Fantastic film. I was really impressed by this one.
I love Italian.
Spock didn’t. At least inititally.
I love The Voyage Home. It's occasionally my favorite between it and Wrath of Khan. It's the ultimate feel good Star Trek movie and I agree with you about V. I find it to be pretty underrated.
I love The Motion Picture though the uniforms at times are very bland
I've only seen the first Thor film, and the first Avengers, so I must ask: is Hemsworth's Thor's sporting a different look in this film? He has had the beard the whole time, but the comic Thor was clean shaven with long blond hair? If this were the first Thor outing, just by looking at him I'd assume he was miscast.
I need to see more of the Marvel films. I've lost touch the past few years.
Pretty great stuff.
One of my favorites! Love Bela Lugosi and this one is probably my favorite Edward D Wood film.
Lugosi and Johnson make a riveting duo. Could have made several films with those characters.
DAVID LYNCH: THE ART LIFE
Pretty good insight into what shaped Lynch, one of the most original moviemakers over the last 40 years.
I'll definitely watch this at some point, love Lynch's work
Favourites of mine so far are Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.
I liked some of it, but I doubt I will watch it again anytime soon. It's very odd, and certainly unique, but it just isn't my cup of tea most of the time. The rabbit-humans were cool.
Just got back. I hadn’t read any reviews going in, but knew that the film had a horrid RT rating of 40% so wasn’t expecting much. To put my thoughts in context, I wasn’t as offended by BvS as some others, but didn’t think it was all that great either (I preferred it to MoS). SS was mindless fun and WW was alright, but I didn’t like it as much as others did either (I personally thought that it benefited from very low expectations).
So, my opinion? Well, I think the critics are being unduly harsh. Sure, this film doesn’t move the needle in any way shape or form and is very predictable and overall quite forgettable. However, it’s not bad either. The positives are that it moves at a brisk clip (& the 2 hr length is just about right) and it’s not as sombre as BvS. There is a lighter overall touch here and the mood is brighter. The negatives are that it’s really quite difficult to care about/invest in the characters as described and depicted. I feel almost as though we are supposed to like them because of who they are in comic folklore, rather than as a result of how they have been fleshed out by DC here. Strangely, it works for the most part because the actors they have cast are reasonably charismatic, but there is an underlying emptiness to it as a result. A sort of by the numbers assembly line feeling. This is not something I feel with the competing Marvel product, which has more character weightiness to me. The villain is your normal forgettable CGI created character with even more bland and nameless minions coming out of some wormhole (they all seem the same these days) .
In terms of the actors, Gal Gadot stands out as the statuesque Wonder Woman, AKA Diana Prince. Gadot is very easy on the eyes and has a physical presence and stoicism which helps to sell the character even in a crowded ensemble piece. Jason Momoa is also impressive as Arthur Curry, AKA Aquaman, adding a bit of wry humour to the proceedings. Unfortunately, I wasn’t all that impressed by Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/Flash. His comedic act wore a bit thin for me, although he wasn’t terrible. Ray Fisher didn't make an impression as Cyborg, but it's perhaps difficult to resonate when you're part machine. The real surprise here is Henry Cavill, who owns it as Supes. He is not in the film much, but when he is the film is the better for it. After moping about for most of BvS (and MoS as I recall), here he has a certain levity which I enjoyed and which reminded me of the comic books I read as a kid. Finally we come to Affleck as Batman/Wayne. I’m afraid I don’t have much positive to say about him. I’m not sold on his interpretation, and although he’s also much better here than he was in BvS, there’s something about his Caped Crusader alter ego that just doesn’t work for me. I don’t hate him, but I just find him 'meh'.
So in conclusion it’s not a bad way to spend a few hours, but don’t expect to remember much about it afterwards either. It’s a decidedly middling film, and reminds me of the X-Men or earlier Thor entries rather than the blockbuster Avengers from Marvel. I have no desire to view it in the theatre again, but will probably pick it up on blu once it goes on sale. RT rating should be closer to 60% (SP levels).
EDIT: I wanted to add that I quite liked Elfman's score. While not up to the level of his past superhero efforts it sounded fresh to me in comparison to the now predictable Zimmer drone.
I avoided any reviews but I did hear so far they were mixed but nothing stellar. Which I was honestly expecting from critics. There are people who truly hate the film but half of those people only want to hate it.
First of all I don't hate any of the DCEU movies like so many others do (yes, I enjoyed BVS and SS). I will say that this is the first "fun" film in the DCEU but it's probably not the best of them. Had The Avengers never been made, people probably would've lost their minds over this film. But since the MCU does exist, JJ is going to be compared to it and JJ isn't going to be the better film.
