I haven't seen Witchfinder General, but I agree on Theatre Of Blood. Any love for The Oblong Box?
Hatchet 2 (2010)
If you go down to the swamp today, you're sure to have a surprise, because Victor Crowley is waiting with a fresh list of over the top kills.

(Makes me want to read Live and Let Die...)
Let me put this as simply as I can. Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett & Rebecca Ferguson. Nuff said.
Oh, and Luke Evans and Edgar Ramirez, for those so inclined.
It lived up to expectations. This year's Gone Girl, but with a little more female (girl power) bent. Suspenseful, with a powerhouse performance from Blunt. She gets better with every film I see her in (like Jake Gyllenhaal does). Ferguson is incredible as well (almost unrecognizable from her action girl MI-RN performance with different hair and a completely American accent), although she has a smaller part. Bennett has this look to her which you know you've seen before but can't put your finger on it - she's like an amalgam of several sexy actresses in one.
It's basically a whodunnit with a twist and lots of female life expectations/experience thrown in (for that read 'melodrama'). Once again, I'm glad I went in 'blind' without expectations (I've not read Paula Hawkins book).
Much better than its current RT rating (for Blunt and Ferguson alone). Recommended!
It's great to have a film festival in your home town.
Finally embarking on a journey to the past (my early childhood, the 80's) with Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
The first one is a classic. With all the elements that work so well, it doesn't even matter that most of the special effects look somewhat dated. I wouldn't want it any other way.
They are classic.
The cast is just a stroke of genius. Harold Ramis will never be forgotten. Not only does he bring something valuable to the character department of GB but also he has written a good part of the script with Dan.
Sigourney Weaver looks smashing in GB and even Rick Moranis is lovable even when he turns to the bad side.
Also worth a mention: The 2014 Blu-ray release with a ton of special features and some newly produced ones including a marvelous interview surrounded by GB memorabilia with Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman.
Ghostbusters II will hit the Jason Theatre tomorrow.
Both films are about 90 minutes long, and are non-stop action from start to finish. You can count the 'quiet' scenes in both films with your 10 fingers, they're just so action packed. Clive Owen is a total legend in 'Shoot 'Em Up', killing tons of guys with a variety guns and his carrots. Lots of humour, and and a very sexyful Monica Belluci. As for 'Hardcore Henry', it's probably the most insane action film I've ever seen - all filmed from the first-person view of the main character as he kills over 200 bad guys. Sharlto Copley plays one of the most badass and likeable ally I've ever seen. A total blast from start to finish, but not for the faint of heart - massive shaky-cam during endless succession of fights/chases. Very good soundtrack too - especially the 'Don't Stop Me Now' from Queen and the Mag
I love that film. Masterpiece.
It's the first time I have seen it since I watched it on vhs, the film has breathtaking visuals it looks like it was made yesterday. David Lean was a master.
.
I have a renewed appreciation for the film, it's an amazing achievement in cinema
I didn't really much care for it otherwise, but it certainly is very beautifully shot.
How I feel.
Low budget British horror. A group of young offenders are send to an island for character building, but are stalked by an ex-squadie.
The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Miss Osbourne (1981)
.... what in gods name did I watch? Without going to much into the story, i'll sum up Mr Hyde as thus: a bi-sexual, paedophile, sex fiend. Approach with extreme, EXTREME, caution.

There is something wonderfully comforting about these 80s icons. It was not well received by the critics , but compared to Michael Bay's blockbusters etc, Rocky 4 is pure class. The music and editing bring an excitement and feeling that means you are happy to overlook its obvious faults. And the pure pace (its a short movie) means there is no time to over think this movie. Stalone wrote and directed..he does not get the credit her deserves from critics.
Rocky 4 is the worst of the lot. You don t honestly enjoy it, do you?
Editing, photography, music....I have seen much worse. I love the Rocky training montages.
