Since nobody uses the cinema thread any longer, just got back from seeing 'The Jungle Book,' and it blew me away. Excellent movie, and never in a million years did I think I'd be so impressed with CGI; typically, it's found on my 'Con' list when critiquing a movie.

Just watched Mr. Right (2015) with Sam Rockwell as the titular character, co-starring Anna Kendrick and Tim Roth. How can I describe the film? It's a lot better Deadpool movie than Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. It's exactly how @BondJasonBond006 made a comparison of Batman v Superman and Civil War. Fun film. Mindless. But, it's a good comedy.

I saw scenes from it and yes it's very impressive stuff,
    BUT
it works because of the nature of the material.
I'm worried that this will be employed more and more now in non-fanciful movies...
    :-?

@chrisisall, do you mean you're worried about more CG being utilized overall?

Yeah, why film in any particular city anymore when you can just create it in CG?
Imagine Taxi Driver or Annie Hall made today with the actors doing theirs thing on a green screen stage... no matter the artistic expertise involved, they would NOT be the same movies.

"Ooooo, didn't Manhattan look so REAL???"
Take me out of a movie, why don'tcha?

    Civil War

Just out the cinema now off to the bar.

What an unbelievably great past year!

    Mad Max Fury Road
    Spectre
    Civil War

All three are cinematic perfection to me.

Something not many movies have achieved. Certainly never 3 within one year.

It works very well for a given film. Hell, ANY CGI that is used for something that couldn't be done practically is alright in my book. My issue is bad CGI, especially when I'm scratching my head over why they used it instead of taking a more practical route.

    CAPTAIN AMERICA-CIVIL WAR

Marvel and the Russo Brothers deliver yet again.Glad they didn t follow the comic book storyline, though.

There were a lot of little boys in the theatre, not a single little girl. (But one very old woman, strangely.)

Conversation between three teenage brats in front of me, before the film started:

Brat1: Which is your favourite character?
    Brat2: Captain America!
Brat3: Thor! He is a god.
Brat1: Spiderman is the coolest. He can beat up both of them at the same time.

Then the X-Men trailer comes on.

Brat1: Spiderman is in the X-Men!
    Brat2 and Brat3: No, he isn t!
Brat1: Look, I think I honestly know a lot more about superheroes than the two of you. I watched Cartoon Network when I was a kid. Spiderman is definitely a member of the X-Men.

So in Norway little kids are allowed into CW??!
Here it's strictly age 12 limit and also only if accompanied by an adult.

Here it is 12, but younger kids are allowed if accompanied by an adult. All the little boys were in the company of their father, it seemed.

Here, it's unrated. And there were children in the theater today when I saw it. Great movie, by the way. So many great things inside. Oh, and if you left before the end titles were over... Sucks to be you.

About half the theatre left during my showing, while the other half waited for that little scene we have come to expect.

Are there one or two post-credits scenes?

Two. One in the middle, one at the end. Don't miss them.

So did I, simply because the attendant said there was no extra bit anymore. I hope he dies in horrible pain.

Me, too.Anyway, from Captain America to
    CAPTAIN PHILIPS

Tom Hanks and everyone else are excellent in this film about a ship that gets hijacked off the coast of Somalia. Then Cap gets kidnapped. Based on true events.

He looks a bit like Gael monfils, maybe he could play him in a biopic. That would be a change of pace, at least.

He's a great, distinctive actor. If we were ever to have Blofeld as an African war lord, this is the guy.

    The Jungle Book (2016).

Now I know why even @Creasy47 loved the film. The CGI is absolutely mindblowing. I kept asking to myself if some of it was filmed 'for real' as some of the shots were too good to be done with computers. My oh my did special effects go a long way in the past few years. This will definately be in my top 10 at the end of the year. Simply spectacular!

My next trip in the cinema will be this wednesday to see Kevin Costner be a proper badass in 'Criminal'.

Well a lot is coming our way this year, so I don't dare to say this or that will be a definite Top 10, except Civil War, which will be hard to beat.
Only Star Trek Beyond could be better (for me) I guess.

We'll see. In the mean time I have watched Civil War a fifth time, in 2D again.
The Dolby Atmos is the best invention since talking movies :))
It blows you away, literally. You can FEEL the movie.
I need that at home, asap! :))
