The gunbarrel's only been messed up for two films now. In Casino Royale, it was a really cool twist on the concept, and even in Skyfall, Sam Mendes said he wanted to put it at the beginning. If it's where it's supposed to be, I'll accept a substandard design and too-fast pace.
But to comment on where Skyfall left off the film does end with
DN, FRWL, TB, YOLT and OHMSS all stand on their own, yet they all have the same villainous organozation and, in four of them, the same villain. Having a recurring adversary is something that is fairly common in current franchise. Magneto showed up more than once in X-Men movies, the League of Shadows is featured twice (with different leaders, but still) in the Batman trilogy, Moriarty is in the background of the first Holmes movie and becomes the main villain in the second, etc.
I agree. I doubt whether Mendes or Logan or Craig have any desire to return to that particular dead end. I actually rather like QoS but am not bothered about finding out more about Quantum.
I think that's partly to do with Mr Deakins. He doesn't like filming in natural light.
Oh I have no doubt his ego was far beyond the stratosphere well before SF was even a gleam in his eye. He's a big-name movie director, after all.
Like Shanghai?
Or Macau? ;-)
And though the Scottish highlands were indeed grey, they looked fantastic thanks to Roger Deakins.
Yes and the Shanghai shots were second unit. DC never set foot in China. The shots outside the office block where he follows Patrice were actually shot outside Broadgate Tower in the City of London: http://www.broadgatetower.com/#/film/
Q: Can you talk about the new fighting style?
Evans: I remember when I first met with the Russos… Has anyone played the Captain America video game? I love it. And I don't like video games. But I loved it because I liked the way Cap moves. He moves so well and beats ass. This is how he should be moving. He doesn't just have speed and power. He's been training. He's got the frame of mind to absorb this information, so you can imagine with his training and abilities, the guy should really be dangerous and we should show this. It's not just taking Jason Bourne, if Bourne can do it, Cap should be flying through these things. We're turning up his power and his speed, so the fights are a bit more grisly.
He said that "I hope! I would really like him to get out, i've laid some hints about that. Although i don't know what's going to happen, i hope to hear something about the new film soon. But i think he will be out from the office, at least a bit."
And it's not like the above quote gives much more than a vague wish. "I hope", "I don't know", "I think". People get so worked up on so little.
Agreed. If he was the new Bernard Lee, I'd be happy with that.
