I'd feel easier moving on from this era, if Craig wasn't such a great Bond and if he looked over the role himself

I have a suspicion, based on Barbara's complete adoration of him, that DC will remain with the franchise in some capacity.
It seems Moore and Brosnan were the only ones who really, really loved playing Bond. Some of the other guys didn't want to continue or some of them were persuaded really hard to accept and even at that, they didn't want to continue.

Craig didn't have another film in him. He's 54. He didn't want stunt doubles doing everything, and no other Bond played this role as physically as Craig did, and that's the ONLY way he was going to play it.

A man doesn't throw himself into a role like this unless he enjoys it and wants to do it right.

What he has stated, and he's being honest, is that the role of Bond is exhausting and difficult, and that no actor can be prepared for it. Great role? Of course. Fun to be Bond? Of course. Exhausting to ALWAYS be known as James Bond and to ALWAYS being called "James Bond?" Absolutely.

Please can we stop this sort of thing? She's a professional CEO in her 60s, not a schoolgirl. Both of the producers think he's brilliant because he is, they're not in love with him.

Everyone in this forum except for Jeremy is in love with him, why shouldn’t she be. He was her first.

You can make an action film without elaborate stunts and you can make a thriller/suspense film without much action. If it hadn’t been for them killing him off, he could have done one more, if they just hired good writers.

Seeing Craig in character as James Bond again, after NTTD...it's safe to say Craig could have done 7-8 Bond films, if there weren't issues.

@ByRoyalDecree I assure you no one is "in love with him".

He could come back and do one more complete standalone... recast the Whitehall Brigade so there's no baggage and let him loose one more time... It'll be his Diamonds Are Forever... ;)

Speak for yourself. I’m in love with him, but then again I'm a huge slut.

Just came back from Glass Onion. Very enjoyable. If Knives Out is a 9/10, this is an 7.5-8 (with the caveat that I saw the German Dub, which may have some of the jokes fall flat and just doesn’t have his accent at all.)

Maybe I’ll write a bit more tomorrow.

Adoration does not have to equal "being in love" in a sexual sense. It is a deep love/respect for another, and we all see that Babs has had this for DC for a long time.

It's reductive and belittling to contort the definition of being "in love" so you can say "Babs" is in love with Daniel Craig. It's just ridiculous.
Daniel Craig helped make Skyfall the first billion dollar Bond film. It's professional respect. Of course they're going to want to keep him around as much as possible.

DC made a couple of great films though he is my least favorite Bond, definitely time to move on to a new actor lol.

    Is Glass Onion on Netflix?

It will go to Netflix on 23 December. Currently it's only in theatres.

I wonder if once they starting getting ready to cast the next Bond, Daniel will step back from his association with the sponsors of the series. To give the new guy a chance to establish themselves in the role?

I'm sure he will. I can see him still working with Omega and UNMAS and stuff though.

If you've got Britbox, they've just added a '97 drama of his - 'The Ice House'.

You're going to need subtitles for Dan's attempt at a Scottish accent...

I think the misunderstanding might have come from how Barbara sticks really close to Craig in premieres or outings and she usually does it with a big smile and really looks into his eyes. Something she didn't do with Brosnan. I remember MGW saying his favourite Bond moment was the laser scene in GF...when Connery's Bond uses his wit to survive. But Barbara said her favourite Bond moment was when Craig's Bond emerged from the water in CR. So I think it's easy for people to misunderstand it with moments like that from her. But at the same time, David Arnold said them two are the most friendly producers out there. Maybe she's just being friendly.

I'm just reading the Guardian ranking of Craig performances, as linked to above, and Happy and Glorious, the 2012 opening ceremony film with the Queen is in there, and it made me wonder: just for fun, how many times has Daniel Craig played Bond? Five films obviously, but add in video games, Olympics films, adverts, how many individual performances is that?

The adverts to which you might be referring:

    2008 Sony TV ad
    2011 Int'l Women's Day (Bond dressed as a woman)
    2012 Heineken ad
    2015 Heineken ad

If we want to get technical, he also played Bond in...

    2012 SNL, as host
2015 Skit with Stephen Colbert (car rental)
2015 Skit with Jimmy Kimmel (drinking game)
    2020 SNL, as host
2021 Red Nose Day skit with Catherine Tate

I am sure there are others.
