    Suits a suit.

    I beg to differ.

    Concur.

They weren't "slim fit". They were "didn't fit". It's not really a question of styling, the waist of the jacket was smaller than Craig's waist. There is massive creasing in them and the buttons are being pulled. There isn't anything stylish about ill fitting clothing. You look like you can't afford to have your stuff tailored.

It's the current trend, and imo doesn't look good. I hate a lot of modern tailoring trends such as short jackets and ill-tailored trousers that taper to the ankle. Urgh. Bond should be classic with a couple of modern twists. I'm hoping Tom Ford gives him a little more breathing room this time.

It's a trend in people buying RTW suits, you really aren't gonna see a tailor do that unless someone demands it, and even then most would probably value their reputation more and refuse the client.

I don't really blame TF in this case though as the costumer actually makes that call. I'm hoping with all the negative feedback they ask for a little better fit this go round. With a more classic Bond mission in SPECTRE, I'm optimistic.

On the bright side, Fiennes stuff from Everest has been fantastic.

Is anyone here a world famous fashion designer? Tom Ford is.

I'm not saying people here can't have an opinion about Bond's suits in Skyfall. I'm just saying that I will trust Tom Ford more than non-fashion designer Bond fans when it comes to the suits worn by 007.

The costumer, Jany Temime, specified the suits, not Tom Ford. So you can trust Tom Ford but it's irrelevant. Temime demonstrated to everyone with knowledge of menswear a lack of understanding, it's well documented and not a secret.

Anyway, this conversation needs to go elsewhere, not in this thread.

Jany Temime is a professional costume designer and probably knows more about clothes than anyone in this forum ever will. Also, do you really think Tom Ford would agree to work on his third Bond film if his clothes were "specified" in a way he didn't agree with? It's safe to say he was satisfied with the way his suits looked in QOS and SF.

I thought the suit was ok. Maybe a bit tight, but nothing to cry about.

I think the biggest problem was, that Bond was wearing suits during the wrong moments in Skyfall. The problem was not too tight suits.

Just recall the action sequences. In the past films Bond was simply wearing total black jumpsuits during action sequences (TLD, AVTAK, TB, GE) or simply more casual attire. If one thinks a slim-fit suit looks perfect during action sequences, then one is very wrong here.

Suits ARE not made for action sequences. Off course they suddenly look...too tight when he is fighting. On the other hand, I found Bond's suits very flattering during easy-going scenes in SF, like the briefing in M's office, the Macau casino scene, the introduction of Silva to M, and the final sequence when Mallory is the new M.

We don't know when the PTS of SF takes places, probably Bond did not have time to put on a casual suit, for all we know he might have gone off the plane and through customs minutes ago.

    Not even close.

You didn't like the way Bond's suits looked in Skyfall. Fine, everybody can have an opinion. On the other hand saying that professional costume designer Jany Temime and world famous fashion designer Tom Ford know less about suits than you do is just pathetic.

    Indeed.

It's a Bond film. Bond gets away with wearing suits in action sequences from day one because its part of the fantasy package the movies present. This is not Bourne or Die Hard. Bond is the British gentleman saving the world and kicking butt and looking impeccably suave while doing so. The more Bond is in a suit the better.

Please cite where I said that I know more than Tom Ford about suits. Thanks.

And once more, this isn't the proper place to discuss this.

Well, have you seen previous Bond films? During a lot of action sequences Bond was not wearing a suit. Take the foot chase from "Casino Royale" for instance.

By the way....it's snowing incredibly hard in Altaussee right now. Reminds me of the snow storm in OHMSS. But won't this affect filming tomorrow? I thought they need sun for the romantic sequences in Altaussee.

"The Skyfall suits were awful. They weren't "close fit", they were way too small and produced all kinds of unsightly pull creases. It's not anybody out of shape whinging about tradition or anything else. They simply didn't fit."

    You're welcome.

He's giving his opinion on the cut of the suit. He doesn't state he knows more about tailoring than Tom Ford. Do you know more than Mendes about directing? or B+M about producing? No. Doesn't stop you critiquing the films.

So? The opening chases of the subsequent movies to CR have Bond wearing a suit. Have YOU seen previous Bond films? He's done more action wearing a suit than he has wearing anything else.

@RC7 Stating that the suits did not fit is more than just an opinion and it's simply an untrue statement. The suits did fit.

Correct. Along with the fact that Ford was just making what EON ordered.

In his over-exuberance to make a point it seems Pancho neglected reading comprehension or just decided to use a strawman.

In your opinion. I thought they looked ill-fitting at points. Depends on what cut you care for. Anyway, like others have said, this should probably be in another thread.

I think that the padding Craig wore under the suits in Skyfall during the action sequences had something to do with the illusion that the suits did not fit.

I will create a thread for Bond's wardrobe in SPECTRE, so we'll have a place to discuss it.

For the second time: do you really think Tom Ford would keep working with EON if he didn't like the way his suits looked in these films? It's safe to say he believes his suits fit Daniel perfectly in QOS and SF.

Also, you stating that "Ford was just making what EON ordered" proves again that you have no idea what you are talking about.

"Romantic sequences"? What (source) makes you conclude that they are there to shot romantic scenes? With all the fuzz it could as well be a full blown action setpiece.
