Well it was an exaggeration after all haha. Still, it would be among my most-watched films. Sure it has flaws, like any other film, but there's just a ton to like about it.

1000 kilograms, another exaggeration. But I agree, wonderful movie.

And now you guys have made me want to watch TDK again. (I've been listening to the score half the day, too, but that's irrelevant and I choose to blame you.)

I have 20+ other movies waiting for attention tho...

The Radioactive shower was great. The scene that had me laughing the most was the Old lady trolling Lloyd. Followed by Lloyd's dream. (Which my fine ears detected a sample of music from the FRWL videogame.)

When I saw it in the cinema, there were few people, but those who attended laughed hard, as did I and my son.

    <font color=#003300>DD's Kevin Smith Movie Retrospective</font>
    <font color=#334455 size=5><b>08</b>Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)</font>
    Zack_and_Miri_Make_a_Porno_52604_Medium.jpg

Clerks II was well enough received to pave more way for Kevin Smith and his filmmaking ambitions. No more Viewaskew and not even Jersey! Only Jason Mewes and Jeff Anderson return but not as Jay and Randal. Instead, Zack And Miri is a stand-alone sex comedy in which two completely broke housemates decide to get out of their financial trouble by producing their own porn flick. Easy, right? Well, perhaps a porno is not so easy to make after all.

Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are great as Zack and Miri. Rogen was becoming a big name around this time and may have been the main selling point for the film. Craig Robinson is hilarious. Amazingly enough, Smith unscrupulously brought in two real porn stars, Tracy Lords and Katie Morgan. While the former may have been out of the business for some time, the latter is still very much active in 2008. Morgan is very cute, especially with that Jennifer Tilly childlike voice. Justin Long and Brendan Rough have minor parts in this film but Long in particular leaves a lasting impression.

Kevin Smith making a film about some losers doing a porno makes perfect sense. And he doesn't hold back - no punt intended. The jokes are very much to the point, so expect the dirtier kind of comedy this time. Ever felt slightly offended by Smith in his previous films? This one raises (or is it lowers?) the bar significantly. There's even a pretty nasty scat joke in the film so some folks might not feel safe watching Zack And Miri. But because I can swallow Smith's material down so easily - what's with my clumsy choice of words? - I am very much into the mood of the movie. For me at least, this is genuine entertainment.

Yes, Zack And Miri Make A Porno is another winner for me. I can't help it; it's raunchy and silly but well acted and overall very entertaining. Too bad audiences weren't as into the film as the makers had hoped. I disagree it bombed but it wasn't a great hit either. This may explain why Smith's next project went in a completely new direction, but before we get there:

    The verdict

Zack And Miri Make A Porno (2008): 8,5/10
    Clerks II (2006): 8,5/10
    Jersey Girl (2004): 8/10
    Chasing Amy (1997): 7,5/10
    Dogma (1999): 7/10
    Clerks (1994): 7/10
Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (2001): 6/10
    Mallrats (1995): 4/10

Return of the Jedi My 2nd favorite Star Wars film behind episode V. The escape from Jabba the Hutt is epic, and so is the huge end battle with those little teddy bears (which are so loveable). Some emotional scenes like the end of Darth Vador and the party scene at the end with all the main heroes from the original films. A fitting end to one of my favorite trilogies. I can't wait for the new film at the end of this year.

Interstellar Just bought this on Bluray, was gripped throughout the film. Not fully taken the film in though left me with a sense of awe, very thought provoking film. One of the best science fiction movies I have seen in a long time.

I did want to see that at some point; honestly I wasn't a huge fan of Memento or Inception, but loved Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy and The Prestige. Have not seen Insomnia or Following, though.

And it looked beautiful - I had to go see it twice in theater.

I wanted to get the soundtrack right away, and it was not even available yet in October, damn... Have it by now, and love it.

I'm still kinda meh about Insomnia despite having seen it a couple of times.

    Following I haven't seen. :(

I'm probably the only person in the world who hasn't seen that film yet. It's just that everybody raves about it so much... it builds up such great expectations, it's almost inevitable that it'll be disappointing.

Actually one of my closest friends has seen both Begins and Rises, but not Dark Knight somehow. There's no doubt in my mind Ledger's Joker is my favorite screen villain ever. The movie holds some personal memories for me too.

Interstellar is indeed a beautiful film so I'm very thrilled to learn that the cinematographer will do the next Bond film.

    I rather like Insomnia though.

Following is a great little film but it has to be seen for the film it is, i.e. a very low-budget, black-and-white, clever but modest debut film.

