Seeing The Truman Show (1998) for the second time. Love this film; I consider it Jim Carrey's best, or at least the best I've seen. Probably my favorite.

Jonah Hex, I know this was a flop and got plenty of bad reviews but I quite
Liked it. Then again I also liked The wild, wild west. :)

Jonah Hex is fine. It's a DC comic book film and for me it captures the essence of the comics well enough.
    I actually love that movie!

Trancers - I remember first time I watched this on the excellent Moviedrome presented by director Alex Cox. The show presented cult classic films of the time, Trancers is one I had recorded on VHS which I played to deth. First time I have owned Trancers since my video copy. This film really is great, and with a few picture tweaks looks ok in HD despite what appears to be no treatment. Love how random the Trancers are, Thomerson is a legend in this, 'dry hair is for squids' love it so quotable this film. Whistler is a great villain and the time freeze tops anything quicksilver did =)). Helen Hunt in this... :x

    Maggie

Arnie stars as a father who's daughter has been infected during a zombie apocalypse. Though still not great, this was actually better than I was expecting it to be, largely due to the excellent performance of the daughter (Abigail Brestin).

To be honest, I'm surprised M. Night Shyamalan hasn't made this film already as the story seemed to be the sort of thing he would have liked.

Star Wars The Force Awakens (2015

No it's not perfect and I'm not a fan of the sequence that wastes the cast of The Raid but the rest is hugely enjoyable and it's my 2nd watch, seems a long time since my cinema viewing, enough hairs on the back of my neck moments once again.

There is nothing quite like Star Wars it's unique bring on Rogue One & Episode VIII.

@Shardlake, thought I was the only one, they were terribly underused. I thought they'd appear as the Knights alongside Kylo. However, I think the only cast member from 'The Raid' films that bites the dust is The Assassin from 'The Raid 2,' so I suppose it's possible, albeit highly unlikely, that their characters would return.

I just saw it too. It's the best CG work I have seen. (It just keeps getting better.) A couple of kids near me kept asking their parents how they trained the animals to do this and that.
Yes, I keep thinking back that if they did this like 20 years or even 10 years ago, those animals wouldn't have looked good. They really captured their "mannerism", like Bageerha ears flicking back here and there, and Baloo's bear stance. The animators did a good job keeping the animals true to themselves.

It just felt like a gimick using them, big fan of both Raid 1 & 2 and can't wait for the concluding part of the trilogy when Evans gets round to it.

Raid 1 was one of the most exhausting and intense experiences I've ever had in a cinema, 2 I like as much but more of a sprawling crime epic with incredible set pieces, R1 was relentless.

The Losers, a fun action film, more like watching the A Team ( the series, not the movie)
a good mix of humour and action.

I have it, but I'm yet to watch it. Funny you mention it, as I used to confuse it with The A-Team the movie when they came out around the same time.

The Philadelphia Story (1940). Pretty good film; features some great classical actors with great chemistry.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Ok, first time watch for me and I was very optimistic that this was gonna be great. I enjoyed it but I didn't think it was brilliant as some reviews have made out. Its much better than the prequel trilogy but it's not better than any of the original trilogy. Great to see Ford, Fisher et al back. The new cast were decent enough, although I did think Daisy Ridley quite wooden at times but I'm sure that, now she's had this experience, I'm sure she'll improve in future movies.

I'm hoping more original ideas get thrown in the future movies as well. I liked TFA, but if the entire trilogy is going to be recycling former movies, then I think that's some points that need to be deducted.

I've started going through the MCU films before the release of 'Captain America: Civil War' next week.

    First off: Iron Man (2008).
Spectacular film. Starts off straight away with Robert Downey Jr acting like a total legend, and he manages to stay at this level for the entire film. Some great action scenes - the escape from the cave, attack of the village and final battle - all featuring a badass RDJ. Gwyneth Paltrow is a major eye candy, and Jeff Bridges always is a pleasure to watch. It has to be about the 10th time I've seen the film, and it still remains very rewatchable.

    The Incredible Hulk (2008).
Now this is a strange film for me, because I saw 'Avengers' before this, so Mark Ruffalo was my first Hulk. But, Edward Norton delivers a stellar performance as always. Tim Roth and William Hurt spend the film chewing up the scenery like they always do. The action scenes are again intense here - the chase in Brazil, and the battle in the university in particular. However the final battle sequence is less interesting, despite endless explosions, so my mind wanders off for a few seconds here and there.

I'll continue with 'Iron Man 2' tonight.

I liked it and rank it better than RotJ, which I found a bit ridiculous. Star Wars (77) and TESB are by far the two best films in the series. But TFA is good. I actually liked Daisy Ridley a lot and am excited to see what she can do in Ep VIII.

It's taken me a good decade to get around to them, but finally, I've started out Richard Linklater's romantic trilogy with 'Before Sunrise,' which is one of the best romantic films I've ever seen. Itching to see the next two now, given that they're as critically loved and hailed as the first one is. Very enjoyable.

Just back from watching Eye In The Sky. I recommend this movie to all. Very tense movie, emotional and great performances from Alan Rickman (RIP), Helen Mirren and the whole cast. Brilliant and thought provoking.

Ok, fair enough, it may give ROTJ a run for its money and it was pretty fun. I'm just not convinced by Ridley yet but I'm sure, now she's got the experience, she'll be great. May even just be me and on further viewings I could change how I feel about it (second viewings are always welcome).

    Iron Man 2 (2010)
More action and more humour than the first film, but a bit less enjoyable. Scarlett Johansson is a great addition, especially when she's in her black outfit and kicking some major ass. Rourke is a chilling yet campy villain ('I want my burd'). Sam Rockwell hams it up but he's an actor I've always liked. I really enjoy the sequence in Monaco, being a motorsports fan. The final battle has some great moments of badassery from Downey Jr and Don Cheadle. Any soundtrack with some AC/DC is a good one in my book.

    Thor (2011)
Gorgeous film to look at. Great special effects with lots of colours everywhere lighting up the screen. Hemsworth is a bit wooden but still quite the badass. The real man of the show is Hiddleston as Loki, one of the most likeable villains I know of. Always a pleasure to see Hopkins and Skarskgard, and of course Elba and Ray Stevenson in small roles). Some great action scenes: the attack of the frosty planet and Thor taking down the SHIELD guards while trying to retrieve his hammer.

Tomorrow I'll continue with 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.

I prefer the latter 2. Before Sunset is my favourite.

Thrilling, the cast (especially Grant) shines as always, and it's one of the most exciting entries of Hitchcock's.

I have the 50th Anniversary Bluray release, this film stands up incredibly well. A genuine precursor to Bond, Herman thunderous score is classic everything about this film is classic.

My favourite film of all time, and not only because it's clear how influential it was to my favourite franchise of all time.

@Creasy47, I'm almost certain it influenced the Bourne franchise as well, at least on the musical front, because John Powell's score for that film has elements that distinctly mimic Bernard Hermann's score, and coincidentally also in a film about a man on the run with identity issues.
