Yeah, that's the big question. And I really "hate" Barbara Brocolli & Michael Wilson doing this to us :-? X( . Perhaps they are the heads of SPECTRE. Hence Michael's absence :-O.
That would certainly explain all those cameos! :bz
I have been looking everywhere to find out why..
@CASINOROYALE- The only explanation I can think of is that he is the producer of a big budget film which starts shooting tomorrow, perhaps he was busy?
I love that idea and I love the fact that we may possibly have a female villain in the Daniel Craig-era of Bond.
I think Monica will be a villain - like her troublemaker name suggests :) To be Blofeld though? I don't think so but I am sure she will be part of SPECTRE somehow.
We know there is something in Bond's past that causes him to unearth the disturbing discovery of Spectre and that it all ties in with, presumably the discovery of the body of Hans Oberhauser(Bond's old murdered ski instructor from the books) in a melted glacier
This is all very interesting, way more interesting than learning about SF Manor, IMO.
The plot possibilities, backstory, awesome cast, return of Spectre and Blofeld, Craig's seemingly very relaxed and refreshed approach to the role, all points to potentially one hell of an awesome film.
If Mendes decides this time he wants to dig out the TB jet pack, for another Bond-memory interlude, well, I'll just roll eyes and roll with it.
But, I think we are on the cusp of the dawning of a great new era in the Bond franchise.
The re-boot growing pains may be over.
I am sure the film will be a little too heavy on character drama for my liking, but as long as its not too indulgent, I'll survive.
The story though, holds so much potential.
I think there might be very tangible connections with SF too, in terms of how Mi6 survives the death of its chief in the field, and what this means for the organization going forward.
Maybe even Silva ties in with Spectre or Quantum, or maybe not.
The return of Spectre is double-plus awesome and the brazen title is nothing short of inspired.
I already have the movie ranked at top of the 4 Craig films. It might even penetrate higher, and challenge some of the Broz, Moore and Dalts entries. Maybe push right to the top and push the outer edges of the big 7.
I honestly haven't been this interested in a Bond film build-up since Dalts took over for TLD and the post-Moore era possibilities.
I would really like to see Craig shine as 007, in a full-blown non-origins, non-M trust issues, non-old dog, Bond adventure.
"This is the big one 007" Bernard Lee, YOLT.
=D> 8-X ^:)^
What do you think of the box office potential for SPECTRE @timmer?

BTW, now we have more info on what was true/false in the rumors : what do you think was the biggest "error" in the rumor mill ? and what was the true rumor that nobody believed ?
I'd like to point the Penelope Cruz rumor : it turns out to be wrong, of course, but re-read all that was said about "why" it was "obviously" wrong : no way they would cast someone above 40, it was said, or no way they would cast someone a bit famous : Craig's women were not famous, no way they would do again Brosnan-era type of casting. And, well, here is Monica Belluci :)
Well, I think most rumours were kind of accurate in a way. I mean, I said that it wouldn't be unthinkable to have an actress aged 50+ in a Bond film. I thought Tilda Swinton would be a great idea. Now we have Monica Belluci.
So I think what we're discussing here in the forums @Suivez_ce_parachute isn't that far off from all the brainstorm sessions Barbara, Michael, Sam, John, Neal, Robert, Jezz, Daniel and the rest of the cast had for SPECTRE.
And I do like what they did with the LALD nod with the komodo dragons in SF.
Hated what Forster did with oil-soaked Fields in QoS though. It was too much and not necessary, only 6 years earlier DAD was overloaded with brazen homages
The DB5 thing though in SF, IMO was simply interlude - ie an excuse to jam in the JB Theme music, as Mendes clearly didn't think it fit anywhere else, and toss a hamfisted bone to the complainers such as myself.
For reasons discussed ad nausem, I thought the DB5 interlude was dumb, not to mention cheeseball.
Somehow I doubt, they will go that route again ie non-sensical forced interlude, but if they do, with say the jet-pack, then I will roll eyes and just chalk it up to another AVTAK, Beach Boys type moment.
If they go the FRWL train homage route, it can be done in a seamless way that fits nicely with the film.
Only the first 7 films in this series, IMO are flawless, and I do mean that, I wouldn't change a thing in any of those iconic films. Every scene can be savoured like fine Scotch.
But that's me. I put the first 7 films on a pedestal, along with the Fleming books.
;)
Or maybe he was just busy, overseeing certain things. With the way the press announcement went down, he really didn't need to be there.
Maybe Michael Wilson is out of town ... I don't know, obviously, but he usually attends these kinds of things so I'm just a little concerned.