I am now watching the Terminator series, to prepare for the 5th installement this summer. I also noticed I've never watched the 3rd one.

I started, evidently, with the 1984 outing. Much better than I remembered. I love the eerie feeling as most of the film is set in the night. So many cult scenes in this one, and Arnold is just legendary. I'd now rank it just a few notch below Judgment Day.

As I write this post I've just finished the 1991 sequel. One of my all time favorite films. An utter and total blast from start to finish. Arnold in this outing is so badass and cool that he reminded me of the 1960's Connery, pure testosterone on screen. The kid is also very good. If it was possible to rank a film 15/10, this film surely deserves it. The special effects also look great for a film that's now 24 years old.

I'm gonna continue with T3 ( for the first time) and Salvation tonight.

To me, part 3 just tries to be part 2 all over again. It literally brings nothing new to the story until the very end.
While trying to copy the success of one of the greatest sequels of ALL TIME is completely forgivable, what kills T3 for me is the piling on of stupid humor.

    ...You'll see.....

T1 all the way, T2 is a great blast but T1 is Cameron's best film for me and it's the only Terminator film where the Cyborg is terrifying, the premise is also horrific, a robot going around killing someone with the same name until they get to their target. Arnie has never been better because is very inability to be able to act is the film biggest strength.

Watched it most recently and the new Blu ray print is superb if anyone was wondering although the new HD 5.1 mix has caused some controversy.

T3 is utter junk and Terminator Salvation was just pointless, as for Gensys or whatever it's called, I'd rather poke my eyes out and than watch that.

There is not much point in seeing any film because other people do, or because other people rave about it. Just as it would make no sense to not watch something just because few others do, or because others don't like it. What matters is your personal interest for whatever reason you have it, or don't. If you're interested then you should watch, you're not then you shouldn't. I mean there is no obligation to even watch - and certainly even less to like, if one chooses to watch - something that is popular. Absolutely any movie may be a disappointment, so why fear disappointment, either. Some people actually detest that whole trilogy, you know. It's all a matter of opinion, anyway. But if you're not really interested, why bother.

Nolan's trilogy is such that many people who love the comics/comic book heroes in general or Batman in particular love it - and many hate it. And many people who have no general interest in comic books or comic book heroes in movies (such as me) love it, too... and I bet many of those people also don't, at all, if they ever even bother to watch. I don't know if I've ever loved any other movies based on comic book characters, and mostly find them kinda boring, so I was quite surprised... and I was not familiar with Nolan or Bale at the time Begins came out, so nothing to do with that (nowadays I'd watch absolutely anything either of them does, the first chance I got - so now I do have that bias, but then I did not). I just loved the movie. And then continued from there to the next ones. I love them more the more I watch them. But you might be bored out of your head, I have no idea.

There's plenty of stuff I still haven't seen that I kinda feel everyone else might have (not everyone ever has, of course). I haven't managed to generate any sort of interest for myself to watch Avatar or any Star Trek stuff (so far at least), but I have some interest in Rocky, so will probably see that some day. Etc. etc.

I recently decided to take a look at "the Marvel cinematic universe" (that sounds kind of amusingly grandiose), and intend to proceed chronologically... I'm curious and I'll see what I think. I like some of the actors, at least. But I'm not a comic book reader or generally a fan of superheroes at all, and I suspect I may have given up before the new films come out this year. I watched the 2nd installment, The Incredible Hulk last night - I've always liked Edward Norton and Tim Roth, so far so good... the rest of the cast: well, nothing interesting there... and Hulk and Abomination basically bored the heck out of me. So... Iron Man 2 and Thor next...

I think I must be TERMINATED because I enjoyed T3. :O I admit it's nowhere, absolutely nowhere near T1 and T2 but I was entertained. The car chase at the start with the huge tow truck was so ridiculous but I was cheering on my chair! And the plot, well, I found it interesting, the ending in particular. The start is forgettable and it really dies down in the middle but some of the 'explanation' moments I thought were really cool. However the special effects were better in T2 and seemed bad for a movie just over 10 years old.

    I am starting Salvation now.

Nah. It's all opinion. :) It's better for you that you enjoyed it than if you didn't, right, and I bet you weren't the only one. I've only seen it once and didn't like it, need to give it another go some time. I did like the others. Loved T2, actually. Still kinda pissed off the story from Salvation was not continued - with better script and director. I would have wanted to see that, but I have zero interest in Genisys, so it's bye bye to that franchise from me.
