Oh, to limit it to 5 ...

5 - Sean's not so fine performance; spotty at best, not fit; I think of it as Bond MacLite
4 - Tiffany, who got a good deal more annoying as the film wore on
3 - the stupid moon buggy chase
2 - Bambi and Thumper supposedly able to give Bond a semi decent tussle before he shoves them underwater and they come up sputtering like little school girls
    1 - Blofeld in drag
    5. The diarrhea tub in PTS
    4. Bambi and Thumper
    3. Dr. Metz
    2. Plot
    1. Willard Whyte
  • 5. Connery looked a little "fat & greasy"
    4. Plenty O'Toole should have been utilized more.
    3. Charles Gray playing Blofeld. He was the first to pull a Joe Don Baker.
    2. The diarrhea tub
    1. Bambi & Thumper

We did that for Bond list #12, as @Dimi pointed out. Look there for our thoughts.

I will watch DAF either tonight or tomorrow and give my best/worst moments then. This is one I have dreaded revisiting like the plague...

#5 Charles Gray's Blofeld (especially the dressing up nonsense)

#4 Lana Wood. One of the least memorable (if not damn irritating) Bond girls ever

#3 The Tiffany Case character, in that, going from a savvy diamond smuggler and all round competent individual to an inept bikini-clad air-head, by end of movie

#2 Sean Connery himself. at 40 years of age, we have seen older Bonds, and there was scope there to have maybe done something, even though he was well past his supreme best, but it was a performance to forget. Just didn't look interested

#1 The non return of George Lazenby, and with it, a revenge angle for the death of Tracy. Instead, some bizarre plot about making a laser satellite from diamonds. Lame all round

Yes. What was the deal with that anyway? Was this an actual part of the casino or did they make this up specifically for the film? It makes me a little uncomfortable. I know it wasn't meant to be racist as she is supposed to be "de-evolving" or whatnot but I can see how turning a black woman into a gorilla would rub some people the wrong way. You certainly couldn't get away with it in 2013.

    5. Elephants playing slots

    4. Tiffany Case's drop of 50 IQ points

    3. Overweight, apathetic, even-worse-toupeed Connery

    2. Blofeld in drag

    1. No Lazenby

And for OHMSS, since I missed last time around

    6. Fight with Olympe

    5. Telly Savalas as Blofeld

    4. The escape from Piz Gloria

    3. The proposal

    2. The wedding

    1. Tracy's death

    Just five?

    5. The pitiful back projection when the Chinese missile base blows up.
    4. The limp excuse for a climax on the oil rig.
    3. Being almost single handedly responsible (along with YOLT) for cementing every Austin Powers cliche (guys in boiler suits, space weapons, easily escapable and convoluted deaths rather than just shooting Bond) in the public conciousness.
    2. Pissing all over the character of Blofeld (even though I do enjoy Charles Gray).
    1. Pissing from an even greater height over the great work done by Peter Hunt in OHMSS by not even mentioning Tracy and giving us a feeble by the numbers effort rather than Bond out for revenge.

Well said @TheWizardOfIce. Did you miss me?!

It seems that we hold the same views on dear old YOLT and DAF, then.

Seeing not as a sequel from OHMSS (in which case I would point as worst thing not having the proper sequel, disregarding Tracy's death, not having Hunt, Lazenby, Savalas, ecc) these are my complains:

    5. Irregular performance by Connery (sometimes good but other times lazy and stupid, eg. Bond "kissing" himself")
    4. Tiffany's tranformation from smart smuggler to what we get at the end...
    3. Bad effects of the missiles burning
    2. Lame final battle
    1. The Circus Circus sequence (the gorilla, the elephant, the whole thing is just not right!)

5 - Somehow, that Klaus Hergesheimer scene always puts a smile on my face. "G section."
4 - Walking over to Marie, to ask her. ;-) It works for me. ^^
3 - The wrong pussy + Blofeld preparing the 'lift' + Barry's wonderful play on the DAF theme.
    2 - I didn't know there was a pool down there.
    1 - "I got a brother!" - "Small world."

    5. Coffin scene - there is no escape!
    4. Taking the hovercraft to Amsterdam - Barry's "Bond theme" is so epic.
    3. Bond and M - it is like they've never been apart. "sorry about your liver sir.."
    2. Bond's and Tiffany's introduction - "well, as long as the collars and cuffs match.."
    1. Bond vs Frank

    5. Vegas Car Chase.
    4. BURT SAXBY!?! Tell him he's fired!
    3. Mister Wint and Mister Kidd.
    2. Fight with Peter Franks.
    1. John Barry's score.

    5) Bond meets Blofeld (and his double) in the Whyte House - As much as I don't like Gray's Blofeld I think that this scene works very well. Wrong pussy indeed!

    4) Bond in the burning coffin - I never much cared for the resolution to Bond's predicament but it is one of the few moments in the film where there is actual tension and Bond fears for his life.

    3) M and (Connery) Bond reunited - What great interplay between the two actors here. So many great lines. "We do function in your absence Commander!"

    2) Bond meets Tiffany - Again, so many great lines here. Also Jill St. John for the win.

    1) Elevator fight with Peter Franks - Connery's second best fight scene in the entire series.

    1) Barry's excellent music - entire score and lovely theme song
    2) Bond meets Tiffany; good lines indeed (especially "collars and cuffs")
    3) Peter Franks fight in the elevator
    4) Wint and Kidd (priceless, very well played and unusual villains)
    5) Hovercraft in Amsterdam

    3. Peter Franks vs. the REAL Peter Franks

    2. "I gotta brudda"... "Small World."

5 - The two men who escort Bond out of the Fillet of Soul are terrible brawlers. There was never any threat.

4 - Bond deceiving Solitaire. This is one bit of sexual abuse for which I blame Bond.

3 - Secret agent? On WHOSE side? One peppered scene too many.

2 - I have a few existential issues concerning Baron Samedi. ;-) Dude dead or what?

1 - Pretty much everything with Rosie in it. :|
  • Posts: 1,631
    5) Rosie Carver

    4) Roger Moore's introduction as Bond. It's not a bad scene, per se, but compared to the rather cool pre-title sequences that debuted the other actors or, in the case of Connery, the excellent introduction of the "Bond, James Bond" line, Moore's significantly is lacking by comparison.

    3) Kananga's death. A bit over the top and not at all convincing.

    2) The airport chase

    1) Bond using a stacked deck of tarot cards against Solitaire

    5. Rosie Carver's screaming.
    4. silly noise killing the UN Agent.
    3. Baron Samedi on the train at the end.
    2. JW Pepper.
    1. Mr. Big's death.

    5. Showing exact same footage from the Harlem funeral/jazz scene twice in the film
    4. Bond being fooled by the revolving furniture set ... twice
    3. Baron Samedi living and laughing it up at the end.
    2. ROSIE - crigeworthy character all around
    1. Kanaga's ridiculous demise (silly and undercut an excellent performance by Yaphet)
  • edited June 2013 Posts: 3,236
    5. Rosie Carver

    4. Faking the cards for Solitaire

    3. "Names is for tombstones, baby."/"Take this honky out back and waste him."

    2. The drive through Harlem, or as my dad put it, "Every black person in the world is in on it!"

    1. Kananga exploding

"3. Bambi and Thumper apparently able to kick Bond's butt for a while, before he plunges them underwater and holds them both there easily with one hand each (eh?? this was a fight?)" @4EverBonded this is from DAF.
