Why does it need to be a British band?
I vote for the Scandinavians. ;)

There was a report that Daniel Craig wanted US indie band Car Seat Headrest to do the next song. The Daily Star reports that Queen Bey is in talks. I only just realized they meant Beyonce. Surely it’s too early to lockdown the singer?

If you can get a big-time director and singer involved before securing a distribution deal you have a better advantage in the negotiations. Despite this, I, too, am not confident they're seriously searching for an artist this early.

After Mark Strong's heart-breaking rendition of "Country Roads" in KINGSMEN 2, there could only be one choice:

Better than Sam Smith's crying and sobbing, aye? ;)

But seriously, talking about KINGSMEN, why not have Sir Elton penning a song. And maybe even have hom perform it?

Nah, I suppose, people here would not support this idea. ;)

Well, Radiohead were rejected for SPECTRE, so I doubt, they will give it another try. But it's way too early for the producers to pick an artist NOW IMO.

QOS should have been Amy Winehouse, Bassey in her day maybe but the perfect storm would have been Amy & Ronson.

Another one of those things that should have happened but never did.

Lets face it though it will be flavour of the moment that gets the job, EON will have enjoyed the fact that they now have back to back Oscars for the title song and think this is the way to do it.

I see them trying to coax back Adele or someone like Ed Sheeran, though I sincerely hope not.

Sam Smith was for me the worst theme of the series, I can stomach Maddy's DAD more than that but I'm prepared for as bad if not worse.

As long as they sort the score out this time and not make it aural wallpaper I'll settle for an awful theme.

Though getting one of Britain's best bands of the moment like The Arctic Monkeys would be great but I think it's unlikely.

The trajectory does suggest Shearan but may be the choice of director will play a large part as well. i get the sense Mendes was quite involved in the choice of Adele and Smith.

Sade would have been a Great choice back in the 80s/early 90s.

There have been so many 'should have beens' over the years. Winehouse and Ronson obviously. I always thought Portishead were a shoe-in back in the 90. They were huge fans of Barry - their albums are infused with his influence. Or even Massive Attack.

I hope Coldplay never get anywhere near Bond, Sam Smith was enough.

Go to the originators of their sound Radiohead & U2 rather than the combined tribute act, CP haven't done an original thing in their entire career.

I really wish they'd become conciously uncoupled and put us all out of our misery, they are no better than Oasis when it comes to presenting anything they've actually come up with themselves rather pilaged from other sources.

Gaga & The Weekend might be interesting but The Monkeys would be my no. 1 for the job out of those 4.

Here is the thing: the past two themes were commercial. If EON goes that way again and wants a band, Coldplay would be a logical choice. British? Worldwide commercial appeal? They check the boxes, which is why I placed them there.

Beyonce would be a slam dunk hit. Anything she does, the media take notice. Put some huge wah wah wahhhhhhhhhh brass behind her, smash hit.

Nah. Any way it's as much about the writing.

Most important for me is a song that's worked into the score. Last time we had that was CR.

Nicole Scherzinger performed "GoldenEye" before for the remake of the video game namesake (I can't believe it's been seven years!), why not hire her to perform an actual song for a Bond film?
