That Bond and Oberhauser are indeed foster brothers?

I really hope they're just some fan sh*t theories, because they're one worse than the other.

Maybe a better protest would be to refuse to leave.

Chain myself to Lee Smith at the premiere, swallow the key and refuse to take a dump until he re-edits the movie.

This is fine for me. In fact it's a brilliant idea to incorporate Oberhauser's son as a villain in a Bond film. We know from Fleming that Bond and Hannes Oberhauser had a close relationship, therefore, it's an interesting angle to incorporate this idea into a film. By giving Oberhauser a son and making him the chief adversary to 007 you can mine Bond's past and dig into his childhood. It's also a great way to harken back to Fleming.

HOWEVER, I don't think it makes any sense to say that Oberhauser is Blofeld. It's waaaaay too soap-opera-y/Austin Powers-ish. It does not make any sense that both Bond and Oberhauser would meet as children with one growing up to become a master-spy and the other the leader of a global terrorist network and each others archenemy. It would be so contrived. Now I would totally understand if Oberhauser is afflicted to SPECTRE in someway but not him actually being Blofeld.

Oberhauser being a vengeful man works well in it's own regard you don't need to overcomplicate it by involving SPECTRE and Blofeld.

Aside from the childhood comment, The one thing that I think is great about this video is Mendes's comments at the end. He mentions that Bond is contemplating whether to continue on the path he has chosen. This to me seems like a very Fleming-esque idea. Throughout the books Bond always seems to regret his life choices and is permanently melancholic about living the life of a 'spy'. Fleming's Bond longs to leave MI6 behind and live a normal life but knows it's impossible for him to do so. It's a big reason why he drinks so much in the books.

I have utter faith in Mendes and the fact he came back (something no Bond director has done consecutively for nearly 30 years) for me that is a statement of intent that he knows what he wants.

    Yeah, I guess that
it's a coincidence of unbelievable proportions, if the head of the biggest criminal organization in the world is the foster brother of the MI6 agent trying to take it down.
Let's hope they don't take this route.

Adolescence and/or family are themes that appear in nearly every movie directed by Sam Mendes: American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road, Away We Go, Skyfall and now Spectre. So I am not surprised that one of the main reasons he decided to come back was that he was allowed to further explore Bond's early years.

the film's brand new MI6 headquarters
*sigh* Why on Earth does every single Bond movie in the Daniel Craig era have brand new MI6 headquarters?
Do the new images from the video blog make you feel any better about the situation? They are in the same HQ/Office from the end of Skyfall.

Yes, absolutely. I love seeing that Mallory has the same office in Spectre. Still, the Empire article mentions "the film's brand new MI6 headquarters"...

It's the same office we see at the end of SF which is in Whitehall, we see Bond on the roof. They've obviously moved into their new HQ at this point, but it'll be flagged up more explicitly in SP.

Mendes is indeed the right director. I like his motivation to tell a good story first

It's my impression -as fleeting as it could be from such short footage- that in his first shot, Fiennes seems to channel a bit of Bernard Lee :))))

He looks like the position had a toll on him.

This has been said, but Mendes would never come back to just make "Skyfall 2". While I still love Skyfall, this is great news. I still feel like QOS tried to be more "Casino Royale 2" in many ways. Same with Moonraker being "The Spy Who Loved Me 2". Can't wait to see the end product

one would make me walk out of the cinema.
    Really? What could that be?
Joining the dots suggests that there will be some mention of Bond parents' deaths. The literal interpretation I have read is that ESB turns out to have killed Bond's parents. That's the theory that would make me walk out. My theory is that ESB adopts the pseudonym 'Oberhauser' as a ruse to ensnare Bond or at least to toy with him psychologically. That way we the audience and Bond are drawn into believing the revelation, but in reality it's a falsification used by Blofeld to essentially fuck with Bond. I think Bond will call his bluff at the end. At least I pray something like that happens. The literal interpretation is far too soap opera.

    Your theory is interesting.

    Not too shabby

*sigh* Why on Earth does every single Bond movie in the Daniel Craig era have brand new MI6 headquarters?

Well, it's only plain logical as:
    A) The end of "SKYFALL" saw a new less high-tec, more scaled down office for "M" and Miss Moneypenny (Hell, it resembles even the good-ol Bernard Lee office). So you should logically assume that MI-6 is back at Whitehall. Somewhere around here:
    Octopussy+Mi6.jpg
    B) Don't forget that MI-6 at Vauxhall Cross got blown up. Perhaps therefore the short boat sequence on the River Thames will evoke some dialogue like this: "Tanner? What's currently happening to our previous offices at Vauxhall Cross. Silva should have done a better job at destroying it....."?
    C) From a business-operational point of view, MI-6 has been f*cked up tremendously by "M"s predecessor (played by Dame Judi Dench). Just take into account the insane high amount of traveling costs Judi Dench' "M" used, and how under her management MI-6 got severely compromised (similar to the PRISM-scandal with NSA). So it's back to a well-needed downscaling of MI-6, back to its core-business: Bond does the travelling, Ralph Fiennes "M" is heading MI-6 from Whitehall.

So there's absolutely no *sigh" at all for me.

Told ya everybody would like it :-).

I think we now can safely assume the return of a very loud, visually stunning, classic Binder-esque gunbarrel sequence at the very start of "SPECTRE" ;-)

I'd love a Binder-esque Gunbarrel, but what makes you think we'll get that over, say, a more chrome effect, similar to those in the Brosnan tenure or those used for Quantum or Skyfall?

The press are loving SPECTRE's filming problems. Apparently Craig suffered yet another injury whilst in Rome - he hit his head in the DB10 :)) "They'll print anything these days" =))

Jesus, what's next? "Daniel Craig yawned - hurt his jaw. Filming will surely be delayed." How desperate are these people for news stories? Speaking of which, how big a deal is SPECTRE if that kind of story makes the news?

I have never been as excited for SPECTRE as I am now. Seeing all the characters back in action is fantastic in the new vlog. I have zero doubts that this movie will become a top three amongst all viewers; critics, regular movie-goers, and Bond fans alike, myself included.
