I do. Infact, I hope he'll do two more after SPECTRE.
My reasoning for being ok with Craig leaving isn't because of just "so be it" - it's because, given SPECTRE is meant to be a conclusion of sorts to the era like the interview says, having Craig for more could ruin the integrity of what these 4 movies have tried to achieve.
Look at the end of QOS. It was basically the conclusion of a two-parter. And it had a very closed ending.....like most Bond films. So with your arguments you could have said that Daniel Craig should have quit the job after QOS.
Fact is, you can always write a new film that ties in with its predecessor. SF has proven that. So why can't Bond 25 do the same??
Since the franchise is famous for its actors and a director saying they would not return, to me it simply means "wait and see". I am hopeful that in a year or so and seeing how SP performs his attitude will be more clear. He still may decide no. But only after he's had a bit more time to think about it.
The difference is that, and I don't know whether you can tell from the interview or the trailers or not because I certainly can - it doesn't just link back to Skyfall, it brings the 3 previous Craig films full circle, all the way back to Casino Royale, and it provides a resolution to that entire story that underpins Craig's run. If SP wasn't as intricately linked and set up to be a conclusion to the previous 3 films like TDKR was a conclusion to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, then it'd be fine.
The links and overall continuity of the Craig films are much more tightly woven than the classic Bonds, and as I've said before, I'm more than welcome for the Craig run to be for Bond what The Dark Knight trilogy was for Batman - a self-contained 4-film story.
Another rare case of.....agreeing with @RC7 ;-)
Couple of interesting things:
1. only the PTS in Mexico was shot with spherical lenses as opposed to anamorphic - and hence, if Mendes still goes ahead with this, it will be the only sequence that will open up to IMAX's 1.9:1 aspect ratio (he says they won't though). Also IMAX cameras probably weren't used because none of the UK film labs can process 70mm IMAX footage.
2. There will be a final trailer this month (September).

To me it looks like the Mexico PTS is using anamorphic lenses. I have a few screen grabs.
Or perhaps he's referring to a part of the sequence?
Well I think you can tell from the opening shot of the trailer that it's using spherical...and comparing shots of the Mexico sequence to the rest of the film definitely looks like Mexico is not anamorphic.
"“I don’t know,” he says. He really doesn’t know? “I really don’t know. Honestly. I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.”
Would he at least like to do another one? “At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”"
I admit that it now reads a lot clearer to my mind that he's not saying no and that the idea of shooting another Bond movie right now isn't a favourable prospect, afterall he'd just finished downloading filming a 7 month production. I get it but still, I'm not going to flip out if he doesn't return. Like I said, I really want him to do a 5th and feel that he will but if he doesn't, adios to him.
The stuff I read indicated that they are shooting with both digital and 35mm, and any IMAX equipment being used for shooting is for their digital camera, not a film one, so processing is not an issue. I think I remember Alexa 65 being mentioned for this, so maybe somebody saw '65' and jumped to an incorrect Nolanesque conclusion.
As that IMDB guy says - the Alexa 65 (there IS an IMAX version of the Alexa 65 but it's not heing used here - it will be used in Captain America Civil War and Avengers Infinity War) digital shooting is just for some of the low light night-set London exteriors. Rest is shot on 35mm. No IMAX equipment is being used for this.
However per the Sony leaks the original intention was to shoot 3 sequences with 70mm IMAX cameras, which Mendes decided to back out of presumably due to lack of UK 70mm IMAX processing labs. They then decided to shoot these on 35mm but with spherical instead and in the end, they only shot the opening sequence that way. The Alexa doesn't come into this really.
And a new still from the movie.
No doubt, absolutely. Hell, I won't be surprised if they stream the RAH red carpet and film intro from Mendes and co to the UK opening night shows. Maybe that's the "special" thing Odeon are doing with their opening night shows.
Loving Craig's look in the Omega ad, but still think that strap is wrong with a suit personally.
The still reminds me so much of North by Northwest for some reason...could be Seydoux' top evoking Marie Saint
I'm still a bit sad by the revealing Esquire article :-(. I need Daniel Craig. And I can not envision a different actor for the role right now. Look, I really understand why EON made Brosnan to quit the role after DAD. But this is the other way around. Let's hope Barbara and Michael tie Daniel to a chair and torture him with a rope if he threatens to leave after "SPECTRE" ;-).
Anyway @Marketto007, I really love the new production still. It's nice to see some "Quantum Of Solace"-references as well. As Sam Mendes already said, it combines the 'hot' with the 'cold' from a cinematographical point of view. And here I am reminded of Camille and 007 walking through the Atacama Desert in Chile :-).

I, again, fully agree with you. IMO this has nothing to do with racism. This has everything to do with the current exponentially growing assertiveness of the social-media-generation. Even here in The Netherlands our biggest tradition is suddenly being seriously questioned....that of "Sinterklaas" (the official predecessor to Santa Clause). Because Black Piet is a clear sign of racism. Well, no one is wondering why Sinterklaas wasn't questioned during the 1930's when in the deep south of the USA living people were hanged on trees due to their skin color. Well, Sinterklaas isn't doing that as of 2015 no? Nor is Idris Elba being threatened by the KuKluxKlan.
Again, in this social-media-era we have become to assertive at times. On Facebook we all act like little dictators with no trace of empathy or nuance. We really loose perspective on these things. We don't ask ourselves anymore what's the difference between the real deadly consequences of racism and our own mental loss of resilience when we're being bullied. I hope....the future brings back at least a tiny bit of social cohesion...
Why is Craig taking heat RE: Elba?
Honestly, people really should think and then think again before commenting on matters, especially when trying to promote a product.
Horowitz calling Elba, too Street was a poor choice of words. Was he being casually racist? I don't know but he did follow up his comment by suggesting Adrian Lester as Bond who btw is a black actor. Furthermore, David Oyelowo is voicing Bond for the audio version of his book.
I don't know what Horowitz was thinking when he knows such comments are going to have people riled up. People jumped all over Roger Moore for what he said about Elba and iirc it wasn't anywhere near as stirring as what Horowitz said. The age of social media is brutal. Serious thought needs to be applied unless Horowitz can stand by what he said and make everyone else look crazy for overreacting.
