He will certainly do a 5th movie in my opinion, I think a 6th movie is a bit of a stretch?

Craig is doing a 5th. Then a new actor comes onboard for the 26th Bond film. It'll be a huge financial disappointment, like Lazenby's OHMSS and Renner's TBL. MGM and EON beg Craig to return one last 6th time :-P.

A 6 movie stint from DC would be fine with me! But honestly cannot see it?

Err what. I said Brosnan 'edged' Craig. I'm by no means a fan.

For all his faults though, I don't recall Brosnan ever bashing Bond like Saint Craig has.

    You are all crazy.
  • I assume you're referring to the regulars on this thread? They're all in a mass delusion that Craig is in the same league as Connery & Dalton.

I respect Dalton's attempt, but his execution was over the top and too stagey. He lacks charisma, and played Bond as alway angry. He looked great in a tux, but after that he fell apart.

On the nose actor, in my opinion. Nothing subtle about his performances. Not to say Glenn didn't put him one or two outstanding sequences (he and Pushkin in the hotel room crackled).

And to open myself up to being slagged too, I grew up loving Connery as the untouchable, appreciated Moore since he had charm and charisma to spare and was out to entertain; I "got" Dalton, but hated most of his execution as cringe-worthy and too Shakespearean; didn't like Brozzer's portrayal, but I respect the man for keeping the franchise moving and, in scenes, trying to get in touch with Fleming's spy, and; fell in love with DC for reasons that OBrady has already so eloquently made note of. It's he and Connery for me.

Massive overstatement of Craig's impact & importance on here. The reboot would have been a success with nearly anyone. Craig is an ok Bond, like Brosnan actually; great first film and then let down by bad scripts. But let's kid ourselves that he is a great Bond. He simply hasn't got the sophistication. He's a bourne like assassin rather than James Bond. Modern audiences will swallow that but not purists. Brosnan edges it as a better Bond imo.

You certainly are right with most you say.
But those three words I highlighted and crossed out seem to show some extend of arrogance in your post.

Everybody has his/her preferences when it comes to the actors.

For me personally Timothy Dalton is the best James Bond for several reasons but I would never doubt that objectively seen nobody rivals Sean Connery.

I agree that people who think Craig is as good as Connery can't possibly be serious.

Craig will not be regarded any higher than Brosnan, Dalton or Lazenby in the future. The only one I would regard as completely iconic besides Connery is Moore.

    My personal ranking is:
    -Dalton
    -Brosnan
    -Moore
    -Craig
    -Connery
    -Lazenby

that is based on my history of how I got into Bond, how I enjoyed the movies in my youth and now and of course my ranking of the movies as well. It's not objective.

That's your opinion and of course you are entitled to it
However when you've been here for a while and have your feet under the table and have settled down a bit you will come to see that OPINIONS ARE LIKE ARSEHOLES in the fact that everyone has one

There you are then a piece of advise which I do hope you will find helpfull .

It is the finalized product that eventually catched up with all that overblown and misinterpreted gossip stuff and entertainment nonsense.

Pierce Brosnan did not make a "Casino Royale" or "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". So it doesn't matter how great he was with the press, fact is he didn't do a Bond film that's consistently in our TOP 3 of Best Bond Films.

By the way, Daniel Craig isn't a saint. Far from it. To me he feels real, and certainly less slimy. He's almost as blunt as a Dutchman, and I like that. But in the end, I will judge him on his acting skills. And on that field.....yeah, he is a Saint for me :-).

He isn't. And neither was Brosnan, despite what people believe. Anyone remember when he bad-mouthed Babs and Michael all over town after being "kicked to the curb"? The only real gents were Moore and Dalton. That said, all the aforementioned actors were stellar Bonds (as was Lazenby).

It will be good to see Dan play a villain for once, he can certainly do menacing, although I think where we'll really see Craig flex those dramatic muscles is Purity.

Future looks bright for him with or without Bond, I'm sure many like Soderbergh will be looking to cast him in their films, a return to Fincher would be good as they had a great working relationship on TGWTDT and DF thinks Dan is great actor and who can argue with Mr Fincher?

Dan has the ability to produce the most versatile output of any actor after leaving the role. I'm actually more excited in seeing what he's got in the future outside of Bond, especially Purity.

Dan still looks in grand shape, as well, which is good to see. It's exciting to see him take on a punky looking character that has a serious edge, and you know it'll be a very fun and vibrant role, and likely quirky as well given the Soderbergh style he's working underneath.

Maybe it's my laptop, but I think Craig looks about 15 years younger here than in SP. Must be the lighter hair.

I agree, the lighter hair works better for him. I personally also think it's the shorter hair. Unlike some, I prefer him with the buzz cut. It's a bit too thin these days to look good when longer, but again that's just my personal preference.

It's the short cut that made him look so old in SF.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Craig with longer hair come Bond 25. Not Casino Royale press conference long, but something like this would be a nice change of pace:

@jake24, I think he looks pretty aged in that clip. I personally much prefer the shorter look for him, and always have. As he's gotten older, I actually prefer it even shorter.

I'll always recall his first appearance on that boat pre-CR. Then he cleaned up for the 2nd PPK shot (the first was with the longer hair) and looked much better imho. I realize we're not talking about hair that long any more, but it's an exaggeration to make a point.

I think the QoS cut is a happy medium. Better styled, not too short, not too long.

Indeed. His character in Othello is one of the all-time great villains.

He did play the villain in The Adventures of Tintin, though we saw an animated version of him. Regardless, he played it to the hilt and I'm sure enjoyed it immensely.

In his pre-Bond work, he was a punk in Road to Perdition, and in his very first film role, The Power of One, he was pure evil.

How in the hell can he film this and then turn around and be ready for Othello??? That's quite ambitious.

And, I must add: what is with the James Bond - Han Solo connections?

Monk is an exaggeration but I agree that sometimes it looked good and others it looked weird. In any case I think his CR hairstyle suits him best, although strangely enough his hair is at its best when he's doing promo interviews for the Bond films.

@TripAces, Logan Lucky's filming will take only a month, and Othello won't be showing for very long either (he'll be all wrapped up with it just three weeks into the new year), so the remaining months of this year should be fun for Dan as he jumps from interesting project to interesting project.
