    Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974)

Before Blade there was this dashing fellow. An unusual Hammer film mixing age stealing vampires with swordplay.

Cheesy and corny, yes, but great entertainment, written and directed by Brian Clemens creator of TV's The Professionals.

Swashbuckling stuff with a really cool score from Laurie Anderson. Apparently Tarantino is a fan.

Definitely don't make em' like this anymore.

Never heard of this film surprisingly, though love the title.

Check it out! Think it's only available on DVD. But you can watch the whole thing on YouTube.

Will do I have watched the majority of Hammer films, is it in The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires ball park?

LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES has more of a kung fu movie vibe whereas CAPTAIN KRONOS is more of a swaskbuckler.

Mission: Impossible (1996). First time watching this, or any of the MI films. Quite enjoyed it! I will definitely be continuing through the series.

Take into note that the second and the third films lack in quality. But, watch them regardless.

Bit of a heads-up, the second film is a cliched John Woo actioner (you can imagine the type), while the third is a sappy poor man's 24/Jason Bourne melodrama.

Ghost Protocol and onward, however, it kicks off, again.

I’ll keep that in mind. I usually hear the latest 3 are the best ones, but I did like 1 an awful lot. I’ll set my expectations lower for the next two anyway. I love Bond and didn’t care for Bourne, so I didn’t know what to expect going into MI, but so far so good.

If it wasn't for that awful Jim Phelps stunt, the first film would've been my favourite. The Prague segment is something I want to see in a Bond film. Bit of a horror and spy thriller mixed into one.

Enjoy @FoxRox. They are absolutely top notch action film making. 1, 4,5, & 6 are my personal faves as well, but I think there's something to enjoy in all of them.

    My current MI: rating...

    1
    6
    4
    5
    3
    2

Though just finished watching 6 an hour ago for fourth time I love this film, may get top at some point.

Interesting 3 being your worst, though it is admittedly generic. I was a fan of Woo back in the day, 2 is terrible though highly amusing.

2 is exactly that. Terrible but highly amusing. 3 is just downright terrible. It's got all the packages I hate about films.

I like the villain in 3 which nudges it ahead of 2, though the slow mo scarf catching shots etc are hilarious in 2.

Also 2 being a obvious remake ripoff of Notorious I found jarring though mildly amusing.

I don't disagree with any of those.

And yes, 2 was a very obvious remake of Notorious. The Woo-ism is the only instrument that pushes the film down for me. Otherwise, the plot is very solid.

3 on the other hand had a villain with presence, but nothing beyond that. Its awful sappy melodrama overrides the great villain element in my book.

    Thank you.

Already got to see Mission: Impossible II (2000). Certainly felt it was a lot less good than the first. The slo-mo overkill was seriously distracting, and it definitely had too much melodrama. I preferred pretty much everything about the first one to be honest - characters, acting, action, story, music, etc. 2 isn’t a total loss, but it certainly is a flawed action flick. I liked the first half better than the second half for sure. Glad they brought Luther back.

Absolutely, one of my favourite Hammers. Much like Dracula AD 1972, it’s cheesy but oh so entertaining. And they both feature Caroline Munro.

Mission: Impossible III (2006). Significant improvement over II, but still not quite as good as the first. Philip Seymour Hoffman was definitely the biggest highlight. Decent film. So far, 1 > 3 > 2. I look forward to the next 3; it’s been a fun binge watch so far.

Glad you enjoyed it. A lot of people here don't like it but I enjoy the third film quite a bit.
