Ian Fleming did get in contact with Mr. Hitchcock in the late 50's to do a Bond film. If that was the case, we could have seen Cary Grant - a man I would love to see as Bond in the 50's - play Bond.
I'm so looking forward to it, I love a good journalist story and All The Presidents Men is the granddaddy of them all and Spotlight from what I've seen gives me that vibe, glad you enjoyed it.
The Bradlee clan certainly get well served in cinema, the legendary father Ben Bradlee essayed by the late great Jason Robards in ATPM & John Slattery as Bradlee Jnr in Spotight.
Those three movies probably have three of the greatest scores ever written.
I like it. In no way the best of the series, but what the hell it helps pass 90 minutes. :)
It was a lot better than T3 or Salvation.
I tried watching OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN this weekend as it was on tv, but oh boy. What a boring shitmovie, I turned it off halfway through.
Sharing a chat and a cigarette.! ;)
The new one (London Has Fallen) is not up to the job though.
Classic to me, and so damn good each and every time I watch it. Though I slightly prefer the first one, this one still takes the greatness that the original started and heightens the action and thrills.
No, it's both: a story set in the 70's that focuses on who he is, what made him the man he is today, and the love story (because the world is dying to know how John and Holly met...), while this story has ramifications for present-day John. The way it's discussed and described, it sounds like it'll be more of a prequel than a sequel.
And since they went with the overly wooden Jai Courtney for the fifth movie, I'm sure they'll pick someone equally uninspiring and untalented to play a young McClane. I'm sure Sam Worthington is available.
As for the love story on how McClane and Holly met, I can say that is most ridiculous. They could just get to the point in a sentence or two during a dialogue. Not stretch out an adventure with a "whole interesting story" on the meeting of the two lovers.
That said, I really had no problems with Jai Courtney as McClane Jr. Heaven forbid if they'll get the talentless Worthington anywhere near the franchise.
AHH! If only. I'm on an action movie kick today, so I'm now debating watching this yet again.
Just because CR had an origins story of sorts doesn't mean every movie out there should. At the time, the James Bond franchise was going on 40 years strong; that's not comparable to a series that overstayed its welcome with way too many sequels and now an unnecessary prequel nobody really wants or needs. The only wishful thinking I have for it is that it is definitely the last movie in the series.
Yes you @DaltonCraig007 @Creasy47 amongst others :))
and impeccable taste as well...and at that age...
I hit 40 and probably haven't seen half the movies you have :((
Or maybe I just spent too much time watching Barb Wire when I was circa your age :)) Especially the first 15 minutes of the Director's Cut, over and over and over and over again... :))
