5- The entire slow, dull and not very funny Scotland scenes

4- The Peter Sellers not very funny and more than slightly racist Indian impression.

3- Dr Noah's hand drawn burp clouds...badly executed and so not very funny.

2- Ronnie Corbett as Polo, very weird but not very funny.

1- Sir James really irritating stammer (and all for one not very funny line).

So, @saunders, we are agreed "not very funny" is the best description of this entire mess of a movie? ;)

5 - That poison pen letter joke is wonderful, especially considering that it was used again in OP, the only difference being that OP actually took ik seriously...

4 - The score during Mata's curious dance.

3 - The Look Of Love plays for the first time. Honestly, the aquarium does it, right? ;-) And then there's Sellers' great remark concerning Lord Nelson.

2 - Peter Sellers and Ursulla Andress meet at the casino. You have to love Sellers' acting here. The guy is splendid!

1 - Miss Goodthighs! I know - I know, hardly a few film seconds in total but MAN! you gotta love Miss Bisset in her prime years. I know I do. <3 ;-)

    1. The Torture of the Mind. (It's short, it's weird, it's also kinda creepy. But for some reason it's my favorite part of the movie.)

    2. The scene where a SMERSH agent's arm breaks though a computer screen and shoots Le Chiffre in the head. (It got a chuckle out of me.)

    3. The Music Score. (It's catchy and rather enjoyable, not John Barry, but I can see why Austin Powers likes Burt Bacharach.)

    4. The part where Peter Sellers is at an airport and punches a clerk in the face for thanking him for selecting the airline or something. (it's been too long but I wasn't expecting it. :)) )

    5. Mata Bond's Introduction.

(Keep in mind I haven't seen the movie in ages so my memory of how the scenes played out is a bit fuzzy.)

    1. Barbara Bouchet's very sexy Miss Moneypenny in baby doll nightie.

    2. Ursula Andress in that very sexy kilt and bagpipes combo (no I don't know why that does it for me either!)

    3. The unnamed very sexy extra dressed in a white bikini.

    4. Jacqueline Bisset's very sexy Miss Goodthighs.

    5. Woody Allen's Dr Noah...not sexy in the slightest but mildly amusing, but makes one wonder if Woody had stuck with acting rather than drifting into directing he could of become the Rick Moranis of the 60's.

Sorry I know my list is a bit superficial, but let's face it so is the film!

Jackie Bisset at that age was stunning (well and when she was a bit older, still stunning)

But my #1 and only real plus for this movie is the song, The Look of Love.
Lovely lilting song. Especially with Ursula's face associated with it.

    But that's it.

5 - I was never too happy with how poorly Bond's 'death' was staged.

4 - The "face like a pig" line never did it for me. Kissy's quite beautiful IMO.

3 - I've never liked the use of the old Bond Theme during the Little Nellie fight - and neither did Barry for that matter.

2 - The rooftop pursuit, with all the thugs falling down and then standing up again... Never my thing.

1 - Who put the camera in space, filming the blowing up of the SPECTRE rocket???

5 - Sean's overall lackluster at times, sometimes okay performance

4 - The "let's make Bond look Japanese!" fiasco: the prosthetics, hairstyle, fisherman's straw hat, and please stoop, Sean, and oh just the whole awful mess ...

3 - Little Nellie; I just never cared for it; perhaps it was the really stupid looking headgear that bugged me the most! Plus it wasn't used purposefully again ...

2 - The "face like a pig" line that to me insulted the women who came before Kissy

1 - Aki's death by poison; I was so disappointed she died in that way and so soon

    5) Bond using suction cups while climbing into the volcano lair. There's just something unintentionally funny about this.

    4) Bond's staged death. An interesting concept but it was "executed" (ha ha) poorly. It's used as nothing more than shock factor to trick the audience into thinking Bond is dead.

    3) The Little Nellie scene. I understand that it was 1967 but the special effects are so poor. There's no real tension involved here and Connery just looks a little ridiculous.

    2) The epic ninja vs SPECTRE fight in the volcano lair. It's supposed to be the grand finale but it comes off as boring and uninspired. It feels like I'm watching a B movie. Gilbert did a poor job with this.

    1) Bond turning Japanese. Not only is this a bad idea to begin with but then they continue on with this charade even after attempts at Bond's life have been made. Clearly no one is fooled by this disguise. It's no wonder Connery quit after this!

    5. Face like a pig line. (Was that really necessary?)

    4. Spock...Mr. Spock. (Bond Going Japanese! Now I know why William Shatner wanted Sean Connery to play the villain in Star Trek:5.)

