5 - Ramirez in Highlander. Connery did it for the money, but I have fun with his role in the first film of the dreaded series.

4 - Ramius in Hunt For Red October. I love the film, and Connery is fabulous in it!

3 - Henry Jones in The Last Crusade. Connery opposite Ford and directed by Spielberg. Wow!

2 - Malone in The Untouchables. Great performance!

1 - Connor in Rising Sun. Connery is absolutely awesome in it.

    @Zorin61, surely Marnie wasn't a film Connery did post-Bond. ;-)

@DarthDimi. Is it supposed to be post-Bond roles then?

Anything after DAF I would think.

Oops, I'm sorry, guys. My mind was elsewhere. Post-Bond is what I had originally had in mind but then I decided against it.

I apologise, @Zorin61. Excellent choices. Please ignore my clumsy remark.

Wasn't sure as it doesn't state that in the title of the thread just "the 5 best non-Bond roles" and if we're doing this for all the actors (other than GL obviously) it's gonna be tough to come up with 5 for DC!

Actually, I haven't seen any of Connery's films in years, bar Bond and Last Crusade. Perhaps it wasn't Sean I remember being the better part of Entrapment after all!

    1. I want Campbell to do Craig's final film.

    2. I'd like to see Tarantino do an unofficial one. Sorry Willy! It'd be a fun romp!

    3. I think a John Woo Bond film would be interesting. He'd need to be able to work under a different formula, though. Storytelling wise and such.

    4. If Nolan can be faithful to the formula, use Arnold instead of Zimmer for the score, and use actors/actresses not named Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, anyone else he uses in every film he makes, he'd do an excellent Bond film.

    5. Total fantasy: a Scorsese Bond film. It'd be unique. I don't know how much Id like it, though.

    6. Michael Mann. Again, changes to his formula and he can make an excellent Bond film.

    7. I feel like Oliver Stone could make a good one. I'm not sure why but I can just see it.

1.) Michael Mann (My dream Bond film. I would love for it to happen, even with his current style, because it would be so unique.)

2.) Christopher Nolan (Look at Inception, he is fit for a directing job.)

3.) David Fincher (With how all of his other films are, he could deliver one hell of a dark film.)

4.) Steven Spielberg (He's great at action, drama, storytelling, he would be a great choice.)

5.) Ridley Scott (He's made non sci-fi films, and I think he could deliver a good product.)

6.) Quentin Tarantino (I apologies, as well, Willy, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious as to how a QT Bond film would turn out.)

7.) Matthew Vaughn (After his 'X-Men: First Class' bar scene, I would love to see what he could do at the helm of a full Bond movie.)

@0013, I didn't think about Cuaron. 'Children of Men' was excellent, and if he helmed a Bond film with a big fight sequence/shootout, I would love to see one of those long shots again, just like the finale.

Thanks, Willy. I tried to think who could be creative and stay true enough to Bond. I do like Afleck as a director. I threw in Barber because of Harry Brown, of course.

I don't pay as much attention as I should when it comes to who directed what, so it was a struggle to list seven:

Martin Campbell + Bond = GoldenRoyale.
    Ridley Scott- An impressive resume.
Chris Nolan- Batman aside, Memento and The Prestige have me sold.
Steven Spielberg- Well, because it's Spielberg.
Martin Scorsese- I recently watched 'The Departed'. Awesome film there.
Matthew Vaughn- Kickass, Layer Cake. That's good enough for me.
David Fincher- Great resume, plus look at the list of music videos he's directed. I'm sure he and Daniel Klienman would ensure a killer title sequence- not that the latter needs any help achieving that by himself.

I'm not saying it would be a good idea, but I'd also be curious to see QT's take on Bond. Perhaps Ben Affleck will make the list when I see Argo. Imagine what a Paul Verhoeven Bond film would look like. The gunbarrel sequence alone would be bloodier than the whole of LTK and QoS combined! :))