The CGI didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I suppose it's because I was expecting it to be bad. Thor: Ragnarok on the other hand had noticeably bad CGI and it took me out of the movie.
I went in for Batman and Wonder Woman but stayed for Aqua Man and Cyborg. Aqua Man was a bad ass and had the funniest moment of the movie...
For those of you who haven't seen it yet, stay during and after the credits. Apparently they are now doing what the MCU is doing with after credits scenes.
Every year I hit a film (this case a tv show episode) last year was Casino Royale 1967 now I hit Good Knight MacGyver a lot of behind the scene stuff of Season 7 (from what I hear) is that the writers were running out of ideas for inventive Macgyverism and ideas for episodes which when looking at season 1 and even season 2 of the reboot while 50% is reworking older ideas and 25% could only be done now still 25% of the ideas could of been done but whatever lets get through this
MacGyver is knocked unconscious and thrown back to the 7th century and I don't care it's a bad episode but it's a two-parter so in the retrospective it goes
Let's talk about what little positives there are
1. the acting is ok
2. the music is good
3. Some of the macgyverisms are ok
Negatives
1. EVERYTHING ELSE...
the plot is stupid and this is just god awful and a reason why many hate MacGyver.. I will barely put it above National Lampoons Vacation

Up next Justice League and then a good MacGyver tv movies Lost treasure of Atlantis.
Finally got to watch this. Words fail me, I thought it was a lot of fun. One of the most entertaining documentaries I've seen in quite a long time. Loved the bit about filming the gunbarrel!
It gives me no pleasure to say this, but few films have disappointed me like this one. I will always defend JEEPERS CREEPERS and JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 as two classics in their genre, creepy and almost Lovecraftian, the stuff that a child's nightmares are made of. Darkness plays a crucial part in these two films, as it allows shadows and artificial lights to play tricks on us, revealing the Creeper when we least expect it.
Fourteen years since the second movie, Jeepers Creepers is back for more. Victor Salva has written and directed all three of the Creeper movies, so at least in that sense, continuity was never an issue. Yet Salva himself seems willing to abandon continuity in almost every other department, making all three films in the series completely different in terms of cast, tone and setting. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, except when even the bare essentials of a Creeper film are absent. I will concede that with only two preceding films it's almost impossible to compile a list of "essential elements", but when a film feels vastly different from the former two, you know that something was lost.
For starters, I suspect that Salva wanted to introduce some morbid comedy to his Creeper series. Several shots look like they were not meant to scare but to make us chuckle. The Creeper himself is often "un-creeped" by strange facial expressions and weird camera positions. Also, this Creeper is more like the Terminator, using some pretty sophisticated tools like long-range torpedoes and heavy artillery when pursuing his prey. His human targets are unpleasant to look at and uninteresting to follow around, a farcry from the days when Justin Long and Gina Philips had to run like mad to escape the Creeper. Most of the action takes place in full daylight, which is about the worst possible setting for a Creeper film if you ask me. Things don't get so creepy when the sunlight is still on. Jumping left and right, the film lacks every sense of cohesion, logic and narrative flow. It's almost uncomfortable to sit through this film because people are yelling and growling and you don't know why, stories get mixed up with no effort to preserve some kind of overall continuity and the film just looks ulgy - period. With the music and one or two cameos as this film's only saving graces, you know that something's wrong.
I'm a fan of JEEPERS CREEPERS, and yet I reject this third film. After 14 years of patience, I feel even more let down by Salva's latest effort. A good Creepers film should be easy to produce, even on a low budget. With an interesting evil, a nocturnal setting, and two frightened characters or even a bus full of frightened meat, the first two films pulled it off so cleverly. The third film; not at all.
The Troubles in Belfast in the 1970s is a bit of history I know relatively little about. Always wanting to learn more, a friend of mine suggested I watch this movie. And I'm glad I did. At a loss for words, I must admit. The film grabbed me.
Didn’t mind BVS, it wasn’t great but it wasn’t awful either. This film is probably a little worse as the villain is pretty awful and it is all around quite boring for a 2 hour film. Batman doesn’t do anything, cyborg is shit, Superman is pretty awesome though not in it much. Wonder Woman is fine and the flash is pretty awesome, however the villain and the villains army are pretty garbage and the plot is all over the place. It’s probably better than suicide squad but not better than BVS.
3/10
(BVS is a 5/10 for me)
and
( Suicide squad is a 2/10)
With my recent less than stellar opinion of Thor ragnarok as well, I think I’m getting super hero fatigue. Not gonna be seeing black panther or cyborg or aqua man or any of that, and I consider myself a super hero fan but I’m just tired of all of these. Looking forward to infinity war though.
