    Notorious

An engaging thriller from Mr. Hitchcock. Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman star. Grant, the handler to Bergman's agent de provocateur[/i,] infiltrate a German spy ring in Rio, just after the war.

Superb. You wouldn't think someone running out of champagne at a party, would be this suspenseful.
    Indeed. A fascinating spy thriller!

And it is one of the major inspirations for the character of James Bond and the Casino Royale novel, according to the Fleming Estate. When I think about it, I do believe the Cary Grant suggestion to play Bond was a serious one.

Ian Fleming did get in contact with Mr. Hitchcock in the late 50's to do a Bond film. If that was the case, we could have seen Cary Grant - a man I would love to see as Bond in the 50's - play Bond.

SPOTLIGHT. Now my favorite film of 2015.

I'm so looking forward to it, I love a good journalist story and All The Presidents Men is the granddaddy of them all and Spotlight from what I've seen gives me that vibe, glad you enjoyed it.

The Bradlee clan certainly get well served in cinema, the legendary father Ben Bradlee essayed by the late great Jason Robards in ATPM & John Slattery as Bradlee Jnr in Spotight.

Raiders of the Lost Ark awesome film. Along with Empire Strikes Back and Wrath of Khan to me one of the greatest films of all time.

Those three movies probably have three of the greatest scores ever written.

Watched Terminator Genisys again. I know it's not much loved but I'm such an Arnie fan
I like it. In no way the best of the series, but what the hell it helps pass 90 minutes. :)

It was a lot better than T3 or Salvation.

I tried watching OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN this weekend as it was on tv, but oh boy. What a boring shitmovie, I turned it off halfway through.

What was particularly sad, I recall, was that it came out in 2013, the same year as the shame known as DH5. While Willis was destroying a legacy, Butler was showing how it should have been done, even if in a derivative way.

The new one (London Has Fallen) is not up to the job though.

Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) could very well be ending up as a villain. After all, Max Drummer (Harrison Ford) did say he was replaced due to things coming up in the third film.

Willis totally outclassed Arnie & Sly in Expendables 2 (in their brief scenes together). Effortless humour and charisma. I wondered, where was that spark in DH5? He definitely still has it, if he wants to bring it.

    'Terminator 2: Judgment Day'

Classic to me, and so damn good each and every time I watch it. Though I slightly prefer the first one, this one still takes the greatness that the original started and heightens the action and thrills.

You probably would've known this, but Die Hard: Year One is actually being adapted, and Bruce Willis will actually be reprising his role as John McClane. Rumour has it there's a story within a story for the next film, where we'll be seeing a young rookie McClane from the 1970s, as well.

The new 'Die Hard' sounds so awful. A few years ago, it was rumored that the last movie would be John going to the Nakatomi HQ overseas for the anniversary of the events from the first movie, where he would be attacked and trapped in a skyscraper again. Thought that was a wonderful idea, but instead, we get another generic prequel nobody asked for. He's a beat cop who enjoys alcohol and has a family, what insane backstory could there possibly be to tell? He's shaped by the events and actions of the first movie on, so what is it that happens in his backstory that could be any bigger than what we've seen thus far? I'm sure it'll be worse than the fifth installment somehow, another cash-grab for Willis.

No, @Creasy47, it won't be a prequel. It will have events that take place in the present day which is believed to be connected to his first year as an NYPD cop.

No, it's both: a story set in the 70's that focuses on who he is, what made him the man he is today, and the love story (because the world is dying to know how John and Holly met...), while this story has ramifications for present-day John. The way it's discussed and described, it sounds like it'll be more of a prequel than a sequel.

And since they went with the overly wooden Jai Courtney for the fifth movie, I'm sure they'll pick someone equally uninspiring and untalented to play a young McClane. I'm sure Sam Worthington is available.

I do see your point and I very much agree with you. But, we'd come to this eventually: Bond had origins in Casino Royale and nobody had a complaint, the film that is. So, I am sure if handled properly as in the comic (or better for their sake), this Year One story will be rather good. I do hope, though, as Willis is fit enough to be an action man figure, they can use computer generated imagery to de-age him the way they did to Michael Douglas in Ant-Man. That way, the character wouldn't be in need of a recasting.

As for the love story on how McClane and Holly met, I can say that is most ridiculous. They could just get to the point in a sentence or two during a dialogue. Not stretch out an adventure with a "whole interesting story" on the meeting of the two lovers.

That said, I really had no problems with Jai Courtney as McClane Jr. Heaven forbid if they'll get the talentless Worthington anywhere near the franchise.

The only prequel I'd be interested is the famous 'impossible task' mentioned in John Wick, including the 'he killed a man with a f*cking pencil'.

Oh for pete's sake! I hope somebody comes to their senses before another one of the greatest franchises of the 20th Century is destroyed for good (Cortney has already put the nail in the coffin of the Terminator franchise).

@bondjames and @Creasy47 let's hope Bruce Willis will be nominated for 'Best supporting actor' at the oscars in about 10 years time in 'GRUBER', if you get the reference to another classic franchise. ;)

AHH! If only. I'm on an action movie kick today, so I'm now debating watching this yet again.

Just because CR had an origins story of sorts doesn't mean every movie out there should. At the time, the James Bond franchise was going on 40 years strong; that's not comparable to a series that overstayed its welcome with way too many sequels and now an unnecessary prequel nobody really wants or needs. The only wishful thinking I have for it is that it is definitely the last movie in the series.

@Creasy47 I've seen 'John Wick' 3 times in the last 10 days, so I can only suggest you to watch it tonight. As with QOS the film seems to go by faster and faster each time I rewatch it.

@DaltonCraig007, I guess I'll have to, then! Decided to finally get around to watching 'Youth' as we speak, so maybe I'll follow it up with something as purely action-driven as 'John Wick' next.

There are some serious movie buffs here.

    Yes you @DaltonCraig007 @Creasy47 amongst others :))

and impeccable taste as well...and at that age...

I hit 40 and probably haven't seen half the movies you have :((

Or maybe I just spent too much time watching Barb Wire when I was circa your age :)) Especially the first 15 minutes of the Director's Cut, over and over and over and over again... :))

While we're both self-titled action aficionados, I'm into all genres and years of film, from Bergman and Hitchcock to Tarantino and Fincher.
