For me the greatest loss of the old site's material was the bibliography thread so I've made a start at rebuilding it, but I've only listed the books I actually own and as it stands is no way a comprehensive list yet! Please feel free to add any books I may have missed to the list. Over time I hope to reorganise it better and add more categories, but once again any input from members is very welcome.

Bloody hell Saunders that's an extensive and rather impressive collection! Here's my rather scant bibliography:

That's a great display Gaz1961 (I covert your collection of 007 fan club magazines), I really wish I was computer literate enough to be able to post pictures of my collection up, I've just about worked out how to use the wife's digital camera so I'm slowly getting there. It's taken me just over 11 years to build up my collection from scratch and I must admit I'm rather proud of it. Mind you, because I've focused my attention solely on collecting Bond related books I have sadly neglected other areas of Bond merchandise and have very little else in my personal Bond archive, still gives me something to focus the next 11 years on! :)

Once again, Roger Moore's diary of the filming of Live and Let Die is missing.

Here are a few foreign (ie not in english) books I have:

Die James Bond Filme, by Michael Scheingraber (bought during my tour of duty in Trier, Germany, in 1981. Covers all the official movies until FYEO).

James Bond 007 "Licence de Tuer", by Jean Marc Paland and Jean Marc Pinson (covers every movie until TLD)

Bon Appétit, Mr. Bond, by Claire Dixsaut and Vincent Chenille (a study of food in the world of James Bond, both in books and movies. Full of mistakes, but highly entertaining).

It wasn't forgotten Gerard I'd listed Roger Moore's diary 'Roger Moore As James Bond' under the biography section (12th one down) as it was a personal account of filming rather than a general reference book, as for the others yes they should go on the list (maybe under a foreign language section).

It's in my collection too:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gaz1961/5584613713/in/set-72157626418868884.

Saunders, I've been collecting on and off for 40 years, but almost exclusively books. My collecting suffered a serious blow about 7 or 8 years ago when a whole heap of Bond books (and others) disappeared from my flat following a burglary. Among these was a first edition Moonraker that cost me about ten bob, and (nearly) mint copies of YOLT, TMWTGG and JB: A Celebration. Slowly building my collection up again, but you know the original 50s hardbacks are like gold dust now.

Quoting Gaz1961: following a burglary
The burglar took Bond memorabilia? It was someone who understood the value then. Man, I hate it when they do that! They can take some money for all I care but 'things' need to be left alone. Pierce the wallet, not the heart. Sorry to hear that, Gaz!

Really sorry to hear that Gaz1961, my biggest fear is that my collection getting either stolen or destroyed, I've never owned any of the Fleming original 50's hardback editions and with the prices they are now I can't see me ever getting them now. As far as rebuilding your collection goes I purchased about 60% of mine (including JB: A Celebration) through Amazon marketplace, you can find some real bargains with a little bit of trawling and lots of patience.

Cheers Saunders, that's what I plan to do once I get round to buying a PayPal card... only trouble is I'm already in trouble with Her Indoors for filling the house up with my dusty old second-hand books. & Darth: burglars are scum, the lowest of the low, they violate your life when they infiltrate your sanctuary, so whatever they took would pierce the heart.

I sympathise, I'm always in trouble with Her Indoors because she hates my 'Bond Archive' and seems to be under the illusion that I'm in some way slightly obsessed with everything James Bond related...they do get some funny ideas into their heads these women! 8-|

Tell me about it... you can't even discuss the finer points of Barry vs Arnold with them! Having said that mine is quite understanding & tolerant, sometimes she even lets me watch my Bond DVDs (as long as Pierce is in them).

My wife's the same, she's happy to watch Connery, Brosnan or Craig films but if I try putting on a Lazenby, Moore or Dalton she just sits there constantly producing elongated exasperated sighs.

Found another little addition for the bibliography, in the notes at the back of the hardback addition of 'Devil May Care' it mentions a published collection of literary pastiches by Sebastion Faulks including one on Ian Fleming. Being the completest I am I had to get it and it's arrived today, and while the Ian Fleming one involving James Bond visiting a supermarket is very short at just one and a half pages it is very funny and spot on for mimicking the 007 authors style. Also among the many other big literary names lampooned is Bond continuation novelist Kingsley Amis.
Maybe not an essential Bond buy, but if anyone's interested it's called 'Pistache' and retails for £6.99 from Arrow publishers.

Hmm. Not keen on Faulks at all but I might see if they've got it in the library. I'm not as much of a completist as you it seems.

The Omnibus editions, Volume 001 and 002 may want to be added to the opening post as they too are separate books.

Regarding the MP Diaries. The author is actually Samantha Weinberg. Kate Westbrook is a character (MP's neice). The stories are told from her pov, much like Watson in Conan Doyle's Holmes books. It is confusing, as Westbrook's name is prominently displaced on the covers, giving the impression that she is the author.
The series could be described as The Moneypenny Diaries as told by Kate Westbrook. A fictional work written by Samantha Weinberg.

Also the two MPD short stories could be added under short stories (see wiki summaries below).

