That was me and yes, I'm in agreement SP is shaping up to be Craig's best. Not even SF while it was in production comes close to giving me the strong vibes SP is giving me.
Imo this is following a trend that became very apparent with SF. Anyone with a passing interest in film posters (and for that matter DVD/Blu-Ray covers) will know of, or at least recognise the homogenisation of posters by genre. All rom-com posters follow the same set of rules, the same with YA, horror etc. What they've been doing with Bond is not forcing 'genre'. It's minimal, it's slick, it doesn't give the audience the excuse to pass up because 'they don't like the look of it'. After all a poster is translated as more than just an image and for a lot of people will be their point of entry. My mum will see the poster a thousand times on buses, but probably won't catch the trailer. You don't have to love it, but you can't be offended by the SF and now SP artwork. All you're effectively told is, Bond is back. No colours to add a tone to the film, no images to add context. You have to go see the movie to satisfy your curiosity. Yeah, it's not going to sit pretty alongside the classics of old, but I can see the reason for this stark approach.
It's simplicity is commendable, but I feel it lacks creativity.
Craig does look great though, instantly I thought of Moore in LALD. Also he is giving off a serious Steve McQueen vibe, which I feel was also very intentional.

agreed RC7, but it goes beyond me why they wouldn't bother with even a slightly more interesting font, without stealing focus from DC
its contemporary, confident and shows the extent to which the public hold Craig as Bond. 2 of his 3 films hold a 90%+ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and were critically adored. It will also appeal to both sexes.
Really, at this stage all you need to know about the new Bond film is that its in production, and that Craig is in it. He now owns the role moreso than anyone since Connery.
Thats a strong brand right there.
Preferred the first one. The clothes look camp on Craig IMO.
I'm not saying they should show any revealing elements, but when it comes to Bond, there are a lot of established elements that could be added (like the gun barrel in Skyfall's tease). I think that, unlike past teaser posters, the gray shades aren't contrasting enough, making it look plain, increasingly more so by the bohemian writer's outfit they chose . And lastly, the lack of any background or actual movement by Bond makes it look a bit like a fan made poster.
I dont't think it's bad, just not as good as the previous ones in the Craig era.

And like I said, it is nice to see Bond not in a suit but in operation clothes.
I think this is the angle they're going for. It's fine in my eyes, you can't really hate something containing so little to offend you, but it's not something I'd buy and hang on my wall, the same way I wouldn't buy a poster of a perfume ad, but it'll sell 'the product'. That's the world we live in now, unfortunately.
Now I am just even more glad my mates wanna go and see Furious 7 opening night!
IDK. Sony Russia tweeted out the colour one sheet version with the IMAX text. Just some inconsistency across which of the (ultimately) many versions they have with the November date, generic with just coming soon, IMAX, no IMAX...

Exactly. All good points. This is about marketing, not art. Spectre is competing against a ton of spy films, some major, opening just weeks and days in some countries before it opens. They are selling Craig as Bond. As long as he is Bond, he is their Brand, and they are going to their strength. What do the critics expect, pretty snowy mountain tops to sell Spectre.
Spectre also has had to fight off a ton of crappy press items due to the Sony leaks, with the press using the leaks to bash the script, the locations, the budget, name it. Now we're in the middle of the Mexico "scandal," as if no other films have had to deal with governments and their demands to get budget breaks. The Sony leaks have been a killer. The film better be good, because the press will be out for blood and will use and twist the leaks for everything they can drain from them.
