will play another 00-agent who's killed off very early during the movie? Such a role, for me, would sound slightly more plausible :-).
I can scarcely believe what a load of ageist, sexist tosh I'm reading on this thread !!!!!!!!!
And this is not just aimed at Ludovico's comment by the way - but all those posters who flippantly dismiss Monica as a credible 007-babe.
I think the boys here (and yes boy is the correct term) are all a little too brainwashed by Instagram/Michael Bay/Youporn etc., thinking that any woman over 38 cannot qualify as sexually desirable.
Belucci is a beautiful woman, and having Bond seduced / challenged / teased (or whatever really...) by an alluring woman his senior would add an interesting dynamic to the Bond franchise not previously seen. The series needs slight curve-balls like this.
It would not just be good casting - it would actually be REFRESHING if Belucci was a Bondgirl.
well said. @PP recently has been behaving like a childish loon.
i have no reservations about her possible casting at all because of her age, she's an attractive woman....
all i ever ask is that they can act... I'm burnt out from the days of Terri Hatcher, Denise Richards and Halle Berry..
And I am gay, very liberal, certainly not sexist, perhaps even a-sexual....and I think it would be refreshing if Monica Bellucci would play a sexy, though evil and villainous femme fatale in the vein of "Bond bitches" Rosa Klebb, Fiona Volpe & Irma Bunt :-). IF off course Bellucci is really cast in Bond 24....
Sorry but I don't think Fiona Volpe can be put in the same bracket as the other two ;) - Volpe was incredibly hot, she was more than a 'Bond bitch', she was a real 'Bondgirl', just not on the same side as 007...
