What do you want from Billie Eilish's NTTD's title song?

  • So far from the rumoured (baseless or not), I'd prefer:

    1. Lana Del Rey
    2. Michael Kiwanuka
    3. Sting
    4. Lady Gaga
    5. Arctic Monkeys

And I hope there will be a separate song by a different artist for the end-titles. We haven't had one in decades. Fukunaga's directing - anything goes! We already know there will be some Jamaican and Cuban party beats before things get too serious.

And the fact that Adele is in the recording studio as we speak? Not on your list?

Not really a suggestion but I always thought Michael Buble's version of Cry Me A River sounded like a Bond song, dramatic and classy. I wouldn't mind a song like that for No Time To Die.

More than anything else I'd just love a rock song or at least a song were Bond is portrayed as strong appose to Writing's On The Wall, which I think made Bond sound weak

She's had her run, so not a top 5 preference for me ;)

I would love to see Adele return but to give us something fresh. We've had two slower tracks in a row, give us something with a faster more bombastic tempo.

I'm all for Adele returning and becoming our modern day Bassey.

I've mentioned The Killers several times in this thread as they are immensely popular in Britain and would very much be the modern Duran Duran in terms of Bond sound. They've also got a new album coming out in the spring so what better time for some extra promotion! They're also no stranger to releasing stand alone singles.

I'd also be happy with Sting or one of the Gallaghers.

I’m not a massive fan (I don’t dislike them though) but I think they’d be a decent choice. They were pretty huge at Glastonbury this year and have plenty it appeal to a wide variety of people. They wouldn’t excite me but they’d be a logical choice and could well do a good song, yes it’s a good thought.

No Time To Die should be name of the song, another reasen why Adele should wait. I like to see another artist get option to sing the name of the movie.

I also don't mind if there make Instrumental track named No Time To Die and ask artist for the end credits.

Shirley Bassey or Adele doing a new recording of No good about Goodby but change lyrics in No Time To Die. Adele and Shirley Bassey doing a new recording of No good about Goodby but change lyrics in No Time To Die.

If it will be Adele: There can take 2 March Daniel Craig his birthday. Song No Time To Die released and tracklist of Adele album with the song one of tracks on same day. It turn out her album wil not released around christmis. or No Time To Die going to be her second she wil release.

Mabey No Time To Die wil not get single release like Skyfall and Spectre, but only avaible on her album. Other way around happend with Skyfall. It was very disapointed there not release Skyfall on her 25 album too. Instrumental version there can at on the soundtrack then.

Yeah I’d hope it’d be called No Time To Die too. I can understand why they’d steer clear of calling a song Octopussy, and perhaps Casino Royale might’ve been a slightly undramatic lyric, but it’s hard to see why you wouldn’t call a song ‘Spectre’. That’s a decent song title: it has a bit of mystery and drama to it. NTTD does too.

Bring Dame Shirley Bassey back one last time, if she's up to it and let the lass sing her heart out one last time, for the fans. I'm not familiar with current music so as for todays artists to choose from yo ugot me there mate.

Radiohead had no problem with coming up with a song called Spectre.

It certainly made more sense lyrically than that soppy nonsense that Smith came up with, whether Mendes told him to write it or not, it had no bearing on the film at all.

I would like to see some muscle with the NTTD theme, not another ballad.

Though I'm setting myself up for disappointment, it's the one aspect that I have come to terms with is likely not to be to my liking.

I don't imagine anything will top YKMN in the Craig era, although if The Arctic Monkeys were given the job then maybe it might.

I think Skyfall is going to be the one to beat from the Craig years to be honest. It’s quite exciting to see who it is they’ve picked: could be genius, could so easily be disaster!

I think from a popularity stand point yes and it winning an Oscar and being the theme to the most successful film of the series.

I don't think it lives outside the credits, it's gangbusters on the Kleinman main titles but on its own it sounds pretty dreary.

To be honest not really since AVTAK as a theme been able to stand out on its own without the film, I think YKMN has got the closest to that and it has aged well and become a firm favourite of the fans, it wasn't raved about so much when it first was heard.

Although it has grown in stature as time has gone on, Skyfall pretty much plateaued straight away and had nowhere else to rise to.

Well it got to number one, won an Oscar, was performed at the Oscars and Glastonbury etc. I think it’s had a pretty big life outside of the film! :) Especially compared to YKMN which did none of those things and really doesn’t exist much beyond the credits. Fans are fond of YKMN, yes, but SF is the big success story.

I'm fairly sure he was offering a personal opinion on its quality, not its popularity (what it won or where it was played etc). That's what he meant by "living beyond the credits".

That is exactly what I meant, the song isn't really that great outside of the credits. Adele herself had done much better and I'm not really a fan.

YKMN has grown in stature over the years, Skyfall had no where to rise it is likely the most recognised Bond song of the modern age due to her involvement, it was bound to be hugely popular but it isn't even close to the quality and longevity of FRWL, GF, TB, YOLT, WHATTIW, DAF, LALD, NBDIB & VTAK.

My point is it is great on the credits just on its own its nothing special, whereas as those songs above, the very fact they are remembered can be heard on the radio and still sound fantastic says it all for me.

No YKMN did not crack the charts but it really signalled a new Bond with a bang and Cornell knocks it out the park with Arnold, its a stormer of a tune and whenever I hear it on the credits or on its own it gives me goosebumps and I know I'm not on my own.

If they could come up with something like that for NTTD it would be great, something like The Arctic Monkeys. Though it is likely it will be something like Dua Lipa or god forbid Ed Sheeran.

Oh okay; that seems a strange turn of phrase for that to me but fair enough. I can’t agree at all and oddly it’s exactly what I think of YKMN! It works great in the film, opening the film and matching that title sequence so nicely, but listening to it on its own it always seems a bit flat and doesn’t really go anywhere: it never steps up a gear, just repeating itself. Skyfall is a much more fully formed song if you ask me, and it’s the one the new song has to beat.

I couldn't disagree more if I tried, SF to my ears is nothing remarkable, we hadn't had anything with such a rock edge since LALD.

YKMN stood out because it wasn't a ballad or dreary like TND or TWINE and to my ears it sounds great outside the credits but to each their own.

I seriously hope we don't get another maudlin ballad like SF or god forbid SP.

I don't really like Smith song to be honest although it's instrumental is quite good imo. SF on the other hand is different, it fits in the the film quite well and have been watching ever since I saw. Adele is bassey to our generation bond, that's why I think Adele should return and give a bombastic song this time(something akin to YKMN but better orchestrated).

I have a feeling the new song is a Guns N' Roses comeback tune.

The timing is right. They've just announced more dates for 2020 and their management has hinted at big plans for them next year. Most are assuming that means a new single and/or an album as studio sessions were all but officially confirmed. That said, I just don't see them getting the call. They could probably give us a nice answer to You Know My Name if given the opportunity.

I don't ever want Sam Smith actually singing in a Bond film ever again.
Write the song; okay. I really disliked his singing.

Anyway, it is interesting now as there seem to be no frontrunners at all.
Do we know who Cary enjoys listening to?
  • I want something different and daring. Not something that tries to emulate Shirley Bassey's originality in any way.

Something that's not under-lyriced like SF was.

Also, if the title is not mentioned in the song it will demonstrate that the creators paid more attention to quality rather than quantity. It won't help with marketing for neither the studios nor the artists to simply have the name of the song as the title in this digital age.
