Yes. They'll only remain surprises if we don't pay too much attention to this thread though.

Spectre Sam Mendes hints at 'more mischief' in new James Bond film

This title "SPECTRE" is doing weird things to people. I mean, once you say "Spectre Sam Mendes" or Spectre's cinematographer", it basically looks like they all are members of Spectre :-P. This title really causes twists and turns :-P.

He has an interesting way to say at least SOMETHING without revealing, what he doesn't want to.
Oh and please somebody - how exactly do you interpret mischief here? There are lots of translations offered.

What if Tanner is Blofeld? that would be a killer twist, Mitchell worked for M for years before the events in QOS if he could infiltrate MI6 then Tanner could be the same. In Skyfall it was he who alerted M to the fact her computer was being accessed. He timed it wonderfuly in the car on the bridge for M to see MI6 explode. He may have helped Silva access the network. He new M's movement on the eve[img][/img]nts of Skyfall so Silva would know she would be giving evidence at the enquiry in order to plan our his attack. He is also going bald.

Damn I was scouring this thread to see who the title song artist was but it turns out that it's "has been chosen" not "who has been chosen"

It looks like everyone got the ball rolling early on this one so no writers strike mess that was QOS and 50th anniversary obligations of SF, just a plain sailing adventure.

    I'm really hoping for Muse

Funny you should say that @SirHilaryBray I was wondering the same thing about M aka Mallory. I really hope that it isn't the case as it would be a bad idea. But the thought did flash across my mind. If the rumours of the Skyfall dog containing something of a clue for Bond are true. Maybe it's evidence showing Mallory to be some one else altogether.
I'd prefer to see Ralph Fiennes stay as an ally, and continue to serve as M for the foreseeable future myself.

Creating havoc. It's actually the meaning of "Sciarra", Monica's role in SPECTRE ;-)

One thing I don't want with SPECTRE or Bond 25 is for them to re boot the story of Tracy. Thats something I would like left alone

I've been a Blofeld supporter and am looking forward to the re imagining but I have to agree with this. Considering that Craig's Bond has already had a love of his life lost, it just doesn't seem right to do that again so quickly. But then again, Blofeld killing Tracy is what made the relationship between him and Bond so personal in the books. At this point, I trust the filmmakers that they know what they're doing. Guess we'll see what happens.

But if Mr White turns out to be Blofeld then he has already killed Daniel Craig's "Tracy"...

Benny, Cant see it being Mallory, the synopsis indicate he is fighting the goverment to keep MI6. To quote the BBC "Andrew Scott, as a Whitehall-based character called Denbigh" Whitehall for those who don't know is the offices of the heads of British government departments i.e HMRC, Department of Culture, Current Affairs etc. etc. my guess is Scott wants MI6 to be shut down but rather than for any legitimate reasons Only to get them out of the way for his employers. Remember QOS Guy Haynes the "The PM's right hand man" A Qauntum member with goverment power.

Different timeline. I think the way to view everything before Daniel is it did'nt happen. What you need to remember is at the start of QOS M had only just made Bond a "00" so really there was no "00" missions prior to Casino. The question is how much time has passed between QOS and Skyfall. Did the events of the other films take place in between. There is nothing to indicate they did. I don't think Tracey and her death existed in Daniels universe, I dont think they will ever touch on that. To do it again now would just be a repeat of the Vesper story line. I think your suppose to accept that Vesper was the love of his life and that he will never love again. IMO

Casino Royale took place in 2006 (when Bond inspects the camera recordings, you can see the date "November 2006"), and QoS took immediately after. Even assuming that it took some time for Bond to locate Mr. White after Vesper's death, I doubt that QoS took place in 2007. Skyfall is set in 2012, making that 5-6 years.

2 things give me optimism, and they've both come from Craig recently:

    1. He said they've got a better story this time. That means he realizes that SF had holes and he and Mendes are determined to get it right this time
    2. He said recently that Austin Powers 'f#@*@!" Bond (his words, not mine). That means they won't screw up the reveal, and we're going to get a more realistic Blofeld portrayal with some overtones from the book, either in SPECTRE or in B25. Think Nolan and how Bain was reimagined but yet fit into the Batman lexicon.

These two comments really give us clues, and some hope.

And I agree @JazzyBond, Quantum will be a tentacle of Spectre. Well surmised.

So no cat unfortunately for those who've been waiting for it. And Blofeld may in fact have hair too.

Now, what about the pinky ring? Seems a bit obvious too.

I think it's not gonna happen. Period. I think that bullet hole from the teaser poster incorrectly made us think it's related to Tracy's death.

I am fairly convinced the Craig-timeline will be cherished and will stay intact. If people saw the press meeting yesterday in detail, then you must have seen that wonderful collage of scenes from -only- Craig's previous three outings (I really loved it btw ;-)!).

I think that's how they treat this timeline. All of Craig's predecessors as Bond are completely ignored. And right so. But SPECTRE and Blofeld will be combined in an ingenious story/plot with all of Craig's previous three outings. So Mr White from CR/QOS returns, Vesper from CR will be mentioned, M's death from SF will have implications.

So I strongly believe SPECTRE will be the 4th part in a wonderful quadrilogy of films, in which continuity finally has the ability to flourish. Something that just wasn't possible to do in the 1960's (due to financing the films, legal rights, lack of production capabilities, complicated vs. easy-to-adapt novels, etc.).

I agree completely. I think Craig (who has a lot of influence over how this is going) is determined to create a story arc for his time as Bond to rival the Nolan Batman films.

I am also fairly convinced that EON & he will do whatever it takes to keep Mendes on board for his swansong, meaning he will do his best to ensure SPECTRE is a critical and commercial success.

The 2 movie story arc is in place. They are just hiding it from us.

Yes, of course I know all that! You're missing my point entirely.

The suggestion was that the Tracy storyline shouldn't be repeated in the reboot timeline because we have only recently had Vesper. However it was pointed out that Blofeld having killed the love of Bond's life is what made the relationship between them so personal in the early films.

My point was that if we discover in SP that Mr White actually is Blofeld, then he will actually have killed the love of Bond's life (i.e. Daniel Craig's equivalent of Tracy). That's why it would be such a powerful revelation.

Yes but when SF came out they were also telling everybody what a great, fantastic script they were having. So I'm afraid this means absolutely zilch. If they weren't able to recognise that they had a story and logic disaster on their hands back then, why should they be able to see it now?

I think the logo in its apparent simplicity just shows how much thought has gone into the film. Having the 8 "octopus tentacles" coming from the bullet hole is genius. But to say it's a homage to OHMSS is a bit of a stretch

We can only hope they get it right this time. From what I'm picking up about the story it sounds a bit more intelligent than SF. Hoping the plot is major step up in terms of quality. Please just let there not be any computer hacking nonsense. In fact I'd be glad if we didn't see a computer screne, mobile phone or earpiece for the whole film.

Why shouldn't he? After all it worked very well for him.

maybe no earpiece but with SONY being a major contributor to the film you will more than likely see plenty of computer screens and mobile phones. Who knows. maybe we will have a scene with Bond sitting at home having a few beers (Heineken) while watching a film on his big 4K SONY tv when M knocks the door.

True. We're bound to get laptops and mobile phones. Just hope they get smashed against walls and trodden under foot as early as possible, and then Bond gets down to some proper work. They could spare us the earpiece though. Can't stand that thing.
