It is indeed
It's been a while since i've watched a Brosnan film ;-)
5) The fight in Carver's "soundproof" room, just very well executed and enjoyable
4) The PTS - really fun and exciting and well written (love Judi in this bit)
3) Bond and Wai Lin's motorcycle escape, which I thought was very well done, and ending in the outdoor shower (I love that brief scene)
2) Bond and Q (anytime they are together) - they really had such lovely chemistry during Brosnan's tenure
1) Waiting for Paris in his hotel room AND discovering Paris dead and killing Dr. Kaufman - Brosnan's Bond at his very best in both scenes
4. the PTS
3. Bond steering the car from the back seat
2. the motorcycle chase
1. the scene between Bond and Dr. Kaufman
How come there are so few entries for this particular list,
the 6 best scenes in OHMSS!!!!!???
Anyway, in catching up with my reading after joining you all here, these are mine.
Not in an order or best > worse but in order of playing in the film. They are heavily influenced by the music score that runs right through the core of this amazing film - Barry was a genius and for me this is his best work in a Bond:
1:
Opening title sequence: A superb piece of music that I will never tire of hearing, the way it builds up with the percussion with the strident back beat, it's full on energy and flat out pace.
2:
Ascent to Piz Gloria by Helicopter: This one builds up gently and sounds so light and breezy matching the thin air of the scenery that's matched so perfectly - I get the prickle of hairs standing up on the back of my neck - it's just such a great part of the film matching the music so well with the imagery. The cresting of the first peak before 'avvvalanche daaamage' and then flying over the Cafe veranda.
'Not growwwwnd... IIIICCCCEEE' :)
3:
Ski chase: Absolutely brilliant and with Barry's amazing music back again - it's such an intrinsic part of it! Did I mention I love this film? OK, it's let down under regular visiting by the ropey actor close ups with the filmed ski background although the real skiing by everyone filmed is sharp, quick and real so exciting.
4: No clip here but it's where Bond is sitting catching his breath hiding from pursuers and these feet skate up and stop in front of him and he raises his vision up the body to see Tracy smiling down at him. Then it all kicks off with the start of the chase after the couple with her driving the Cougar.
5:
Helicopters approaching Piz Gloria: I love the way the tension slowly builds up with here some gentle humour whilst anticipating the attack on Blofeld with the morse code pinging "Over and out" track by Barry in the background. I can listen to this over and over and find myself humming it sometimes. Honorable mention to skating along on the belly with a machine gun.
6:
We have all the time in the world: I can't bring myself to actually show a YouTube clip with a bullet in Tracy's forehead but what a superb bespoke Bond song.
Oh man, after watching these short clips I'm planning on watching the whole film from the start now. There's the snowstorm, then the barn and the proposal...
I'm sure the film could be great anyway with a different music score but thanks to Barry and his orchestra, it's an epic film.
Bad bits?
1: The Aston screeching it's tires at the start driven by Tracy. She's a smart girl but tyres squealing on sand?
2: Erm nothing else irritates me honestly, even the "oooh Hilly" or "other fella"

LIST 56
The 5 worst moments in TWINE.
4. The painface during the torture sequence.
3. MI6 spying on Bond using thermal sensors.
2. R's "inflated" sense of demonstrations.
1. Christmas Jones and Denise Richard's bad acting.
4 - The climax. I hardly understand the interior of a submarine let alone what weird sorts of control panels they have there. Too bad, for the climax pretty much expects me to do so.
3 - Raid on a caviar factory with helicopters with sawing blades... Seriously?
2 - M goes McGuyver.
1 - Brosnan's line delivery during his first attempt at unmasking Electra. He knew exactly where to huuuuurt me.
2. Denise Richards. Horribly wooden. American actresses are not faring well in the Brosnan era (and things are soon to get a whole lot worse...).
3. The awful puns you can see coming a mile off "See you back at the lodge", "I thought Christmas only comes once a year". You get the gist of it. (Special mention of Bond using the phrase "All the romantic vacation spots". It's holiday, Brosnan, not vacation!!)
4. The set piece at the caviar factory. When the second helicopter is destroyed it is an absolutely horrific "special effect" that looks so so bad.
5. When he bursts into the control room on the submarine "move, move, get over there, up, up, move". I hate that moment soooooo much.
Oh dear, DAD is coming up shortly. I'm going to get writer's block by the end of it cos "5 Worst Moments" just ain't gonna be enough...
5. The PTS does go on for far too long. The title song should have started just after Bond escapes from the banker's office. I would have prefered the boat chase to be after the song..
4. The Christmas pun's are too corny and cringeworthy..
3. Denise Richards - a dreadful 'actress', and totally unconvincing in her role. How did she get the part?, didnt they do a screen test?
2. I love Sophie Marceau as an actress, and i thought she was good as Electra - BUT, i wish she had been given more screen time as the villainess or 'bad bond girl'. Being the main villain (or at least one of them), i would have liked to have seen a lot more of the sinister side of her character..
1. For me, the climax of the film was totally spoilt by Denise Richards bad acting. Instead of enjoying an exciting finale, i usually end up giggling at the way she delivers some of her lines..
4. Another gadget car to tick the Bond cliche boxes. The fact its painfully shoehorned in as part of the deal with BMW (if youre not paying attention you might have missed the subtle use of the logo as a target sight) just makes it more annoying.
