Van Heflin's respected Broadway producer meets a young writer stuggling to get her big break. Just being friendly, he allows her to stay at his flat through the day to work. All is fine, until the writer is found hanging in his bedroom.

Never heard of this one before. Looks right up my alley.

Hemsworth was horrifically miscast in Blackhat.

I wouldn't agree with that. I thought he was fine in the film.

I thought he was fine with the physical stuff but I couldn't buy him as a computer nerd, and unfortunately the film revolves around that.

The back of the case mentions Film Noir, but I would say that it has more in common with Hitckcock (from my modest knowledge of both Film Noir and Hitchcock). Having the involvement of Ginger Rogers doesn't hurt either.

Really enjoyed that one, @Thunderfinger, Galifianakis did a great, if not at times bloated, job of expanding those short comedy videos into a full film. Had me laughing quite a lot.

Yes, didn t expect it to be this funny. Especially the interviews with Keanu Reeves and Benefit Lumberjack had me nearly crying.

Right? Keanu's was great. Love seeing most of these actors able to poke some fun at themselves.

    And yes, get well soon.

minority report! tom cruise is the greatest movie star of all time, there i said it.

He is definitely one of our generation's superstars. Minority Report is such a good film too. Spielberg did a wonderful job with that one.

    Mank 2020

In Fincher we trust, magnificent and Oldman his best since Tinker Tailor, sublime score from Reznor & Atticus and the dialogue just zings.

Just shot by, also benefits from a watch of Citizen Kane beforehand.

Not seen Arliss Howard since JP Lost World but his LB Mayer leaves a mark.

Fincher gifted Seyfried with the role of her career.

    Loved it.

    5/5

    Logan Lucky
Second time and even better this time around.

A sharp and funny script, and the perfect bloody cast! Of course our dear Daniel nicks the film, but overall this is hugely entertaining and leaves you wanting more.

Soderberg doing the Coen Brothers... 😁

I bought Logan Lucky a few months ago I need to find time to watch it, I have a habit of buying Craig movies and not watching them. I have had The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Munich on Bluray for years still not watched them.

I have annual leave next week, I should make time for a Craig triple bill.

Of the 3 films, i think Munich is the best of them!

This film was so fantastic in so many ways. Fincher really knocked this one out of the park, and all of the performances, large and small, were terrific, from Oldman and Seyfried to Dance, Howard, Pelphrey and more. Also loved all the cameos big and small throughout, probably need another viewing or two just to catch them all.

As for Craig's non-Bond work, Munich is my favorite, no question at all. I'd say it still stands as my favorite non-Bond film overall.

Tonight: First rewatch after (I guess) about 30 years of Charley Varrick, a brilliant thriller by (Dirty Harry's) Don Siegel, starring Walter Matthau and, as his immediate adversary, "Brad Whitaker"/"Jack Wade") Joe Don Baker. Really nice action piece, with Matthau's Varrick moving from a really bad guy (bank robber, with homicide involved) in the beginning to be the one to root for since the other guys are really worse.

Joe Don Baker really pounds Andy Robinson. Great action thriller.

Excellent thriller. And lets not forget John Vernon, who also was in Siegels Dirty Harry as the Mayor! Great character actor.
Charley Varrick has Matthau at his most laconic. Great action in the car vs plane finale!

John Vernon was underrated. He was great in everything he did, from Dean Wormer in Animal House to Rupert Thorne in Batman TAS. He is missed, he could have been a Bond villain.

I watched Angels & Demons yesterday. Honestly, I don't think it's that bad. I love Rome (actually used to live there, so obviously have a soft spot for it), it has a fine cast, it's well-paced, I quite dig the ancient conspiracy stuff that's going on and it's full of Lancia's and Alfa's!

I liked it a lot. It's a pretty close adaptation of the enjoyable book.

The Man Who Never Was (1956)
WW2 drama based on the real life "Operation Mincemeat" an audacious plan to feed false information to the Germans, thereby diverting their attention away from where Allied forces plan to strike next. Bond fans should give this a watch, as Mincemeat was one of the Operations outlined in the Trout Memo, by some little known chap called... Ian Fleming.

The whole trilogy was hammered by critics. However they are enjoyable fun, even Inferno was decent enough for me.

It's so good. I remember not liking it very much when I saw it on release - it was only about three or four years after that I decided to give it another go, and it just clicked with me the second time and I have loved it since.
