I also saw the music video to Sam Smith's "Writing's On The Wall". And while the song left 'us' with mixed feelings -it's certainly a 'grower'- the videoclip is absolutely incredibly good! It really focuses on the drama in "SPECTRE". And it WORKS! My god, I really felt touched by both Monica Bellucci's and Lea Séydoux's performances. A bruised Lucia Sciarra, who can barely walk with her whiskey. That little playfulness Madeleine Swann has towards 007 with that curtain in between is just....it really puts a smile on my face :-D! It's so incredible.

And then there's -again- Hoyte's cinematography. Absolutely breathtaking. You can...feel this energy from both cast and crew, basically screaming to all of us: "We. Made. The. Best. Bond. Film!" And it's not a cliché line anymore...My God, and it feels like 20 years until "SPECTRE" premieres! This is NOT going to be "SkyFall Part 2". This is going to be "SPECTRE"! Eat your heart out you wanna-be-Bond-franchises "Mission: Impossible", "Kingsman" and "Furious 7" :-)!

I agree with you 100% @Gustav but with Bond/SP, this is a film that doesn't need to boast to its alleged "competition". The film will speak for itself, audiences and critics will lap it up like spoonfuls of sugar and the dignity of victory and class shown in its superiority will be there for all to see.

Agreed as well. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a Bond film.

Me too. I have to say that WOTW is growing on me. Bond and Swann in the bedroom reminds me of a similar scene featured in Apocalypse Now Redux...

The footage makes Spectre look great and I have high hopes for it but didn't a lot of you guys think SKYFALL was the best? I on the other hand have been hoping that Spectre would make up for SKYFALL's serious short comings and it looks like they have succeeded so far.

    I didn't like Skyfall either ,
and this footage from the music looks very promising

Skyfall is a good film but it was/is by no means the best. It's not even Craig's best let alone the best in the series as some people will have you believe. Interestingly enough and I'm in the extreme minority here but I think SF may actually be my least favourite of Craig's released three Bond movies. Still undecided if I prefer QoS over it.

I also found Skyfall an underwhelming Bond film. But I agree, Spectre looks like its going to be incredible! The reviews for Skyfall were astonishing. "Best Bond Ever"! I don't think so, and I was a little worried when Mendes was announced that he was at the helm again. but I put Skyfall down as a learning experience for him, and he's going to present us with a classic Bond movie this time

I also had reservations about Mendes but the trailers DO look promising.

I remember before SF was released in fact I think it was at the auditorium inside the RAH for the premiere where Mendes talked a little bit before the film started and he mentioned that there were things he wished he could have changed but regardless, him making SP was always going to be a very different film from SF as he had no interest in making a SF2. With SF being Mendes' first Bond movie and this type of movie being extremely different to his usual output, his second Bond movie was always something to get excited about. Now, this us definitely the case but here's really hoping SP actually delivers.

SF was a huge disappointment with its many very stupid moments.

But when I re-watched it a month or so ago I realised the sum of all parts are better than the parts.
I moved it from No 13 to 7 in my ranking. But it may well go down again when I re-watch it the next time, that movie is very uneven.

    Same,
from what I've seen so far , I don't think it'll be on the level of Quantum Of Solace or Casino Royale for me but I am sure I won't come back disappointed like how I felt with Skyfall .
The shot in the music video where he cocks his gun and stands next to lea is just amazing

    Haha Very True ,
I think Craig looks his best in all 4 movies when has that "Don't mess with me" look on his face

I've always been puzzled by and curious of this ranking business. Do you all do it? Is it a male thing or women do it, too? Why do you do it? Do people do it with many other things besides Bond movies or other things Bond (- I've seen it done at least with at least other movies)? I've never done it, it seems sort of exotic and alien to me, I don't understand why people do it, what they get from it. I assume it must be worthwhile and interesting to those who do it since they even think about doing it. It seems very common here, people talk about ranking this and that all the time. Anyone care to comment to a confused observer? :)

I have tried and never succeeded to rank the Bonds, so I gave up a few years ago. Mainly because my feelings for the films go up and down on a consistent basis. I sort of admire anyone who has clinical views and can put 23 films in an order of preference.

And @NicNac, but at least you tried, so you must have felt the need to do it for some reason, which is what really confuses me about people doing it. I agree it's sort of admirable people even can, but why do they even want to... Do you rank other movies or things?

I'm truly perplexed by some of the comments surrounding the film's photography. Hoyte's work here is truly stunning and rather reminiscent of the great Gordon Willis. I love the whiskey-hued tone on display and, in this regard, I really feel that Spectre is such a grand step forward for the franchise, and that's saying something following Deakins's work on SF.

    Let's start with Mexico:

Those shots posted on the board which desaturate the colour as beyond bland. They are truly inspiring and rather pedestrian. There is something exotic about the Mexico photography, just from the trailers I can sense the dusty and polluted landscape on display. Comments suggesting that the filmmakers are retreating and attempting to follow trends are clearly not in the know.

Hoyte and Mendes's compositions brilliant. Look at this shot; you have an instant iconic image of Bond loading his gun, however as the camera pans out we reveal Madeleine in frame. It's these small and neat touches which really elevate a movie.

It's worth noting that Mendes has made a real attempt to re-establish the iconography of Bond. In doing so I think he has recaptured the essence of what made Bond cool and sexy back in the Connery era. Mendes's movies really try and sell Bond; often placing Daniel Craig in the centre of the frame looking like a boss. I feel this totally lapsed in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Craig and Mendes have made Bond cool again.

Hmmm...one reason may be that men like to rationalise and categorise things and see them black on white on paper (or the excel-sheet :)) ).

For me lists always had something attractive. I have done Top 10s on a weekly basis for my favourite songs since my teenage years (and stopped at 30) and I even still have them all, it's like a diary of sorts. I do have a Top 30 for every year, I still do it.

I have an excel-sheet like a calendar where I have entered each and every single episode of any TV Show I've ever seen and movies too. It is also like a diary really.
I've started this in 2000 and never stopped...

I can tell you what I have watched on TV (or at the cinema) for any day you would like to know :P

Here is a list for you:

My favourite hobbies in life in alphabetical order, you can have a guess which is where in my ranking.

    - Football (Soccer), (active player)
    - Movies (watching, collecting) Batman, Bond, Star Trek are my favourites.
    - Music (listening, collecting)
    - Parachuting (I'm a parascout actually)
    - S E X
    - Travelling
    - TV Shows (watching, some collecting)

Wow. Okay, I guess that's one way keeping a diary, sort of, anyway (I've never kept a diary, either), and a way to organize some aspects of life. It's fascinating the things people do. I don't even do shopping lists. (Unless I'm doing something for which I need to get many ingredients I think I might not remember otherwise... so very, very rarely indeed.)
