I'm going to bump this.

Can't believe only two people on this forum have an opinion on DN's opening titles.

I will chime in on the DN opening titles.
I was actually blown away when I first saw them. The colors, the music booming. Then seeing those calypso colorful silouhetted dances...and the three blind mice. I thought it was all so sophisticated and impressive.
they really stand out with the early films and it was not until TB that these titles were actually topped.

Of course old Maury Binder had nothing to do with the awful titles for FRWL and the iconic GF...

Transition PTS-OT
I absolutely love that sudden bursting open of the orchestra after a rather quiet couple of closing seconds of the PTS.

Music
I'm a huge fan of the music here. I love the instrumental version of FRWL more than the sung version. The best part of it is when the music transitions to the Bond theme with an awesome musical power! I love the energy Barry injected in this track.

Images
Brownjohn's images are good; the dancing body projections and the many colours of the titles certainly belong to the 60s. They're sexy and flashy. But sometimes I must admit I have trouble reading all the names (not that I always have to of course ;-) ) because of the motion of the titles.

Movie Title Font
It's a simple font. I'm rather neutral towards it.

Transition OT-Movie
Sudden but not bad, though after the loud ending of the song, the also rather loud musical follow-up is in danger of putting me off. Luckily, we get to the chess game immediately thereafter and all is quiet.

Favourite moment?
As I stated before, at about the 1:51 mark, the Bond Theme kicks in at full force. Screenplay and music and other credits are shown. It's as if the music wants to tell us that right about now we need to pay attention again to the names. ;)

And wasn t it Peter Hunt s idea to put the training exercise with the fake Bond before the main title sequence? The man invented the pre title sequence, was a cutting edge editor and made the best Bond movie of all time. He does not get enough credit.

Well, @Thunderfinger, why don't you follow the list as I suggested? Would be interesting to read your analysis. :-)

It would pretty much be a copy of your own analysis, so thanks for saving me the work.

    1. Transition PTS-OT
Few seconds of silence, then, boom! Gotta love Barry.

    2. Music
Like Dimi, I prefer the instrumental version of FRWL. And then it moves onto the Bond theme; goosebump inducing.

    3. Images
A simple style, projected onto the body of a woman. Simple, mischievous.

    4. Movie Title Font
    Meh

    5. Transition OT-Movie
    Bit jarring.

    Favourite moment?
The kick in on the Bond Theme.

So analysing opening titles didn t strike a chord. How about something else? Or has 150+ lists maybe exhausted the field?

I didn't even know this thread existed.

Any suggestions, then? The thread has been going since before SP, so some of the old lists could be redone, I am sure.
