I'm glad you like Thief. It really is a good film IMO. And Caan excels in it. Great score too!
;)
The original one, before the big G suffered badass decay. This one is dark and somber, with a very obvious anti-nukes message. Highly recommanded.
One thing, though : the only soldiers we see fighting Godzilla are Japanese. Wouldn't the US army and navy and air force be involved as well ? After all, there are still American bases in Japan, and even more so at the time, what with the Korean War having just ended. Funny, that.
Full of cliches, but the great cast makes it an enjoyable film nonetheless. Malkovitch is particularly funny here.
For those who wonder, RED stands for Retired, Extremely Dangerous.

Abigail Breslin is the last killer standing in Tyler Shields' photogenic thriller. Alexander Ludwig is the leader of a group of spoiled teenage friends who get their kicks from taking teenage girls into the forest and hunting them just for fun. They always catch and kill their victim, that is, until they make the fatal mistake of picking Veronica (Breslin) as their next intended victim.
When you watch the film, it's no surprise that the directors usual job is as a photographer, as there are so many shots that look like they're doubling as a photoshoot. I don't mean that as a criticism, far from it, Final Girl is a gorgeous looking film.
Less good than the first one (mainly because of the abandonment of the "Godzilla as a metaphor for nuclear weapons" theme of the first movie), but still good. We see what will become the template of the series for the rest of its existence, that is the big G fighting another monster (this time Anguirus, although how they could think that the ankilosaur was carnivorous I'll never know), and causing lots of damage in the process (this time to Osaka), while the japanese army is (almost) powerless. I have watched the original version, but I'm a bit afraid of watching the american version, given all I've heard about it.
Humour, action etc. Even has a couple of twists. ;)
Django - QT claims this to be a brilliant western, as a critic he knows his sh&t, as a moviemaker most of his movies lack rewatchability. This Nero movie does not have that defect.
My name is nobody - Henry Fonda & Terence Hill in a lovely quirky western with brilliant soundtrack, Nobody in fact does it better.
I loved this in the theater and still love it just as much on blu-ray. Probably the best film of 2015.
What do you mean?!?... probably :))
There, I fixed that for you.
I'm already deeming it the best film of 2015 for me, there's no way anything coming out this fall will beat it, no matter how excited I am for SP, 'The Revenant,' and 'The Hateful Eight.'
10,000 BC Another movie I didn't see in quite a while. It sure is loud and dumb (they seem to travel from Canada, to the Amazon forest, to the Sahara with no problem), but it is a feast for the eyes. Great locations and special effects, a fun way to spend 90 minute.
Mad Max: Fury Road. Instantly entered my top 10 all-time favorites, and I don't see another film being better this year. My heart is still pumping at 300 beats per minute despite having finished the movie 45 minutes ago.
My top 3 so far:
1. Mad Max: Fury Road
2. Ex Machina
3. Kingsman: The Secret Service
Hoping Spectre can at least make the top 3!
Those are the movies i am looking most forward to aswell, + Star Wars
Citizenfour (2014)
Fascinating, and very well done. This won the the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature this year. Now I'm interested in seeing what Oliver Stone's movie is like.
Survivor (2015) Another epic film! Very low budget feel but the film is a total blast! Brosnan is pure badass in this, and Jovovich is quite good too. Not the best thriller/action movie, but still a very fun way to spend 90 minutes.
Wild Card (2015) Again, I had loads of fun watching this. Statham is more talkative than usual, but still manages to destroy many bad guys. Fun story, lots of cool scenes (like when Statham is playing blackjack), great soundtrack, and Las Vegas is a very exciting location as always (however I never plan on going there in real life). Statham is very good in this, he shows he has plenty of acting chops, and not just fighting skills.
Maggie was a superb film. Great performances from Breslin and Big Arnie S.
Ex Machina (2015) Wow, just wow. One of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen, and will most likely end up in my top 3 films of 2015 once 'Spectre' is released. Oscar Isaac has to be one of the most talented actors in the business today. Splendid script, and wonderful cinematography. But the real star of this is Alicia Vikander. This is the first time I see her in a film, and she totally impressed me.
Nightcrawler (2014) Absolutely epic film! Epic story, wonderful atmosphere in the night of LA, similar to 'Collateral', and Jake Gyllenhaal gives the performance of a life time. One of the best movies of the decade so far. And the soundtrack was awesome.
St. Vincent (2014) Bill Murray makes everything awesome, and he does the job perfectly here. The movie is nothing new or groundbreaking, but the chemistry between Murray and the kid is so good, the film is a must-see. Epic soundtrack, great humour... I loved this film!
Gone Girl (2014) David Fincher strikes gold once more. After 'Zodiac' and 'Dragon Tattoo' I thought he reached the rarified atmosphere of the thriller genre, but here he just surpasses himself. This plot is just sick, twisted, gut-wrenching, and Rosamund Pike gives an Oscar-deserving performance. Ben Affleck was awesome in this too. I can't wait for Fincher's next work.
I've been meaning to check out Nightcrawler for some time now, and just thought about it again as I read your post. It's in my Netflix queue so it's only a matter of time until I get around to it.
I'll take this opportunity to vindicate three often forgotten Blake Edwards gems: The Notorious Landlady, What Did You Do In The War, Daddy? and, indulging in very personal choice, because I know it's a mediocre movie overall, but I love it:Blind Date.
