They won't be bringing up a drop down the chimney for Blofeld in Moore's era.
This Blofeld is "modernized" ... to which degree, and how successfully that is done, we shall see. This could go in so many different directions. And I, for one, sincerely hope we do not have any true reboot/remake of Tracy.

When I think of a successful (and for me very successful!) "modernization" of an iconic character, I look at the new BBC Sherlock. I love what they have done. And who would have pegged Benedict to play Holmes? Or Andrew Scott to play Moriarty (especially in that way)?

I hope Mendes and EON are clever and intelligent and give us something remarkable. It is a golden opportunity for them. Again this highlights the supreme importance of the script.

Very happy indeed with the cast! :-bd

At the risk of overthinking this, what is really curious to me is the already much talked about logo with the cracked glass and spider legs.

Does this mean that Tracy has already been killed in Craig's universe? Or does it mean that the Tracy story is yet to come in a remake, perhaps in B25, as a Craig swansong (perhaps with Mendes back on board for a big pay day)?

Reintroducing someone who was last seen being dropped down a chute 33 years ago raises so many possibilities......and so many questions.

Perhaps Madeleine Swann is the Rebooted era's Tracy...

That is a very interesting idea, and one that did flash across my mind earlier today, given her look at the press conference (not sure why). That would make for an interesting segueway into Bond 25. It would also mean she is not a bad gal, but rather a love interest.

    Got to love speculating.

De-lurking for a moment. Very surprised by the title. I guess it means the movie will have to "do what it says on the tin". :)

Love the teaser poster and the octopus!

And is it confirmed that Mr White is back? Can someone supply the source link? I fine that news very exciting, that they might be tying all the movies together.

He looked pretty good. Hair style was more CR'ish which I like. I felt he looked better today than in the SF press conference where he was overshadowed to some extent by Javier Bardem

"A cryptic message from Bond's past..."

How can they make this resonate with the audience?

Is it from Vesper? From M (in the bulldog, as has been rumoured)? From Tracy? From Mathis?

    I wonder...

Hi I posted about the Dalton Bull dog yesterday, further backed up by Ralph Fiennes comment that "Dame Judi's ghost will still be haunting the place".

Is this a rumour @SirHilaryBray, or have you got an inside scoop? It would be interesting if they use the Bulldog. Direct link to the end of SF and makes the gift more meaningful (M gives it to Bond in case of her death since he's the only one she knows she can trust with the contents within).

Are you speculating or quoting a source?

Skyfall he did go under weight and did do so many gym sets to look like the broken wreck for the story. A slick comb over like the CR press shots with the PPK & silencer is what I am guessing.

And if that's the case, then B25 can be "Shatterhand," with Bond chasing down Blofeld to get his revenge. Seems to reason that this could have been the 2-film arc that Logan first pitched to EON.

Of course then you would have Skyfall - Spectre - Shatterhand -- you could've have made alot of money in Vegas a few years back betting on 3 consecutive one-word titles starting with "S"

Question: If they were to re-introduce Blofeld in SPECTRE, would they have to explain Roger's helicopter-chimney-drop from FYEO? Because if yes, I wonder how that'll go.

Nope, because Casino Royale rebooted the series, and it ignored the previous Bond movies (plot-wise, I mean). Craig's Bond is in a different timeline from previous Bond actors.

Dan looks much healthier and younger than in SF.

Its scoop mate, I think a pen drive with a video of M. Possible Dame Judi cameo. Maybe details of who was behind the extortion plot with Vespers boyfriend

Probably he was going through problems in SF, so they wanted to give him a little bit of "ill" look rather than being healthy. Now that he's back on track after MI6 is reshaped, (and as all the ships have been repaired for the future battles, you'd see that in M's paintings at the end), Bond should definitely look healthier.

"...She's strong but she's like Bond in a way. She's strong and she's very... sensitive. She's fragile and I think that Bond is the same. So, she became more masculine, more "viral" and Bond is maybe more feminine now so it's nice to mix them both."

