Well, the previous three teaser posters (CR, SF and especially QOS) weren't that revealing either :-): http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/10424/from-casino-royale-to-spectre-a-quadrilogy-of-beautiful-teaser-posters#latest
Don't get me wrong....Iloveee to see a new poster tomorrow :-P. But it all feels.......soo muchhh :-P We Bond fans are completely spoiled hehe. I kind of expected this though: The marketing/publicity machine for "SPECTRE" is truly insanely big hehe.
Release the Kraken.
I wonder if we'll get a shot of Craig in the poster or just some provocative imagery, so to speak.
Yup - well you could call this the second teaser poster.
Also bodes very well for trailer on the 28th as Marketto said.
Surely sir. The first teaser poster is very important for the hype factor. it's what gets people 'in the mood' for bond. With 7 months to go, releasing it now doesn't make complete sense. by the time the film comes out people will have forgotten all about it.
No, no somethings not right here, and I have a feeling Mr Hunt has something to do with it...
It does make sense...especially with the trailer coming relatively soon after and both being up and shown in cinemas in time for Furious 7 (for which the release of the trailer is obviously targeted - trailer releases are always planned around what film you want it to debut in theaters with, and posters usually come a week or so before the trailer).
Next would be a poster a week or so before Mission Impossible, with the theatrical/main trailer debuting in theaters then...preceded by the online release and a possible first debut at SDCC (much like the Skyfall IMAX trailer).
Now the only thing left would be a third final trailer, as that's something studios almost always do now...when would that land, and with which film. Early October?
The Jurassic World teaser poster was released in October last year, the film is released this June - 8 months before. The Avengers 2 poster was also released in October last year, it's released in May this year - 7 months before. I doubt there's anything wrong.
Then explain to me why it will be beaten by Star Wars, Avengers and Hunger Games (domestically) at the box office huh...
What do you mean by that? M:I 5 and Spectre are not in direct competition since there are more than three months between their release dates.
2015 will be a massive and very competitive year for blockbusters. To keep up with the big ones it's not enough to channel the traditional marketing/publicity machine from EON Productions anymore. With that I mean it's simply not wise to wait for a teaser trailer till May, when competing Marvel franchises, Star Wars and Jurassic Park already have teaser trailers out more than one year before the actual premiere of the film.
Same with teaser posters. Usually Bond films only had only one. This year, with "Furious 7", "Star Wars", "Avengers 2", "Jurassic Park", "Mission: Impossible 5" it would certainly not hurt to drive up the interest on the internet with a 2nd teaser poster and another videoblog. And on top of that a 1st teaser trailer this month.
It's, simply put, the logical thing to do.
Is THIS the teaser poster? If not, it should be!
yea, I think EON want Mendes for more films after SPECTRE so the branding is good, like Batman/Nolan, Middle earth/Jackson.
This makes me think DC will return for a sixth film like Connery did.
Although actually I would have thought we would have had the first teaser trailer in May, debuting in cinemas with Avengers, which would drive huge audience exposure.
Theatrical releases of trailers are a lot about exposure to as wide an audience as possible. For instance Lionsgate are placing a Mockingjay Part 2 teaser this weekend with Insurgent, but it's just a 'logo reveal' for the film instead of a full teaser trailer with movie footage, because they know that Insurgent won't draw nearly as wide crowds and it isn't as much of a blockbuster as Hunger Games is, and that the audience, who are mostly book/YA genre fans that have a much higher awareness and excitement of Mockingjay than the other way round, will get hyped up when they see anything. Hence we get something like this:
(Lionsgate played this with the final Twilight in 2012)
And they save the real teaser trailer goods for the last week of April for a theatrical placement with Avengers. You get the idea.
And for the record, Star Wars trailer was released in time for a placement with Hobbit.
TL;DR doing this super early doesn't necessarily make it better, audience exposure is also very important.
Bond is much, much bigger than those other franchises (except Star Wars).
Plus, Jurassic World will disappoint: quality-and moneywise.
With two men and not one Bond girl in the background? Not impossible, but unlikely IMO.
Because those I can set as an example. Those films already have teaser trailers out.
Redrum? Murder spelled backwards?
