I did but still found it ambiguous! Maybe I'll need to reread it again! :-/

The comments are telling, the poster and the girl who he was with were checking out the car, purely because it was a beautiful Aston Martin, and Daniel Craig walked up and got in - a fantastic experience for them

Yes - see that now. I imagine that would've been amazing - like seeing Bond with your own eyes whilst on his travels around London in an Aston!!

I would love to be in London today, but we have had a very busy day yesterday my wife and I, so we are chilling at home.

Everybody is aware that the MOD headquarters in TND (Bond driving into the entrance to with the DB5 to meet Roebuck and the Minister, as well as driving out in M's convoy) were set around Somerset House, right?

The St. Petersburg scene between Bond and Wade is also Somerset House. A robust location.

Ah... didn't know that - and I thought I was a GE buff. Learn something new everyday!

Indeed. I'm really pleased they didn't sanitise it. Should help give a slight variation in tone against the more majestic settings in the chase.

Hm, since they did clean some parts of the tags on the old walls so that they look nice, and installed a skate park with tags on it and around it so that it looks poor, I'm afraid it could be "old vs new" hammered once again :)

  • So does anyone know if they actually filmed anything in London today, are there any pictures of filming in Whitehall or was it a shooting for another film? Cheers

Noo :-S . Aston Martin DB5 is NOT a Marvel superhero. This can't be true......! This must be a picture from 2011, during filming of "Skyfall"!!

I am no car expert but that is definitely not a DB10 as mentioned in the description in this link :P http://flashmafia.com/spectre-filming-streets-london/

    DB5!

    Nope. From today.
I don't see the big deal. The DB5 has been featured in two movies in a row before ( 3 if you count the satellite image at the end of TWINE). Plus this will probably just be a brief cameo like TND.

We're in for a return on the DB5 it seems. Now is it the CR one or what (since the SF one was demolished)?

I don't like it. At least I found there was a bit of continuity between the use of Bond's DB5 in "Casino Royale" (Bond won it over a poker game) and "Skyfall" (it got stored, and then it was destroyed).

On the other hand, there's also a continuity issue with the DB5 appearing in "Thunderball" after it was destroyed in "Goldfinger".

Still, I was begging for another Aston Martin model, like the DB6 or the 1968 DBS! Please don't overuse the DB5 man :-(. Nah, I don't like it that the DB5 will return in "SPECTRE". But first.....I need confirmation that this is an official production picture of "SPECTRE" and not "Skyfall".

This guy says he just saw Daniel in his Aston Martin on his way to Heathrow Airport. He is probably returning to Rome after finishing filming this morning.

It's strange we haven't yet seen any pictures of the filming from the set.

Great link = great pic! Wonder if DC was actually driving as it never really got cleared up? Not much room in the rear of a Rapide so must've been sitting in the front if not driving?

I sat in the back of an Aston Martin Rapide. And I tell you. It's a frikkin' ballroom! ;-).

From What I've heard, this DB5 has a story. And a nice one, full of meanings.

I believe it can't be the Casino Royale one as that one was right handed, this is left.

Overall, I'm content the car is back, but just for a cameo. It will be interesting to see how he got his hands on yet another DB5 :P

In Goldfinger the DB5 was destroyed and came right back in Thunderball. Is it really such a big deal anymore? Craig's Bond isn't exactly known for having cars in pristine order. His DBS was destroyed in CR and it returned in QoS. Bond is either very rich and bought another DB5 or MI6 is selling off it's stock.

Well, in all honesty.... I just hoped there would be a new private car for 007. Ever since Brosnan got the role in 1994, the Aston Martin DB5 had to have a role. Not for continuity reasons off course but for reasons of "fun", like @RC7 mentioned.

GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall....and now SPECTRE. It's just a bit boring now....:-).

There is a lot of love among Bond fans, as we could notice during SF screenings. People just LOVE, when the car shows up, so why not? Bit I am worried, when even GG is against it. This car is in serious trouble ;)

Hehe, don't worry@Germanlady ;-). It's indeed true that for the sake of fun and goodwill the DB5 is back. In the end......it's just a car.

Yes, the DB5 has a cameo in Spectre. This photo is from today, there is no Judi Dench in the passengerseat.

The DB5 is just a cheap gimmick at this point. Bringing it back was a terrible idea, although a short cameo won't completely ruin the movie.

Calling something a cheap gimmick without having read the script is something of a bold statement, I think. But hey, maybe you have read the script and I´m missing something. I, for one, love the DB5 and am very glad to see it back in action.

Out of interest , why do you enjoy it's inclusion? Because you've' 'seen it before'?. To me, it's nonsense.

Because it´s quintessential Bond and it makes sense in context. That and the ppk. Bond as the Man who doesn´t change (the world changes around him) is somewhat of a good image for explaining why I like it so much. The Aston and the ppk are somewhat similar to the damn beretta from 62. Love it. Besides, as a big car enthusiast, one has to like something like that on screen. Every time I see a DB5 or an E-type, I have a geekgasm. Hope that clears it for you RC7. Cheers.