    3. The Ninja Training sequence. (Obvious padding.)

    2. Never properly introducing Kissy Suzuki by name!

    1. Space ship eats another Space Ship. (Honestly, this idea is so OTT and stupid, I'm fine with it in TSWLM because it was a big tanker. The haunting JB score was good during those scenes.)

Good we return to the real Bond movies...

    5. Bond having the special suit (?) when arriving at the volcano

    4. Lack of dramatic tension between Bond and Blofeld

    3. Helga's stupid plan to kill Bond

    2. The mysterious cameras both above Tanaka's helicopter and the space

    1. The landing system (backwards?) and special effects for the SPECTRE capsule

    1. Barry's score! Haunting, lovely, soaring, everything - one of, if not, his very best
    2. Volcano lair attack
    3. Tiger Tanaka - everything; he's just a great character
    4. Bond's scene with Henderson
    5. Kissy and Aki - lovely Bond girls indeed and Kissy had a fun attitude

    3. Little Nellie

    1. John Barry's score

    5. The first true "take over the world" plan

    4. Any/all Helga Brandt scenes (she is a blatant Fiona Volpe ripoff, but I always liked her)

    3. Fight/chase in Osato Chemicals

    2. Blofeld introduces himself (for all the criticism Pleasance's performance can get, there's a reason his is the one in the public consciousness)

    1. Volcano. Lair.

Oh, and a late entry for the last one:

    5. Little Nellie's rear projection (really the whole thing was the definition of gimmick, but the rear projection was terrible)

    4. Fight at the docks

    3. Staging Bond's death for no reason.

    2. Turning Bond Japanese in the most unconvincing way possible.

    1. Wantonly insulting the Bond girl and giving her absolutely 0 development.

    5) M's office in the submarine.
    4) Number 11 confronts and seduces Bond.
    3) The fight in Osato's office.
    2) Bond's funeral and burial. I love Barry's score for the underwater part.
    1) Bond finally meets Blofeld

This may be the toughest list yet for me...

5 - I never understood that night school line Olympe dropped.

4 - There's a very odd shot of Tracy inspecting the Aston Martin at her father's birthday party. Almost as if they didn't know how to communicate her disapproval to Bond's presence.

3 - Again an odd shot, this time of Lazenby as he listens to Blofeld during their first encounter and keeps nodding but at the same time focuses his eyes in the most uninteresting way. It always confuses me.

2 - It's a classic - I know - but I never liked the "This never happened to the other fellar" breaking-the-fourth-wall line.

1 - Why the old Bond Theme during the raid on Piz Gloria in a film where Barry had pushed his music to an even higher level of sophistication? As with YOLT, Barry didn't like this himself.
  • 5. The weird zooming in and out when Bond is fighting the bad guys at the beach.

    4. The "falling in love" montage. I just can't get behind it. It feels like a cheap way to show their romance developing. Fortunately, it's more than made up for by the second half's depiction of their romance, except for...

    3. Tracy just so happening to be in Switzerland right where Bond is fleeing. Beyond contrived.

    2. Any of the Lazenator's cringe worthy one-liners, especially his "Bond! James Bond!" and "This never happened to the other fella!" Some of his ones when he's being taken to Draco are pretty bad, too.

    1. Dubbing Lazenby's voice for a solid half hour of the movie.

The only things that really bug me are some of the editing during the fights, the fact that Blofeld doesn't recognize Bond (one of the biggest holes in the series), Bond shagging Ruby when he is already committed to Tracy, and the dubbing....I can't really think of much more...

It isn't my favorite of the series, but it is quite polished and special when you consider what it does with the character of Bond.

I need to re-watch YOLT soon and give my best/worst for that...

    1. Lazenby Being Dubbed. (Wasn't necessary.)

    2. Blofeld not recognizing Bond.

    3. Irma Bunt being toasted, but back in action with a Machine Gun 30 minutes later!

    4. My Name's Bond...James Bond miss errr...?

    5. The Big safe decoding machine when in the previous film he had one the size of a pocket pager!

One of my least favorite films, but I'll try to be brief:

    1. Lazenby as Bond - looks were fine, but I never bought him as the character and did not enjoy his interpretation; just flat, the man cannot really act (judging only from this film); my least favorite Bond actor to the point where it did bother me the whole movie
    2. "This never happened to the other fella" - cringe; I hated that, still do
    3. The stupid plot to brainwash the girls; maybe because it was just hilariously stupid, (I must not eat chicken ...)
    4. Yeah, the camera work zoom in/out at the beach fighting scene (thanks for reminding me, Soundofthesinners)
    5. Lazenby being dubbed; I agree, it was not a good thing to do, even though I didn't care for him as Bond.

I can understand the hate for the "other fella" line, but there are tons of different ways to take that delivery.
