I think that is the plan, RJ said he'd love to do one every few years with Craig and a new cast, a Poirot for the 21st century essentially.
I would very much love if a sequel to Knives Out becomes the long-awaited opportunity to have 2 Bond's appearing together. Either Brosnan or Dalton (or both?), but it would really be exciting to see.
In any case I'd really enjoy a sequel. Knives Out was one of the most entertaining films this year.
It happened for SF, as well. Oscar-winning director + Oscar-winning villain = some fans going to the theater looking for reasons to hate it. And we see the lingering effects on these boards, 7 years later.
Knives Out is a decent movie which I enjoyed just as I enjoy similar stuff Lik Agatha Christie movies, I do not care so much who the director is only if the movie is decent.
I generally do not go to the movies for a director unless it is Spielberg of Ridley Scott, my wife's favorite is Tarantino so I get to see those too.
Fanboys are stupid be it the Star Wars lot, the 007 lot of Star Trek lot, I decide for my self what I enjoy and if it is done in the proper way.
I am no fan of the Mendes 007 movie but that movie about the First World War looks like something I might enjoy. But that has to do with the subject imho.
I was having a casual watch of Bullitt as I channel hopped t'other night and I was struck, really amazed by the likeness between Steve McQueen and DC himself. I don't just mean a facial resemblance, although there is one, but it was more the physical mannerisms, line delivery, they even share the same gait in their walks.
Given how well it's done, it's looking on track to be his most successful non-Bond film as a leading actor. COWBOYS & ALIENS and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO both cracked the $100 million in 2011, but they were much more expensive productions.
I wouldn't be surprised if at some point this year it will be announced that another Benoit Blanc mystery has been green lit.
To be honest RJ is better doing projects where he is wanted and not trying to satisfy fanatic Star Wars fan boys.
I don't mind him making more but would prefer he puts his efforts to use giving us BB mysteries every couple of years instead.
This type of story telling was ripe for being revived and Johnson has done it with a aplomb, I absolutely loved Knives Out.
Daniel has the potential to set himself up for the next phase of his acting career, while the most significant role of his life is coming to an end, he can get ready for returning to a new role fairly regularly.
This way he can do a biggish mainstream franchise and also make smaller films and do stage work if he chooses.
He has the potential to be the most successful actor who has ever played the role now. Before KO came along I had my doubts.
Although he has shown now he can take on another role and while never get completely away from the shadow of Bond like any of the other previous actors in the role.
To go from possibly the most significant film character of all time to then find another role that he becomes famous for in its own right, must be a first for any actor who has been assigned the number 007.
The future could be very bright for Daniel Craig indeed.
Daniel does not necessarily need to remain a producer or something ... but he was so successful in this role and seems to be stepping into a successful post-bond career now that it seems logical if he would do so. Connery, as great as he was ad 007, was so sour that only at very much the end of his career he seemed to find some warm(er) words for the role that made him a superstar.
KO opens Jan 2nd here in Germany and I am going to see it for sure. I am confident all those rave reviews of the movie itself plus the performances of Ana and Daniel are well worth the ticket price.
Excellent review for Knives Out (german language). Looking forward to see it!

In his most recent conversation with the HFPA, the 51-year old actor who is known for his reserved demeanor answered: “I am in the lucky situation where I get to read scripts and be sent scripts and offers. I’m at the stage in my career where I just want to work with people I like. Life is too short. That’s the only plan I have. To work only with people who I like. Only with nice people”.
And a lovely mention of DC in Ana de Armas profile:

She considers Daniel Craig a mentor - she finds his relentless way of working inspiring, having acted with him twice, playing a CIA agent in the James Bond movie No Time to Die by Cary Fukunaga, after Knives Out.

Brilliant news! Once a year or every two years (more realistically) on Christmas would be great ;)
I'm intrigued what is the next mystery for Benoit Blanc. Rian seems aware of the mechanics of these kind of stories and is most aware that the pieces need to fit together coherently and believably for this to work.
If he can apply the brilliance he did with Knives Out with another Benoit Blanc mystery this series could run and run.
I'm delighted.
Released here in the UK 30/03/20, think it might earlier than that in the U.S.
Thanks! Might be even later here in Norway (it didn't premiere until December 6 in cinemas), but it's good to know when to expect home media releases.
