Nice to have that out of the way: she seems to have a bit of substance to her unlike quite a few pop acts so I’m sure they’ve made a good choice, even if she’s not to my taste.

Amusingly she was 5 years old when Casino Royale was released

Firstly congratulations to @Pierce2Daniel in predicting the title artist and congratulations to @antovolk on the announcement. Well played fellas

I don't really have an opinion on Billie Eilish, I only know of her because my girlfriends little sister loves her, she always plays Eilish's CD in my car and honestly it's not my taste but I get why she was chosen by Eon. Eilish is a popular current artist, same with Adele and Sam Smith. So hopefully her song will do will and promote the film on both sides of the Atlantic.

I must admit even though I am reserving judgement on Eilish, I am a little disappointed reading the press release, about her it's a "powerful and moving song".
I was just hoping it would be a bit more of an up-tempo rock track to see out Craig's run instead of another ballad, especially when the last two were ballads. I really thought we had a chance of that happening as well, when you think that Cary's first Bond film was A View To A Kill, and Duran Duran's title song was probably one of the highlights of the film. I was hoping we'd get something along those lines.

But with that being said, I'm really relieved it's not Ed Sheeran and I'm reserving judgement. I trust the producers to make the right call

So outside the regular actors the only British principals involved in this film are:

    Purvis
    Wade

Will this movie have that Brotish Bond feel? Or will it be an American movie top to bottom? Cause for concern

    Not this again.

  • The beautiful thing about living in the past is that I have no clue who any of these young “artists” are these days. So I couldn’t be any more neutral on this topic.
If it were up to me I’d bring back someone like Shirley Bassey or Duran Duran or a-ha. I don’t even care if they’re over the hill or not. I’d still prefer them any day over whoever is the flavor of the month these days. But that’s just me. I know the producers don’t and won’t go for that. Oh well.

I would really like Eon to get another Artist to perform the End Credits song. So with Eilish's song, Zimmer can incorporate more songs into his score. I know....I can dream on....it's wishful thinking after all.

@JamesCraig why you send me a red button? Look I care only about the film really and what's in it then the song anyway.

Sting, perhaps? Wishful thinking on my part as well...

Let's hope Eilish's will at least be incorporated :P

But yeah, I like it when two songs are woven into the score (TLD had If There Was A Man, TB had Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, TWINE had Only Myself To Blame etc.)

After reading about her more today, I'm definitely interested to hear what she comes up with. I'm sure the song is finished. She wrote it with her brother.

I’m very pleased with the choice. I think Eilish has the potential to deliver a memorably different (in a good way) Bond song that should stand out on the next Best of Bond compilation album and I’m quite excited to see what we get now.

If Writing’s on the Wall can get to number 1 and win a Golden Globe and an Oscar then I’m pretty confident Eilish is in with a shot!

Then again I really liked Die Another Day ...

Indeed. Sting would be a good voice to wrap-up the Mayhem...sort of rain-after-the-sun.

Yeah, true. and TLD even had 3 songs in total....The pretenders 'Where has Everybody Gone?' as well. :)

I have never heard of Billie Eilish?

Edited: Just listened to some of her songs, not for me I am afraid. No doubt Billie will draw in a younger audience.

Maybe Zimmer can do a closing song and weave that into the score.

Never really heard any of her work. Hope she gives us a killer song. Bummed it wasn't Gaga.

Just listened to several of her tracks, Billie for the most part talks rather than sings, maybe it's my age though the music is mediocre IMO.

Not sure if i like her music, but from that sersion of Bad by Michael Jackson the girl has an absolutely incredible voice, even if i don't care for the contemporary slurry annunciation - but that's my age and I'm fine with that. Im sure there were some old farts who loved Matt Monroe who thought Aha were poor.

Yeah, i don't think she will sound entirely like her old self with the Bond theme....I think she knows what she's in for....even if she's just 18. And I don't think Adele's 'Someone like you' or Sam Smith's 'Stay with me' sounded Bondian...but they got the job done ....coz they knew they were working on a Bond song. So I think Eilish just did the same with her song....after all, wouldn't Eilish like to Top Adele's & Smith's effort?.

I think people here have been listening to the wrong Billie Eilish Songs.
I really don't like her music from 2019 and 2018. Horrible stuff.

But before that, when she was still finding her identity, she did some really solid, but maybe slightly more 'generic' music.

Here is some of that good stuff:
    1. This is a collaboration with some Khalid dude from 2017. Very Skyfall esque and could be used on its own for NTTD.

    2. Then we have this lovely tune here, from her first ep in 2017:

I think if you listen to this track alone, no one would doubt that she could be a great Bond singer. Listening to this i don't even miss Lana.

    3. Also i really like this simple but very catchy Pop tune. This Song put her on the map in 2016. She must have been 15-16 back then so don't get any ideas.
  • Billie has a very strong resemblance to Lea Seydoux. Could this be a factor? We already know they have cast a young Maddie... could this link in?

Does anyone know if the song will be weaved or woven into the score.

Being an old git I hadn’t heard of her, but I’m catching up fast on Amazon music. And I think she’s perfect. Her style will suit a contemporary Bond film without disrespecting the history of the franchise ( unlike Madonna). I may be wrong but I think she’s an inspired choice.

All I can say is my expectations are pretty low going in to this Bond film, so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I watch the film.

With the exception of the news of Zimmer doing the score, there hasn't been much that has excited me with this film.

    1) The trailer felt like this was going to be SPECTRE 2. More of the same from where we last left off. Great news if you loved SP, bad news if you were hoping for another CR.

    2) The interviews in Empire magazine with some of the actors sound just like every Bond film post Cubby - strong females up against Bond, personal angst for Bond (again), etc.

    3) The choice of artist for the song. I bet right here, right now, that this song will rival QoS and DAD as one of the worst songs of the franchise. The writings on the wall...

    4) I think its fairly obvious now that the unused Fleming books are still being untouched and ignored, instead opting for P&W to give us yet another `original' story that will rehash everything we've seen in the Brosnan and Craig era - lots of personal angst and female power struggles. Throw in the Aston Martin DB5 and retro gadgets for good measure.

A reboot with a new actor can't come quick enough for me. Its the one time EON throw out all the stops and try to revert back to basics again.

Like I said, my expectations are fairly low for this film, so I may be in for a surprise...

Hate to say it, but I feel pretty much the same. This is the only Bond film in my lifetime I'm not anticipating with that extra boost of adrenaline. I find myself rarely posting on the NTTD threads.
The idea of this film once again focusing on some emotional angst for Bond is like nails on a chalk board to me at this point. In addition I cannot deny the feeling that post NTTD we're getting an indefinite hiatus. Just a hunch.
Still, I'm hoping these bad vibes are laid to rest when we get the second trailer, or the song is released, or the film turns out as solid as CR.