3. The boat ignoring the laws of physics and driving down the street for about 5 miles. An already bloated sequence rendered utter bollocks. I actually prefer the Bondola - at least, in its own twisted universe, that is logical. This is just embarrassing - especially when it goes round a corner. Has Q invented a tarmac rudder or something? A double take pigeon couldn't have made this more cringeworthy.
2. 'Great idea about a villain who can feel no pain. See how he can hold those hot rocks without flinching!! Wow the final showdown with him and Bond is going to be something tasty. Probably he will get an arm or a leg lopped off and still keep coming. This could be better than Bond v Grant. Oh it's just a bog standard fight and theyve completely spunked the no pain idea up the wall'.
1. The utter pointlessness of Christmas Jones. Just take her out completely and the film loses nothing and with Elektra being the only Bond girl we get a really good ending. But alas in those days we still had to end the film with Bond and the girl (and in this case an utterly appalling final line).
Those two especially deserve my ^:)^
4 - "He knew about my shoooooooulder. Knew exactly where to huuuuuuuurt me." God, if it wasn't for bad acting moments like this, I would've been able to actually give proper praise to Brosnan's performance here. Alas, instead of me going "Yeah, Brosnan was great in TWINE, up there with Craig and Dalton and early Connery for me", it ends up being "Yeah, Brosnan's best performance is TWINE, but that isn't really saying much."
3 - Introduction to John Cleese as R. Can't watch it without having PTSD visions about his part in the film that would follow. He's pretty miserable to watch here as well, thank God the balloon jacket inflates and shuts him up.
2 - I have two words: Buzzsaw. Helicopters.
1 - The ending. Ruins what is really a quite decent Bond film. Really, do we need Denise Richards at all? Methinks not.
4. The boat driving on the streets of London in the PTS. Really?1??
3. Good ideas (like Renard) that never go anywhere.
2. "I thought Christmas only came once a year". AUGHH.
1. Denise Richards.
4. Painface getting tortured
3. The way they throw Bond's family motto without using it as a reference to his family history or anything related personally.
2. The submarine anti-climax
1. Everthing with Christmas Jones
#2 Bond rolling down the Millenium Dome structure at the pre titles sequence to ridiculous drum roll sound effects
#3 The whole 'devils breath' sequence with Renard and Davidov / Arkov
#4 Bond being able to hold his breath underwater in Istanbul for longer than humanly possible with the submarine near the end
#5 Renard punching the glass table and cutting his hand, when with King
Got to say, the protective inflatable ball, or whatever it was, when Bond is ski-ing with King, appeared pretty damn stupid also
4. Renard feeling pain during the final fight with Bond.
3. The Pain Face
2. All things Christmas Jones, especially...
1. "I thought Christmas only comes once a year"
Honorable mention: "He knew all about my shooooullder, knew exactly how to huuuuurrt me."

4 - Molly Warmflash. I love this bit of old fashioned Bond stuff.
3 - The close-but-no-cigar talk with MP.
2 - Driving the black boat on the Thames.
1 - Waving Q goodbye - more meta than we could have known...
4 - The boat chase on the Thames. One of my favourite action sequences in the series.
3 - Very small moment, but Bond's angry, shout-whispered "TANNER!" when he doesn't receive a mission briefing. Brosnan, as much as I loathe him, was very good in this film.
2 - The first half of the PTS with Lachaise. Brilliant. Very thrilling and well executed by everyone involved in front of and behind the camera.
1 - Bond kills Electra. The runaway best moment in Brosnan's tenure.
1) Definitely the fine PTS. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.
2) Valentin - a great character with a well written and superbly played exit.
3) Bond and Q, all of their time together; I love their chemistry.
4) Bond and Moneypenny; ditto, I enjoy these two together.
5) Bond killing Elektra. Just the right attitude there.
2. The entire Pre title sequence.
3. Q's Final scene.
4. Bond's anger when he doesn't get a mission briefing. Tanner!
5. She's Waiting for you! While the death is kind of a let down, Brosnan's sadistic grin makes the death of Renard a tiny bit satisfying.
Honorable mention's go out to the return of Valentin and the Battle at the Caviar factory.
4. The briefing on Renard (a little like a Death Star briefing, I admit)
3. The "I take pleasure, on great beauty" line
2. The PTS
1. Q's goodbye
Also, I quite like the submarine climax in TWINE. I've always found it exciting, though I completely understand why people find it lacklustre. I see all the things that bother people about it, but said things have just never bothered me. Except for Renard feeling pain during the fight.
He could have just been flinching. That's always what I thought.
It always came across to me very much as if Bond's blows had caused him actual pain. There's more than just flinching to be found in his reactions.
2. Desmond's final scene. Made so much more poignant by his untimely death soon after the film was released.
3. Every scene featuring Robbie Coltrane. I loved him as Zukovsky in GE, but he's even better in this. "I'm looking for a submarine. It's big and black and the driver is a very good friend of mine".
4. Renard confronts M at Maiden's Tower.
5. Bond shoots Elektra. "I never miss".
@DarthDimi
I would also like an extension on the very next list to perhaps 10. Because let's face it, 5 is just never going to be enough!
Fair point. We could be responsible for breaking the internet! :))
4. The Boat Chase on the Thames
3. The moment where Elektra finally reveals that she's the villainess when she gives M her father's pin..
2. Bond killing Elektra..
1. Q's final scene..
