Bond between the films

So, between all the films. Do you think that it's supposed to mean that Bond actually does different sort's of missions? Like doing some classical spy-work and more of down-toned missions. In the books it is described that Bond just does a couple of missions per year and most of his worktime he is just doing paperwork. So do you think that is the case even for the film-Bond?

I personally thinks that is the case, but what do you think? That it is meant that he is only doing the film missions in some kind of way?

Well that depends which Bond. Dalton and Craig maybe are the same as book Bond, plenty of paperwork, etc. Also we're shown in TLD that he has to do the odd training exercise, so with Dalton I definetly don't think it's one mission after the next.

If we're talking about the others, I'd say most of the time they jet around from one big mission to the next with little breaks inbetween (like when Bond is with Trench in FRWL and DN).

Look at TSWLM, after getting laid and out skiing (and BASE jumping) some russians, Bond jets straight off to investigate the microfilm. It's non stop for him there.

I guess that Bond train his abilities between one mission and other.

I would love to see this explored in the films, like it is in the Moonraker novel. Just briefly show Bond getting the piles of paperwork done (mulling through mission files on countries and situations broiling across the globe) and then maybe heading down to bet on who can shoot best with another agent on the range.

I think he does paperwork and in his spare times carries on affairs with married women. Like OBrady, I would like to see it explored too.

So what kind off missions do you think he does? Missions like in the films or more tones down missions?
  • He might do the odd meet and greet, recover confidential documents, meet up with contacts and even do the odd government sanctioned hit - he had a license to kill afterall!

I would look to the books where he does a mixture of dull paperwork / admin (eg FRWL), training and rest (eg TB), getting married (OHMSS) and mini-missions (short stories)

I would love to see a scheme being uncoveredlike in the novel Goldfinger: Bond doing paperwork discovers something fishy about him.