    Mmmmm.

Tried to get here after the announcement, but couldn't enter at all, then was away from home for hours, and now have finally read through stuff here.

Not quite sure about the title, but it's interesting and I assume a possible double meaning there, and... well, it's growing on me already. I'll probably be very fond of it pretty soon. :D The font was nice and I love the teaser poster - clever and looks very good. Thrilled to hear Mr White will be back, and happy about Newman returning, too. And what a beautiful car, oh my. About the new cast members - I'm neither "oh yes" nor "oh no" about anyone. I will be happy to see what they'll do. And Daniel looked good.

    All set...

Btw, I find what Mendes said about the villain very, very interesting. :-? I mean... is everyone absolutely convinced there'll be Blofeld in this movie? There wouldn't have to be, right?

I've been at work today and only got the chance to read through the forum this evening and read everyone's reaction. Time to give my too pennies now I suppose:

    Title
Being brought up with the Bond of the 90's, I hold no real nostalgia for the old organisation other than affection through being an avid Bond fan. I must admit that the title doesn't bowl me over, but it is good - undoubtedly Bondian and obviously Fleming, which is very positive.

    Teaser poster
Stunning. Caught a cheeky peek on my phone at work. Grinned and got goosebumps. Really clever concept with the gunshot too.

    Cast
Other than the regulars, I love Seydoux, Waltz and Bautista. I am neutral about Belucci. She's fantastic for 50, but I really hope that she does play a "wicked woman" a la Helga Brandt. I feel very 'meh' about Andrew Scott, but I wait to be proved wrong. The characters that they play sound intriguing, but obviously they are not allowed to give too much away. Not that they "don't know"! Excited by the return of Mr. White - a twist worthy of Hitchcock :D

    DC
Looks in good shape and style. Best he's looked since CR. Sounds very comfortable and clearly ever growing into the role. Really looking forward to seeing him in action.

    Locations
Good. Hope they make the most of every single location, especially with Mexico City which I don't think gets enough exposure in mainstream film. Despite some craziness over snowy locations, I am not over-hyped by them. Snow can be anywhere and I hope they bring out the uniqueness of the locations.

I will be bound to have more reaction soon but all I've got off the top of my head!

    BRING IT ON!

Best day ever as as Bonf fan ever. The return of Blofeld. Brilliant casting and rumours of Mr Whire returning. Can it get any better?
  • This made me crack up at work. Thank you for that @muddyw =))

Michael G. Wilson is 72 yo and for instance did not appear on the AP photos done after the photocall, whereas Barbara Broccoli did appear in photos with Craig & Mendes. It seems he was there according to some reports but didn't want to be on the photos. I'm not sure it's tasteful to joke about it.

I think DC has had some work done--and that is not to sound judgmental or critical. I saw DC in person in NYC last year, and I couldn't believe how old and tired he looked. He honestly looked 60. His blond hair was graying, which was why I thought they went so short for SF: to minimize the appearance of the gray hair, rather than dye it. There is no doubt in my mind that he's had a little coloring this time, allowing for the longer cut.

Am I the only one who is tired of these lead women who are 'quite like Bond but more sensitive' á la Vesper Lynd?

Nearly all the good girls have been like this in the Craig era, Séverine being the only exception. Why can't they make them a little wackier? Is this the only way they can come up with a well-rounded character for a Bond girl ally?

I won't be shocked if she's gonna become Mrs. Bond. If she did, I wouldn't mind to hear a reprise of "We have all the time in the world" melody in the score of the movie.

Title has sat with me all day and I still don't care for it. Definitely seems lazy. But at the end of the day, the film matters, and if Mendes delivers and really impresses me this time, then I couldn't care less what the title is.

I've got to speak my mind on this one. "She's becoming more masculine and he's becoming more feminine", isn't this a bit frustrating? Can't we just have a straight-out Bond adventure for a change?