"For Your Eyes Only, James" (2006 short story): Published in the November issue of Tatler, the short story tells the tale of a weekend shared between Bond and Moneypenny at Royale-les-Eaux (see Casino Royale) in 1956.
Moneypenny's First Date With Bond" (2006 short story): Published in the November 11, 2006 issue of The Spectator, the short story tells the tale of Moneypenny's and James Bond's first meeting.

==I like that you have created a separate category for short stories that were not origially published as part of a larger Bond work such as FYEO, OP or even YB Danger Society. With that in mind, I'd suggest including the two MP shorts and Fleming's, "007 in New York," in the short story category.

Great biblo there Saunders. Nice to see you were able to put the thing back together.
I'll go through my companion books and see if I have anything to add there. You seem to have the literary well covered.

Two new additions I've just picked up:

The true adventures of the world's greatest stuntman' by Vic Armstrong.

and

'James Blond, Stockport is too much' a parody by Terry Ravenscroft, haven't read it yet but considering the cover depicts a silhouette man urinating and one of the villains name is a unsubtle vulgar cross between Blofeld and OddJob I'm not expecting much. Though it's interesting to note that out of the handful of parody's written two have the town 'Stockport' in the title!

Saunders, we're missing Property of a Lady in the Octopussy collection. Also, "007 in New York" as I'm sure you know was originally published in Fleming's Thrilling Cities.
I'm not sure what it's connection with OP is if anything unless it was included in later OP editions, with the 3 main stories.
It was though included in the Quantum of Solace collection, Fleming's short story collection released co-incident with the release of the film - a volume which included all 8 of the Fleming shorts.

===to the reference books, I can add from my own collection.
The Films of Roger Moore by John Williams, 1978 Greenhaven Press, St. Paul, Minnesota
The Films of Sean Connery by Emma Andrews, 1978 Greenhaven Press, St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Andrews book might be an earlier edition of the Andrews', Connery book you have listed or maybe she wrote two different books about Connery.
==After doing some digging on the web, Andrews definitely has the two titles published ie "The Films of Sean Connery" and "Heroes of the Movies: Sean Connery" and with distinctly different covers. Could very well be two different books then.

Thanks timmer, don't no how I could of forgot Property of a Lady, 007 in New York was indeed included with the 2002 editions of OP, though I have now amended the list to show all three publications.
Never heard of the John Williams book on Roger Moore, is it any good? Mind you, regardless of the quality the completest in me will be seeking out a copy immediately.
I think your right that Emma Andrews has published two books on Sean Connery as 'Heroes of the Movies' publication is dated 1982, is her 'The Films of Sean Connery' any good? 'Heroes of the Movies' is just dreadful with poor black and white photos repeatedly incorrectly captioned.
Anyway thanks that was some really great input from you, let me know if you dig out any more books or if find some more of my 'clerical errors'.

The Films of Sean and The Films of Roger Moore are both cheap little hardbacks published by that Greenhaven Press in St. Paul Minnesota. They have the same cover templates and are probably part of a broader, "Films of". The two editions I have are both 1978 editions so they are not terribly comprehensive. The Rog book leaves off with TSWLM, while the Sean book concludes with A Bridge Too Far.
They are cute little collectables. I'm not sure where I picked them up. Probably bought them together in some bookstore discount bin. Can't say I've actually read either. I simply flipped through them. There are lots of black and white photos but really not much text. 46 pages each and again lots of photo filler.
They are really just cute little reference books, with detailed filmographies at the back.
Your list is so comprehensive, that these two obscure little finds are the only things I could add.

From memory I think you'll find that there are (at least, as I have) three Emma Andrews books and the second two are just (more or less) updates of the first.

Great list, Saunders! - asking a question now that may have been answered but I didn't see it at quick glance: Is your list in order? I want to know the order of the books (I want to re-read them in order); Fleming only, please.

I hope no one minds if I put my website link in this thread. I've been looking for a more appropriate thread but can't see one. If this is the wrong place please let me know.

Basically I've been doing a lot of work on my Ian Fleming/James Bond web page over the last few weeks. It started in it's original form back around 1999 and a few years ago I gave it a redesign. Now I've moved the content over to wordpress with the aim of updating it more often.

You can find it at ianfleming.monobrowze.co.uk, although I've also bought the domain flemingsbond.co.uk; and it should hopefully work.

Basicaly it's a look at the various UK paperback editions of the books, concentrating on the 1960s and 1970s. It's by no means complete and I know there are other sites out there that do the same job and do it better. But I'm fond of my Fleming site so I keep it going.

Any feedback, suggestions or requests will be appreciated.

You're more than welcome to use this thread for your website link @Chevron, what a really great website you've created. I'd love to see some of the hardback designs incorporated into it, especially the rare Christopher Wood hardback editions, and maybe expand it to include foreign editions, as some of their cover artwork is interesting to say the least!
Are you aware of the book 'Bond Bound' by Ian Fleming publications? It had a very small print run and was written for the Fleming estate to commemorate Ian Fleming's centenary. It's full of great colour prints of many of the covers from all over the world, and definatley worth a look.
Anyway keep up the great work!
