Daniel Craig, the kiss of death?

edited February 2013 in Bond Movies Posts: 2,341
Maybe there has already been a discussion on this if so I apologize but if not:
Notice how Craig's sexual conquests end up buying the farm?
Solange and Vesper in CR
Agent Fields in QoS
Finally Severine in SF

Other Actors have bedded many a babe and some end up deader than shit but not all. Craig never got with Camille in QoS and she lived, same goes for Eve Moneypenny in SF.
Just saying...

hehe interesting point you bring up @OHMSS69 , but what about Camille? should we assume Bond did not sleep with her?

Hope they break this tradition with Bond 24. It'd be nice for Craig to end his next film with a living girl.

Finally the truth is uncovered. I knew there was something not quite right about Craig! ;)

This is true so far but when all is said and done, the future may tell a different story.

Bond didn't sleep with M though....:)

Thank God! I think that's something none of us would've wanted to see :-&

That Turkish woman in Skyfall was not killed. Most of his conquests have died so far, but not all. But yes, I do hope they change this pattern in Bond 24, so it won't become repetitive.

He's certainly Mr. Little Finger of Death.

Ok, new rule. If you're a Bond girl that talks and sleeps with Craig, then you die.

Oh for Fleming's sake, people. He isn't some spectre of death.

Well, she must have talked to him at some point. It seems to me that she is either the exception that confirms the rule, or the indication that there will be a change of rule.

I'd like to say that Bond 24 will have DC in bed with his leading lady, but then I said that before SF and all it got me was a face full of egg and a crow supper with some nice remoulade sauce on the side. Guess I'll wait and see, because sometimes I can't figure out what EON is doing. Although judging from the Brozzer era, you wouldn't think they are against the concept.

Correct, Tonia's character did sleep with Bond and lived. Camille did not and lived.
  • Who says the girl in the beginning of Skyfall lived? She just didn't die onscreen. I have a hunch that the second she said goodbye to Bond she got bitten by a scorpion or hit by a bus. ;)

Seriously though, it is kind of funny (and sad) that everyone Craig touches dies...

It's really quite humorous in a morbid way. Yes, CR was tragic... then QoS and SF just piled it on.

His shaving scene with Eve ends ambiguously.
  • Don't worry, the next film will probably just be a formulaic, volcano lair (as Daniel Craig himself put it), good ending where you will wonder "whatever happened to that girl?" by the film after that, muahahahahahaahaha.

Oh, and if you're lucky, Bond will get 3 girls.

When we got DAD, everyone online was complaining and we didn't want to see the same old junk again. It still feels like a new film, sadly.

They don't shack up: it's Moneypenny, and that sexual tension is there, but nothing ever came of it. They actually had a line they were going to use in the film that made this more obvious, but they took it out.

One of the reasons why I regret Eve is Moneypenny is that scene: very sensual, erotically charged... They should have ended up sleeping together. But then Eve is Moneypenny, so I understand why it did not happen. Still, that could have been such a classic seduction scene.

Just shaving was seductive and the scene is well done by two great actors. I had thought that Bond and Eve "did it", but now I say, No they did not sleep together. Like mentioned earlier it sets up the sexual tension and gives us some backstory to the Bond/Moneypenny relationship.
It was scenes like this and others that makes SF score on all levels. (no pun intended)

When they took it out, it made it ambiguous.

And Mr. White's still alive, too. :)

Still, she is way too sexy for Moneypenny.

I would love to see for Bond 24 a break up with the Bond girl. That has never been done before in the movies, and been only done rarely by Fleming himself.
  • Well, can't you all see?

Things between Bond and a gal just aren't working out, they don't any more.

So... we'll get that remake of OHMSS. Only, now gay marriage is legal in the UK, Tracy will become Timothy.

Why do so many people think there could be no sexual tension between Bond and Moneypenny once they've slept together? Sexual tension does not require some kind of purity or abstenence.

Anyone who has had sex with a woman friend, only to agree afterwards that they should go back to being friends - because of the belief that relationship wouldn't work, for instance (as is the case between Bond and Moneypenny in Skyfall) - knows that sometimes having sex with someone actually increases the sexual tension.

Think about it: you like someone, you're attracted to them physically. You finally get to sleep with them and it's great. But all you get is just that one taste (no pun intended).......and then it's taken away. You're telling me that would result in no sexual tension? I'm telling you from personal experience, it's quite the opposite in most cases.

In my viewing of Skyfall, Bond and Moneypenny definitely spent the night together and that's what increases the tension between them from now on. They know how much they enjoyed each other, they both secretly want to do it again, but they also know they can't. Thus, the flirting and constant playful sexual tension between them actualy carries more weight - because they know exactly what they're missing.

I know Lois Maxwell and Sean Connery played them imagining the characters had a brief fling, but they had decided to break things up because of the job, so it would have worked in Skyfall, however I don't think this is what it was implied. Bond wanted to go further, Eve was careful not to let go.
  • I think it was left very ambiguous. I don't remember the exact dialoge, but in the casino afterwards, there was some suggestive language that one could take to mean that Bond got more than his stubble trimmed. ;-)

The casino dialogue bits if you wish to analyse... ;)

    James Bond: Good evening.
    Eve: Evening.
James Bond: Don't touch your ear. I've got three exits, and lots of blind spots.
    Eve: I've got them covered.
James Bond: You look beautiful in that dress.
Eve: You don't scrub up so bad yourself.
James Bond: Mm, it's amazing what one can do with an extra pair of hands.
    Eve: You're telling me.
    James Bond: Do you gamble?
Eve: I like a little flutter now and then. Who doesn't like to take chances?

    ---

    Eve: She's pretty.
    James Bond: I know.
Eve: If you like that sort of thing.
[Bond takes his earpiece off and whispers into it]
James Bond: I'll keep you posted.

As long as DC keeps making them? I don't mind! Besides, atleast you don't wonder what happened to them when the next film comes out? ;) :))
