    1. TSWLM - For me probably the quintessential gadget car chase. A variety of foes and Bond for the most part escaping through good driving before getting away with the ludicrous coup of turning into a submarine FFS. But the filmmakers pull it off because they have Rog at his absolute peak selling it to you as only he can!

    2. TLD - Possibly the most Bondian film car of all - almost harks back to the heavy Bentley's Fleming wrote about and I like Dalton's grim expression as he delivers the 'optional extras' line. Love - the rockets, HUD, skis and self destruct. Hate - the lasers (we're in the Dalton era not Rog) and the bit where he drives the shed across the lake (Why wouldn't he just smash out the other side? Simply stupid).

    3. FYEO - Superb inventiveness from Remy Julienne and fantastic entertainment to see Bond in such a shut car and thrashing it to death.

    4. AVTAK - Remy Julienne turning things up to 11 with a simply preposterous series of stunts. A tragically underrated chase probably due to the sloppy stunt doubling.

    5. TND - Tremendous fun and Brozza, in possibly his best performance, having a whale of a time. Ruined for me by the stupid wire cutting gadget in the logo which manages to foresee that someone will place a sure at that precise height in Bond's path. Also really lacks a killer one liner when the car lands in the Avis window.

    6. QOS - Some of the driving is excellent, there are some crunching crashes and the shot of the villain's car going over the cliff is sublime. But obviously the editing means it is bottom by far.

Is the tanker chase from LTK allowed as that would probably be in 3rd? Or are we strictly rationed to cars?

    6. TMWTGG: the funniest of them all
    5. QOS: most classic Bond scene in the movie
    4. TLD: from jazz to cello...
    3. TSWLM: Lotus, underwater, Naomi, it is all too good
    2. TND: best action sequence from the Brosnan era
    1. OHMSS: big paradox, in my favorite chase the car ain't driven by Bond

    1. No really, a tanker can do wheelies (LTK)
    2. A nice leisurely Sunday drive off of the pier (TSWLM)
    3. Come on Dan, you can do it, eight flips (CR)
    4. How to wreck an auto garage without really driving (TND)
    5. Always winterize your vehicle when being chased by commie cops (TLD)
    6. George hadn't graduated yet from driving those bumper cars (OHMSS)

Well, if the tanker chase is counted as a car chase (Bond's on foot for the majority of it so I always thought of it differently)...

6: Casino Royale - Brief pursuit in Montenegro. The iconic car flip that set the world record.
5: For Your Eyes Only - Citroen chase.
4: On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Bond and Tracy chase. Tracy behind the wheel? Enough said!
3: The Spy Who Loved Me - Lotus chase/swan dive. You get it all here! Bond's takedown of the motorcycle rider, JAWS IN PURSUIT, the helicopter, and of course, the Lotus turning into a submarine. Woohoo!
2: The Living Daylights - The ice chase. Of all the "strictly" car chases, this is my absolute favourite. Start to finish, Dalton is on top form once you get past "Salt corrosion"; everything from that to the destruction of the Aston is perfection. The V8 Vantage is also my favourite car in the series.
1: Licence to Kill - The tanker chase. Best action sequence in the entire series for me. Those explosions are absolutely bonkers huge.

There's the TLD Aston Martin chase, then the TND BMW chase.
    Period.
If Big Rigs counted here, it might be #1.
All others pale by comparison IMO. :))

    5??!

At least a nom for those you mentioned (I'd have to check the competition from that year again ...)

But I'll give an Oscar for two categories:

    Production Design

    Music (Barry)

Moonraker is certainly a bad Bond film, but it has got exceptional production design that's worthy of an oscar.
    Same with the score.

I know that Moonraker was nominated for the best visual effects oscar, so the film is definitely oscar-worthy.

IMO, Moonraker is an artistic masterpiece. It's just the cheesy humour, Jaws and Dolly and all the other common criticisms that makes it a lesser film in the series.

    Okay, now we're talkin'! ;;)

    1) Anya's midnight blue gown in TSWLM (how could you leave that out, Dimi?)
    2) Vesper's purple gown in the casino in CR (tied with her black gown in CR)
    3) Severine's black gown in the casino in Skyfall
    4) Solange's gown in QOS
    5) Eve's gold casino gown in Skyfall
    6) Holly's Venice dress in MR

I would have added Tracy's skating outfit and Octopussy's kimono; but those are not technically dresses or gowns. (dress or gown; I just usually think dresses are a big shorter)

Which reminds me, I love Natalya in GE but cannot think of any beautiful dress she wore at all. Shame! Nice white bikini outfit with the wrap; I liked that a lot.
