The Family Corleone is exceptional. If you didn't read the cover, you'd think Mario Puzo himself wrote it. The other two Godfather novels (Returns and Revenge) aren't terrible, but they feel like they're sort of tacked on. The Godfather's Revenge, in particular, never feels as though it adds anything and merely feels like a checklist of "here's what happened to everybody who wasn't in The Godfather Part III" than its own beast.
Interesting film that doesn't quite come off.
Jack Nicholson is excellent as the retired detective who promises the mother of a murdered child that he will find the killer.
An impressive cast including Benicio Del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Sean Wright Penn and Helen Mirren.
Directed by Sean Penn this is a haunting film and for all its flaws worth a look.
What do I need to say this film is perfect. It’s my favorite film of all time and it’s just perfect absolutely perfect

BRIGHTBURN
A spaceship lands in Kansas near the house of the Kents Breyers. There's a baby on board which the Breyers immediately adopt as their own. For a while, all goes well, but when young Brandon hits puberty, he begins to discover he has superpowers. He can fly, move faster than a speeding bullet, leap over tall buildings and shoot red light from his eyes. So what does one expect Brandon to do? Find his Fortress of Solitude?
Could have been, except that this film is a dark subversion of the Superman mythos, told as a typical slasher with supernatural elements. Director David Yarovesky and producers James Gunn and Kenneth Huang deliver a neat horror flick that tries to cleverly deconstruct the superhero genre but instead caters more to those seeking cheap thrills. BRIGHTBURN is not a bad way to spend 90 minutes but by the same token doesn't fully deliver on its promise either.
Blinded By The Light, a great little feel good movie based on true events, set during 1987/8 and follows a Pakistani would-be writer in sixth form who gets introduced to the music of Bruce Springsteen by a fellow student, which changes his world. Being a fan of The Boss, I had to see this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Brings back memories of that time vividly, some that we’d rather forget (racism - unfortunately still with us) and some great music. A cracking British film that I hope gets a really good blu-ray release in time!

Why would it be a problem? It was just an observation
Wonderful film. Jack has always been one of my favourite actors. Is he the most versatile? of course not. But he has a charisma that's quite unmatched.
I'm also glad that they did not add the "he was right after all" kinda ending of the novel.

Whenever I do deep dives I tend to get nervous about how other people on this forum will react (for some reason I always picture the trial scene from the wall)
I will say this as both Dc’s Extended universe and Animated universe is kind of stale I wish that they would give us Batman Triumphant in Animated form he’ll bring Keaton back and maybe Mark Hamill as the joker as I think a i hi Olson is still to expensive the rest of the rumored cast should be affordable enough (goldblum for scare crow etc heck even Devito is slumming it these days doing those adds for some tax software)
I just think that while it won’t break records it would give Schumacher a chance to give fans what they want and prove he could deliver it and that he was shackled by the toy companies (what he claims though I think he is probably only telling a half truth here)
Anyways up next I plan on seeing The dark knight sometime this week
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (S. Spielberg, 1989)
Not on the same level as the first two. Too much silliness and repetition from the first. Still a fun and well crafted action adventure. Great cast and the score by Williams is very solid as usual.
The first 3 are classics, with the first being in a league of its own.
I actually have Last Crusade in the number 2 position if only for Connery’s presence and his rapport with Ford.
Jason Momoa was a great choice for this character. Out of the new batch of the DC movies to date, this is by far my favourite. Great fun indeed! :-bd
I can understand that
All the Batman films have value to me even Schumachers, I recently bought Nolan's trilogy in 4K awesome films.
My personal favorite of the man with no name trilogy. Van Cleef's character is even more interesting than Eastwood's IMHO.
Who wouldn't like a snoring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt looking so much like Robert Redford? :D
The final scene really touched me, knowing what really happened... very nice of QT to include the actual Sharon Tate in the theater scenes.
Great soundtrack as usual.
It's just a bit too long and I expected to see Bruce Lee more.
Vertigo
The Dark Crystal
Indiana Jones back in fine form. Much of this movie is brilliant, its own thing and classic Indy. He is a character Edgar Rice Burroughs could have written. There is some silly stuff here, especially towards the end, but you can say that about all four. Looking forward to the fifth.
I know I'm the minority as well that enjoys it too
Scarface
As an almost obsessive fan of the 1983 epic, this was my first viewing of the 1932 original starring Paul Muni and George Raft, and I havta say that it's just as good. I can't say better, because Al Pacino's Tony Montana is just a far better character than Muni's Tony Camante, but still an excellent film.
It honestly surprised me how many beats were shared between the two films, despite the fact that the remake is twice as long as the original, but pretty much they have pretty much every major scene in common. I expected significantly drastic differences, but there really weren't.
So, yeah, now that I've seen both versions, I still think the 83 Scarface is much, much better, but the original 32 edition is just as entertaining.
The VR scene is hysterical though
Scarface
Dog Day Afternoon
Carlito's Way
Dog Day Afternoon doesn't really fit my gangster theme, but still a damned good movie that any self respecting Pacino fan should see before they die, assuming they haven't already. He and John Cazale are just as excellent together as they were in The Godfather Parts I and II.
Scarface and Carlito's Way are almost mirror images of one another. One of them showing the glamorous lifestyle of a gangster leading to a man's downfall while the other one shows how trying to avoid that lifestyle isn't always easy. In both films, Pacino is surrounded by a brilliant supporting cast, some of whom are even shared between movies. Ultimately, I find Scarface the better of the two movies, but I'm absurdly biased here, as that was the first gangster movie I truly fell in love with.
Up next, Goodfellas.
That scene was funny

Duffy 1968 James Coburn, James Fox and Sussana York. A comedy caper of sorts not the best though good locations, it killed a few hours, the film has a couple of good set pieces.
A Walk in the Spring Rain 1970 Ingrid Bergman and Anthony Quinn. Typical for a 70's movie in that it's well shot and its a period in cinema that I like so this was an easy watch. Decent film though loses a bit of momentum by the end, Bergman in her mid fifties really did not look that age at all.
