When I was young I had GF at #1 - to paraphrase what TheWizard said, it was the epitome of "Bond films" and really set the tone for a long time. Then as I got older I realized that while it was my favourite it wasn't the "best" - I had to concede that FRWL was. Then I got even older and my tastes evolved, and new films came out as well.
My top three - a blend of "best" and "favourite" have for a few years now been CR, then FRWL, then OHMSS. SF has thrown me for a loop and I'm not sure where to place it. After seeing it for the second time yesterday I'd say it's top 5, but...where? To me it's arguably the best made Bond film but there's more to choosing where to rank it than that (I also enjoyed it much more and found it a more fun film the second time I saw it as well).
I find choosing my top three and bottom three fairly easy, but everything inbetween...there are so many films and such fine lines of quality difference between them sometimes...
