Patton is a war film that isn't a war film. It's a fantastic film about a fantastic character. My all time favorite war film. I don't need OTT set pieces and action scenes.. just a good story.

I doubt films like Apocalypse Now are any lesser the masterpieces they are depending on whether or not you have been to war.
Sorry, my definition of 'old' is old it seems. Some war films from "Paths Of Glory" on have been great.
I think what he means is that Bond, having lived through a war, would have found war films...lacking (especially if we are talking about Fleming's Bond). What would be up on screen would be nothing like the reality that he lived through, and I don't think he'd have any interest in revisiting it through a fictional, sanitized film anyway.
    Yes, thanks!

I was talking about 40s on too, I just named Apocalypse Now because I find it to be one of the finest examples, and it is so much more than just a war film too. I really need to see it again soon, it has been too long.

i think 007 love Nolan batmans... mainly Dark KNIGHT becausee of the darkness of the JOKER (Health Ledger won an Oscar on this one...) Bonds own life is dark too.

    Sent from my I pad.

Judging by Bond's attempts at humour ('he had lots of guts' et al) I think he must have a soft spot for Carry Ons

I'd LOVE to know what the literary Bond would think of the Carry On's :))

I have a suspicion he'd regard them as an insult to Britain (he makes ONE joke in the YOLT and apologises because it was bad).

I think Bond would like the Leprechaun films, especially Leprechaun: Back To Tha Hood. When he found out that WWE were going to reboot his beloved series, and without Warwick Davis, he went on a killing spree. He took out half the worlds villains, *clicks fingers* just like that.

An interesting question, I have no idea about the answer. Just a thought: in Bond's life, there are no Bond movies.
  • especially Leprechaun: Back To Tha Hood.

Don't forget the timeless classic that is Leprechaun In Space.

I think Bond might prefer Leprechaun 3, @MajorDSmythe. Casino Royale would have been an easier mission if Bond had had one of them golden coins. ;-)

Furthermore, I think Bond would enjoy Masters Of The Universe, Debbie Does Dallas, Phantasm IV, Ernest Goes To Camp, Howard The Duck and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Why? I can't think of a reason, much like I can't think of a reason for this thread but there you go.
