Two years ago, we wouldn't be mentioning such limits ;-). 650 to 700 Mil at maximum. It shows that Bond has become bigger.

Very true, but even without a crowded fall, I don't expect them to go north of 1 billion every time now.

SF already tried to pander to the Chinese. A Chinese production company was used for the film though their involvement with the film was not as major a factor as with many other Hollywood-Chinese co-productions.

It turns out that China didn't give yet Sony the money from SF they owe them (25% of the box office according to some). That means 15M$ in the middle of a larger problem involving all recent movies and all studios... For Iron Man III, that means 40M$ missing for Disney !

I've always liked the idea of 'Quarterdeck' as the title of a Bond film (one word titles are usually pretty effective). Anyone else have the same thoughts?

One-word titles are fine, but Quarterdeck strikes me as a bit generic. Not bad, but not particularly striking either.

It's the pronunciation of the word I like. I just keep saying it. 'Quarterdeck, Quarterdeck'

There is a fish & chip bar in Whitby in the North East of England called 'Quarterdeck'. I'll snap a photo next time I'm there :-)

I now have sex and during orgasms I scream "Quarterdeckkk!" :))

When can we expect any cast announcements/rumours ? And more importantly when can we expect a answer to the most important question "Will Deakins return ? "

Not until near production begins, likely late next year.

Deakins was asked this question on his website and was a bit cagey in his response:

What was his response? I see nothing of the sort on the page linked.

    What was his response?

Deakins' reply to the question about returning to Bond 24 and how fans were waiting to know the answer with bated breath was solely this:

    "Funny expression that, 'bated breath."

Hence why I described his reply as "cagey."

However, if Deakins' schedule did not permit Bond 24, he likely would have replied "No" as he has done so before on those forums when fielding questions about his upcoming films.

Hey, his response is much better than a 'no,' I think.

It is confirmd that Avtar 2 wil be released in December 2016, but Avatar 3 wil be released in December 2017 ad Avatar 4 in December 2018. Source: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/28019/fox-announces-three-avatar-sequels

So it is Bond 25 against Avatar 2 or 3. But Skyfall don't have any problem with The Hobbit part 1.

Oh, I didn't see that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Out of curiosity? When do you think it will be until we have some more OFFICIAL news from Eon about Bond 24? Do we think that's it now until the new year?

I would say next year but you never know what will happen. At least we now have a release date and director. That is something.

Concerning the fact that John Logan is penning Bond 24 and Bond 25 at more or less the same time......I'd expect Bond 25 to premiere in November 2017....only two years after Bond 24 November 2015 release.

I agree GG, it seems that in the current enviornment studios are more forth coming with official announcements. Which is quite different than in the past few years where eveything was hush-hush. In the past couple of days we've heard about 'Batman vs. Superman' and Avatar 2, 3, & 4. We will be getting bond 24 & 25 news sooner than later. I am pretty confident bond 25 will be released in 2017.

If it is to be released in 2017, expect an announcement as soon as production on Bond 24 wraps. That is what happened with Quantum Of Solace after Casino Royale in July 2006. I too, believe it can happen.

I too hope for a 2017 release for Bond 25! Logan will have had more than enough time to have Bond 25 fleshed out! Especially if it is a 2 part plot line story?

Out of curiosity I typed into Google Sam Mendes/King Lear project earlier? It runs from Jan 2014 to March 2014. So with that in mind? Do you think we may get an OFFICIAL press conference regarding Bond 24 title and cast appearances in maybe late April 2014? Any thoughts? Cannot recall when Skyfall's took place before they started actual production of the film?

The Conference takes place on near enough the first day of production. So unless filming begins in April - it won't - I wouldn't expect it to be then. They may be aiming for another November-ish time frame again. Skyfall's was November 2011.

oh I see, I guess we do have to wait for all the location rumours and cast ones too I guess. No doubt this forum will be full of chatter on all aspects of it! :-bd

The director's role on a play is weird and totally different from their role on films. In a play the director is heavily involved during the build-up ie casting, staging, costumes, rehearsals etc. When the actual play opens the directors job is essentially done. some directors leave the production at that point, others will occasionally drop in and out and see how it's going, whilst others will stay every night.

Mendes has said in the past that he often leaves his productions after they have opened. Film is after all a director's medium, stage is for the actors.

It's likely that now Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has opened, most of Mendes's energy is being focussed on King Lear. He'll likely be full-time on Bond from Jan 2014. I also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have actors in his sight already and he's just waiting till the script is in better shape before showing it to anyone.
