Ok, my suggestion for Bond 25 is Sia Furler, who I think is the next natural progression from Adele. She's got a fabulous voice, writes all her own songs and has written for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Beyoncé and Rihanna, who took the Sia-penned song "Diamonds" to No. 1. Of course she had her own global hit with "Chandelier" last year.

Chris Cornell to bookend Craig's run or Adele one more time.
  • The World Is Not Enough is an awful song? That I find shocking.

I love "The World Is Not Enough". It's slow, sultry, mysterious, just like "You Only Live Twice". Shirley's fragile, yet smokey vocals are amazing.

I'd rank the last 8 Bond songs as follows (final cinematic versions only):

    1- "Skyfall"
2- "The World Is Not Enough"
    3- "Writing's On The Wall"
    4- "GoldenEye"
    5- "You Know My Name"
    6- "Tomorrow Never Dies"
    7- "Die Another Day"
    8- "Another Way To Die"

1- "You Know My Name" A bold classic
2- "Skyfall" Not a big Adele fan, but this is a classic
3- "GoldenEye" Nostalgia elevates this one
4- "Tomorrow Never Dies" With a stronger vocal, Ann Wilson ?, this would be higher
5- "Another Way To Die" I am in the tiny minority that actually likes this song
6- "The World Is Not Enough" I'm a big Garbage fan but this was sub-par for them.
7- "Writing's On The Wall" I despise the vocal on this one
8- "Die Another Day" A mess.

1 Writing's On The Wall, best Bond song since at least AVTAK and Moonraker.

2 GoldenEye, classic Bond, only rivalled by Shirley.

3 The World Is Not Enough, Garbage was a bold choice that paid off

4 You Know My Name, another bold choice that fits the movie like a glove

5 Tomorrow Never Dies, Sheryl's singing is the weak point, but otherwise a great song

6 Skyfall, chorus is very boring and Adele is shrieking more than singing, now her newer song Hello should have been the Bond song, perfect voice there.

7 Die Another Day, while I find this a good electro(nic)-pop song, it was awfully unfitting for Bond.

8 Another Way To Die, this is by far the worst ever Bond song ruining Kleinman's perfect work in the titles.

    EON needs to get Ivy Levan. This is a far better theme than I'd expect for the movie it came from (granted, I haven't seen Spy);
  • There's probably another thread for this, but while we're all at it:

    1. GoldenEye
    2. You Know My Name
    3. The World Is Not Enough
    4. Tomorrow Never Dies
    5. Skyfall
    6. Another Way to Die
    7. Die Another Day
    8. Writing's On the Wall

(Surrender goes between YKMN and TWINE)

I will say, @BMW_with_missiles, despite some (surely intentional) cheesy instrumentation, the style of that song is big, bold, and dramatic in the vein of a Thunderball or Surrender. Would absolutely love to see a return to that style for the next song. Recently, YKMN and Skyfall have approached that territory without quite fully going there. And Levan's vocals are perfect in that song—rich and impassioned. I mean, geez, if it weren't for the occasional shots of Melissa McCarthy, that could be the music video for the latest Bond song.

And @bondsum, a thousand yeses to Sia.

    @Thunderfinger, keep trying.

I could see Bond and Tanner pumping that **** from their boat as they ride down the Thames. Just a couple of cool dudes.

That's precisely what I'd want from a song to represent the Bond film.

Awful. Sounds like something from Austin Powers than a Bond song.

The Spy title track above sounds like someone trying too hard to make a Bond sounding song to my ears. A pastiche.

I have the same criticism of Surrender as well, which is why I prefer Crow's Tomorrow Never Dies (I realize I'm in the minority). The tone of it and the pacing is different to Goldeneye and a bit more subdued, which I like.

Spy is a great film btw. Highly recommended and a hoot from start to finish.

That is the template of the Bond song in its generic form, which is why it is likable for me. And the thing is, it has been lacking somehow since TWINE. Well, Adele brought some of the elements back with Skyfall but to tell you the truth, I'd rather if the Bond songs follow the Goldfinger template that set the tone of what someone would expect from a Bond song.

This is a shock. I always thought that MK12 is standing for Kleinman's company or something like that.
    I feel silly now.

Michael Kiwanuka has a great voice. With an orchestra behind him it would be epic.

Lolling. Is it because Mark E, Smith looks a bit like Daniel Craig there, and that other bloke (guitar player?) looks a bit like Rory Kinnear?

Aurea would be another good option. Her voice is great, and this particular song would work in a hypothetical situation where a former Bond returned for one more (just imagine this playing during the titles of a new Dalton, Brosnan, or Lazenby Bond film). The song takes a little to really get going, though. Apparently it's from some Portuguese film, but it's in English.
